Even if your hesitation was clear to her, that was an A+ dad move. My dad still finds tickets to bands he’s shared with me. Music is a special kind of love language.
I'm so sad. There was a switchfoot concert just yesterday in Melbourne in Australia,. I only found out about it like a day or so ago from my brother but couldn't find a way to get up to Melbourne, wish I'd gone now.
@@truthhunterhawk3932 oh no!! I was super sad when I hesitated to get tickets for the Brisbane concert, and then suddenly it was sold out, so I feel your pain. I'm sure they'll be back tho!! With my story though... it turned around because a few days before the concert, Paul Colman was in Brissy and got myself and my daughterin last minute, as he knows these guys. Because my daughter is only 6, we had to stand up the top level up the very back... could barely see. And next minute Jon Foreman went through the crowd during one of the early songs, came up the rear steps of the venue, and sung from up the top in the balcony where we were!! My daughter gave him a high-five which I got on video - was such an amazing moment! Hope you get to go the next time they're in Australia!
A Walk to Remember was my introduction to Switchfoot. I remember asking who was singing Only Hope during the wedding scene and going from there. I bought a three disc compilation of the 1st three albums, and I was hooked. So much so that Switchfoot's Only Hope was the first dance song for our wedding. Thanks for your great music!
My older brother gave me an old, scratched up, burned copy of New Way To Be Human and I fell in love. I listened and sang along to that CD along with the skips so many times that I was thrown off by the "skipless" official version when I finally bought it
Such a great version. My wife walked down the isle to this song. Every time I hear it I’m thankful again for God’s grace that carries us and for his peace that goes beyond all understanding when we leave our lives in His hands.
“When it feels like my dreams are so far, sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again”...That line right there has been the most inspirational one in my life for so many years!
Nostalgia hits hard with this one. When I was 15 I broke my neck in a car accident. While semi bed ridden all summer I listened to all of the Switchfoot albums on my MP3 player on repeat. I would marathon through all of them at a time. Got me through the pain and depression.
Sweet Laura, God doesn't worry. He's got everything under control! We might not understand what is happening but God has got a plan. We live in a fallen world, unfortunately that means that bad things do happen :( Yet when we turn to the Lord with our weakness He strengthens us in difficult times. God's got this. He is a Just God and knows the true outcome of all of this. I know it's still hard though.
Can I just say, this is my favorite song of all time. It is so beautiful. It has comforted me ever since I was a teenager and now in my mid 30’s it’s still just as powerful. This song has such a special place in my heart. My mom also loves it and we sing it together. ❤️
@jonforeman This song was popular at the most important time of my life. I was in the US military stationed in Fort Stewart, Georgia. 1999 was the year my father passed away, and I was not able to be by his side because I was in the army full time 24/7. I had to take furlough to able to attend my fathers funeral. I was so shaken up that my Company Commander and 1st Sergeant had to fly me in by airplane because I was so torn up inside and could not drive myself back home to view my father one last time. Thank you Jon for playing this song . It's one of my favorite Switchfoot songs. You have the best heart ❤️Jon Foreman.♥️❤️
Thank you so much for your service. I offer my deepest condolences and sympathies to you and your loved ones who's hearts miss your dearly departed father. Please stay healthy during these very challenging times, be of good courage, and stay positive. (Smile)
I can't count the times that I go back to this song. It's such a wonderful reminder of God's grace and the hope He gives us. This song always turns my tears of sorrow to tears of joy for what He has given us!
those worldly pop singers TWISTED the original intention and meaning of the song Only Hope - it was written by Jon Foreman as a Devotional Song to God, not a romantic song between puny human beings
I first saw Switchfoot as they opened for Third Day in Northern NJ in 1997. I walked in to see Third Day and walked out with a Switchfoot poster and CD. Been a fan ever since Jon. Appreciate you sharing with us during these unusual times. Thank you for yesterdays and todays (apostrophes excluded purposefully). :)
This song, specifically your version, always makes me cry. I am from that generation who heard this song in that Nicholas Sparks movie that launched a thousand tear-stained eyes. I am not Christian, nor religious by any means, but your music is just...feels like comfort. Thank you for doing this, Jon!
when this became a hit and still I can remember the days that the one I love got away because of my selfish ways. And I feel regret always..as long as I live.
There's a song that's inside of my soul It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again I'm awake in the infinite cold But you sing to me over and over again So I lay my head back down And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours I pray to be only yours I know now your my only hope Sing to me the song of the stars Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again When it feels like my dreams are so far Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again And I lay my head back down And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours I pray to be only yours I know now your my only hope I give you my apathy I'm giving you all of me I want your symphony Singing in all that I am At the top of my lungs I'm giving it back So I lay my head back down And I lift my hands and pray To be only yours I pray to be only yours I pray to be only yours I know now your my only hope
I've sang this song to each one of my kids before bed til they were at least 3.... These songs mean more than you know Jon. 😭 Love your spirit ❣️ HE alone IS our only hope. Love. Love. Love this. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow the memories... downloaded this after watching some Mandy Moore movie... 21, in the army, living in sin, not following God whatsoever, but feeling this distant hope from this song.... now I know Christ and that Hope lives right inside me. What a difference praise God!

