I love diversity in musical collaborations. Hearing two very different voices from two very different backgrounds singing one song together is a picture of unity, which we need more now than ever! - Chad
It’s 3am and I can’t sleep. I lost my mom, 49, around 2 months ago and just spent my 25th birthday with out her. These are moments of “trying to find a cure for the pain”. Thank you for this song Jon, I feel Jesus right by me as I listen to it. God bless.
Our suffering becomes suffering with Christ when we don't run away from pain. When we, like Him, choose to do the right thing in the difficult situation, for ourselves and for others. When we keep asking why and hold on to our anger we will suffer without His peace and His comfort. Just let the tears come, He will heal the brokenhearted.
My Lord keeps telling me to be still and know and listen to Him. I know there's much Yeshua's wanting to tell us, but we must be still. Interesting how anxious we can be just trying to find something else to do, to watch on the phone, someone to text, when we have a Super Awesome Friend to be with. In this place with Him I've found so much peace in Him. Blessings Jon to you and family! ✝️❤️
The "Live From Home" series is one of the best things to happen due to the lockdown. Definitely, the thing I look forward to listening each day!! Might I add that the acoustic versions of some of the songs sound better that the studio versions!! God Bless Jon & the Switchfoot family !! May the message of love & hope reach to the ones who are really looking for something to hold on to in these desperate times! Ultimately, our Sovereign God is in control!!
"I've spent ten years trying sing it all away." This verse just speaks to my soul, 10 years as a Switchfoot fan now in 2020. 10 years that this band has helped me, taught me and brought me joy. So proud to be a fan of these guys. Love them beyond words ♥️
I'm not sure why it always goes downhill Why broken cisterns never could stay filled I've spent ten years singing gravity away But the water keeps on falling from the sky And here tonight while the stars are blacking out With every hope and dream I've ever had in doubt I've spent ten years trying to sing these doubts away But the water keeps on falling from my eyes And heaven knows... heaven knows I tried to find a cure for the pain Oh my Lord, to suffer like you do... It would be a lie to run away So blood is fire pulsing through our veins We're either riders, or fools behind the reins I've spent ten years trying to sing it all away But the water keeps on falling from my tries And heaven knows... heaven knows I tried to find a cure for the pain Oh my Lord, to suffer like you do... It would be a lie to run away A lie to run It would be a lie It would be a lie to run away It keeps on falling It keeps on falling It keeps on falling It keeps on falling The water keeps on falling from my eyes And heaven knows... heaven knows I tried to find a cure for the pain Oh my Lord, to suffer like you do... It would be a lie to run away It would be a lie to run away It would be a lie to run away
I listen your music since I was at Uni, and now married and two boys and the little one gets asleep with your songs 😊. Thanks for that!!! Everyday is a gift.
" And Heaven knows.. heaven knows, I try to find the cure for the pain" ... Jesus you are our true CURE !!! I needed this.. I fearfully look up to see if they found a cure yet for covid-19.
Hey Jon, this was the first song I ever heard off your solo projects. When I was a kid, it was almost too good to be true that Jon Foreman made more music when Switchfoot didn't have a new album out! Thanks for this. Good words. Also, could you play "The Blues" next? That one, though sad, almost works like a Psalm: it helps us process grief and walk toward hop, however slowly. Blessings brother!
Man, I remember doing a cover of this on a 1960's Gibson my brother was borrowing over 10 years ago on my UA-cam. It was right after high school and a break up and Jon's music really seemed to help. Same with when I was recovering from a car accident where I broke my neck at 15. Switchfoot got my through alot!
I'm so sorry you can't be with him right now. I could not afford to fly to my home state to see my grandpa and support my mom when his health was failing this past winter. I pray peace and love to you and your family, to get through the grief in time.
Your songs are really speaking to me in this time, Jon. Thank you for sharing. They're so real and raw, but infused with hope. I just discovered last night that you were doing these songs from home, and I listened to a ton of them, starting with Only Hope (which I've loved ever since I first heard it). God bless you.
Siempre que necesito sentirme un poquito más fuerte, canto esta canción. Ahora agradezco mucho mucho que la cuarentena nos haya regalado esta versión preciosa 🥺
Thanks so much for this, Jon! The Cure for Pain has been on my mind and heart the past couple of days, and you playing it couldn't have come at a better time. Thanks for being such an encouragement and for showing Christ's love to us daily during these strange circumstances.
There will always be suffering, loss, pain and uncertainty in this life There will always be a God we reach out to for guidance While we look for the answers to ease or the comfort to endure ...there waiting - will be a Jon Foreman or Switchfoot song that holds our hand or hugs us through it all No matter when it was written, it is and always will be: relevant. Your music is timeless. Standing in the shadows we all know it proves - the sunshine. Whether you see this or not, I thank you. For the music. The hugs. The love you share with this world. You, all five of you, are the love sent from above. I know He speaks through you! Even in strife, you are honest. I pray for you all, knowing, this is equally as difficult (if I’m honest, probably more so) on you as it is for us all.❤️
Jesus loves you Isaiah 49:15 Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!
Oh I remember back in the MySpace times. I was always running from the pain all around me. I love this tune & now older, and I hope a bit more wiser, I’ve come to realize that I cannot run from pain any longer. I run to Jesus and know He is with me and all of my love ones who are suffering and I rejoice. 💙
I can’t find the words to express how much I love this song... and I didn’t know I needed to listen to it right now. This was perfect Jon. Btw the opening is amazing💖
I love this song so much. I have found it very relatable in the past few years of my life. Alongside "Terminal", it has a special place in my life. Also, one the easiest of Jon's songs to play. Thanks for blessing us with your music bro. I'm currently working on a cover of Terminal that has a rap verse added to it 🙈🙈. Just my own way of passing time 😁.
I’ve loved your music for a long time, but these live from home videos have made me love much more. Something about seeing it broken down to such simple acoustics and being able to see a glimpse into your own emotions during these strange times. Thank you so much. I look forward to ever one. May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine upon you ❤️

Hey Jon! Could you queue up "The Shadow Proves the Sunshine!" for your Live from Home series. Much appreciation from LA! - Isabel

These nights listening to Jon & co. have been souvenirs for me of this pandemic.
He who is love is worth it all. The One who sympathizes with all of our pain. The One who suffered the most for love. What love...!

So we just need new cisterns :’)

Jon, we seriously need to ensure that the last video in this series is Liberty.
I listen your music since I was at Uni, and now married and two boys and the little one gets asleep with your songs 😊. Thanks for that!!! Everyday is a gift.

That's so sweet
Love Himself walking with me. Love it!

I could´t resist closing my eyes when you started this song.
This song makes me cry every time i hear it, but is a crying of peace, it's so strange to explain. Love your music! Thanks!

One of my favs from you Jon, thanks. My Gramps is on his deathbed and I can’t see him. I needed this encouragement.

This used to be my morning alarm in 2012! Fond memories of waking up to a dark city.

On the day my wife experienced a layoff, this song is very fitting.
Mixed up falling from the skies and falling from my eyes.
Interesting. My favorite song of his.
Love is walking alongside you, beside you ❤️❤️
Thank you for the inspiration, Jon ☺️🥰
A troubadour in our time of unrest, love how this helps all of us stuck at home. God bless you man.
