Joshua had the arrogance to sit in his corner and say ‘he’s SHIT!’ about Daniel, between rounds 4&5, and at that point AJ had been down 3 times in 4 rounds and been totally dominated by Daniel. Crazy.

He was good. That's not true bro. He dealt with Dillian at a time when he was a train rolling over everyone. He dealt with a Klitschko with a point to prove. He dealt with Parker, Povetkin, Takam, Pulev, had better success against common opponents with Fury. Had a lot of title defences. Did the best against Usyk out of all of Usyks fights in the HW division. His problem is that loss to Ruiz made him cagey and took his soul. He was never the best technically but he thrived on was that belief he was a lion snatching souls in the ring. But when that happened to him 60% of his fight game left. What we have left is what we see now.
Have to give him credit for belt collecting and without his title collecting there would be no undisputed.

Ajs problem is since turning pro, he has never learnt the pro game. That’s because he has never had a good trainer and when he had one in Garcia and Spencer’s old trainer he got rid. AJ is a guy who likes yes men around him and I think he doesn’t want to learn new skills at this late stage of his career. The sequence that got him knocked out is the same drill that we see him practice with Ben Davison. Where he throws a combination on the pads but has no head of foot movement. He tried that in a fight with a live opponent and even with a closed eyes he managed to land because AJ never moved out of the way.

To me he looked like he froze on the biggest stage, as the weight of expectation got to him. He knew he was up against a real hungry lion not too unlike himself for the first time since forever and he wanted to put on a clinic because everyone said he would do that. He looked vacant heading into the ring and really troubled by something. I think AJ has an intelligence complex and hates people thinking he's just a dumb brawler. He wants to be seen as a smart man/boxer, that's why he flipped out at Usyk after their 2nd fight, and as their team said to him, "you're strong" it really irritated him, "I don't care about strong I have to have skills. You're not strong how did you beat me!?" That's also why when Ben Davison said after the warrior spirit stuff, "we have to be smart" and AJ snapped back, "I am, I am". Dubois though was a fucking wrecking machine and is arguably the hardest opponent he's had to face now in hindsight aside from the Usyk schoolings.

It seems like Dubois after loosing to Usyk has overcome his timidity after the latter's comforting encouragement: "you can do it, you're young, believe in yourself". But here it seems Joshua didn't even try, and he seemed really absent minded, like...drugged. Similar to Ngannou he TKO'd, who also mentioned that he can't remember a thing. Dubois got his career lined up in the next few months and AJ will be on the comeback route after he lost simple as

  • @jozincarnate

AJ has never been the same since his lose to Andy Ruiz. Since that moment he has questioned everything about himself and boxing in my opinion. He became more publicly mean and aggressive (though it always felt forced), he changed coaching teams and he changed his fighting style, going from a more forwards aggressive fighter to a outside defensive kind of fighter, and while that won him a few fights as he was getting used to his new style, he ultimately crumbled against class opponents. But personally I think the main issue is a mental one, he looks different in his stare, in his body language, and his personality has changed (or finally burst through). A change in personality is a rare thing but it is usually reserved for major personal life events, such as the loss of someone close or witnessing something horrific that can lead to trauma or PTSD, (I'm not expert so it's just an opinion). And it probably isn't just one thing that has caused his shakey performances, it probably a mixture of a few of them. Maybe he has taken a few head punches too many as it can surely affect people in different ways as you accumulate blows over the years. I don't see him coming back from this personally as I don't think he has ever been back since Ruiz, but I wish him luck and health, and hope he can find the mental strength to overcome his inner issues. Gratz to D.D for showing no fear and taking the fight to AJ.

This fight was a first round knockout that lasted 5 rounds. AJ got beat up plain and simple. When the silk sheet lifestyle presents itself of course it is nice.. What a fighter must never forget is how he/she got to the silk sheets in the first place. For me AJs totally forgotten. He needs to find ‘it’ if he chooses to continue with his fighting career. If not I can see this happening again.