Thank you for the mini concert. Music is timeless. I have not heard this song in so long yet it refreshes my soul and brings me back to some very good times in my life.
My class and I played this song on graduation night back in 2003. My best friend, who was my guest of honor, came from a city 4 hours away to come be with me and to play bass with us. I was the guitar player, and after the long violin intro, I started playing just to find out the guitar I had borrowed (I didn’t have my own back then) was completely out of tune! I butchered such a beatiful song, but hey, it was an unforgettable moment (more for worse than for better).
I'm a 90s kid and I remember watching A Walk to Remember. It's how I discovered y'all. Simpler times indeed. Thank you for letting your light shine bright ❤️ God bless you!
My Dad introduced me to Switchfoot and showed me “Restless”. He wanted to buy me the album it was on (Vice Verses), but he accidentally bought The Best Yet. I was 8 or 9 years old and listened to that album almost every day, I swear. He bought me Vice Verses too, and I listened to that one nonstop as well. I’m 16 now. Hi Jon Foreman, I just wanted to say please don't stop doing this videos. Your music gives me hope that everything is going to be fine soon. More than fine. I'm pregnant and my baby was found with hydrocephalus while still in my womb, plus this Coronavirus going around like the devil, snatching people's lives, it's hard to get by day by day without being anxious and sad. But your music gives me hope and keeps me on the bright side. I've been a fan of you and Switchfoot since, and I love your music. Keep doing what you're doing, more power!
Thank you Jon. A perfect choice. These acoustic versions are like an aftershow. We really appreciate you doing these! Peace, happiness and health to you!
I love how happy Jon looks playing this song. Your music has gotten me through the good and bad. Take care Jon and the rest of the crew+their families. Love you guys!
Thank you so much for doing this. Your songs have gotten me through so many difficult times in my life... and the fact that you’re here singing them again... it means so much.

I am comforted by the fact the even Jon Forman’s mini blinds just don’t work properly. I am not alone

And I am comforted knowing that I am not the only one who quickly noticed lol I love this song by the way ❤️

This song will never get older. Thank you Father for lending us Jon Foreman
This song would have been my second request after Let That be Enough.
Jesus is our true hope, He is the anchor to our souls
I love 'Let that be Enough' too
Man that one hits hard.

There's a song that's inside of my soul
It's the one that I've tried to write over and over again
I'm awake in the infinite cold
But you sing to me over and over again
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now your my only hope
Sing to me the song of the stars
Of your galaxy dancing and laughing and laughing again
When it feels like my dreams are so far
Sing to me of the plans that you have for me over again
And I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now your my only hope
I give you my apathy
I'm giving you all of me
I want your symphony
Singing in all that I am
At the top of my lungs
I'm giving it back
So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands and pray
To be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I pray to be only yours
I know now your my only hope
