I started my locs by interlocking also🤗! I have 74. I’m so nervous that they won’t thicken up like how I want😭! But this gives me hope🙏🏿! Thanks for sharing ❤️! I LOVE your locs 😍!

@@RKLUXE Thank you. By the way, I just started my loc journey January 26 and I’m loving it! I’m following your journey. Thank you for the inspiration. All the best to you! ☺️🖤
I believe they were interlocked in the beginning to start them, and never again after that. I had instant locs done & after 3 months of having them I just kept palm rolling for retwists.
thank you 💚 during the first 2years of loc’in my hair, I wore a lot of protective styles over them (faux locs, marley twist) then after that I just wash every 4-6 weeks and retwist them with some oil or grease & spray with rose water, nothing to heavy to avoid build up.
just once to start my locs, I didn’t keep interlocking throughout the process I would only palm roll. I think interlocking can be damaging if it is done repeatedly.
Hi so I have starter locks and I want to do some protective styling but I'm scared to damage my locks. What are some tips that helped you to keep your locks healthy while protective styling?
hey great question, so I have a lot of tips, I’ll make a video where I talk more in depth about starter locs & protective styles.. but for now these are my main tips for protective styling with locs (marley locs, faux locs, box braids, etc.): 1. Tension free hairstyles, never too tight. 2. Don’t leave the extensions in for too long 8-12 weeks maximum. 3. Use certain hairs that won’t tangle up in your hair for example: human hair if in your hair too long it may start to infuse with your own hair. Using colored extensions will help you decipher between your hair and the extensions. 4. I never washed my faux locs 🤷🏽♀️ but you can if done properly. 5. As far as moisturizing, I honestly would not oil or wet my hair to much. I would grease or oil my scalp maybe every two weeks but this depends on your scalp and how dry it gets and so fourth so do what you have to do to keep a healthy scalp. 6. A healthy scalp is priority. 7. If your locs are thin, try not to add too much hair to those locs or make them too long. This can create unnecessary tension and thinning. 8. When wrapping faux locs, never wrap too tight at the roots. 9. When taking down your extensions, do not cut too high up. Cut just at the ends and loose them out that way, to avoid cutting your locs. It’ll be easy to separate the hair and take it out once you see the ends of your locs poking out. 10. Tie your hair up when showering and sleeping to maintain the style for as long as possible.
How long did you keep your faux locs on in the first year? I’m shock your locs aren’t thin and your able to do this I think I might just do it too! 🥰😍 your locs are very beautiful girl 👏🏾😍
thank you ❤️ I was shocked too, they thickened up the more I left them alone. I kept my faux locs in the whole first year mostly. I did my hair 3 times during the first year, I would keep them in 3-4 months each time and only take the faux locs out to wash my hair and then put new faux locs in.
@@RKLUXE wow girl I was just at my local beauty store but left because I’m lazy is hell I don’t even want to touch my hair I just head wrap it but this is nice to know for my 4c hair! But 3-4 months? I think it’s worth it for me 😁Thanks girl!
@@Therealvashneyy you’re welcome love. I would’ve definitely wore my head wraps if it were now, to save some time & money but still a great protective style.
@@Therealvashneyy yeah I would retwist my hair before installing the faux locs. I would wait a day or two before adding extensions so that it’s not too much tension on my scalp. I didn’t combine any locs while installing.
