When I first saw the movie I saw the second version. When I found out there was an alternate ending with Amanda returning I was so excited. I loved her character in the first film. Sadly I was disappointed. The other version is a million times better. If they make a third film I hope they continue Claires story.
I only found out there was two versions of escape room today and I’m so disappointed in the first version 😭the first ending doesn’t make much sense and is a real weak story line but the second with the Minos story line paired with the first scene about the puzzle makers wife’s death was absolute gold plus it gives a clear storyline for a 3rd if there is one.
I watched the extended cut, and only watched clips of the original version. I prefer the extended cut one over this one. (By the way I hate it when a movie has two endings. Just make up your damn mind.) First of all, bringing back Amanda is very stupid. She fell from an extremely long height. There is no way that she would survive that fall even if they had soft blankets at the bottom. The other reason is that the police finally arrests Minos people and they get what they deserve in the extended cut. But in the original version they get away like they did in the first movie and it is more frustrating. (Unless they plan to make a third movie.)
I feel like the second ending gives the movie some much needed... well I wouldn't call it depth, but context. The problem with these movies is that they are neither fish nor fowl. It feels like they wanted to make a Saw kind of movie but they were forced to make it PG-13. And without the gore and viscera of a Final Destination or the aforementioned Saw, you simply cannot afford weak writing. I enjoyed the second one way more than the first, because at least it was really suspenseful. The "rain" room was a really good idea in my opinion. The "beach" one not so much. The theatrical ending was predictable and felt like a cheap knockoff of almost every Final Destination ending (and from now on we're entering spoiler territory for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet, so if you do not want to have the ending spoiled or the movie in general you should stop reading right about now) where the big plot twist is just that "it's not really over". The extended cut at least gives you some reason why the story shouldn't be over. It works as a nice transition into a third movie, that could give us a big showdown between Zoey and the puzzle master. But for it to be a good transition, it needs a glimpse behind the curtain. We need to see some of the inner workings of Minos, otherwise it stays this almost cartoonish, faceless evil organization that only exists to churn out more and more deadly escape rooms. It feels a bit like the evil claw guy from Inspector Gadget. The first one felt weak, but maybe could have worked as the entry point of an at least pretty good thrillogy. The one thing a good villain needs is a good motive. And so far, the only motive I have seen in the theatrical release was money. That's cheap. Have Zoey and the Puzzle Master go into a battle of wits. And have the god damn balls to kill off Ben or Amanda for good. It annoys me how much potential has been wasted by corporate decision-making. They only care about making it easy, making it simple and tame enough so that as many people as possible can watch it. And all that does is sanding off all the edges of an otherwise interesting idea. Sorry about this long rant. TL;DR: Extended cut is better. Could've been an above average movie series with a bit more context. Ended up being a forgettable mess that still works better than the first one.

I just watched the second movie and totally agree. The puzzlemaster is a cheesy villain... And fits right within the cheesiness of the movie, which is something I grew to accept and even enjoy. The theatrical ending, though, doesn't provide anything past chock value. Besides that, it puts Minos in a position of being almost omnipotent, which just leaves the filmmakers in a dead end for a sequel.

Maybe purely on the endings - but the theatrical cut brings back a character who died in the first one for no real reason, doesn't tell us anything interesting past "there is another escape room for Zoey to solve", and ends up making the villains feel impossibly omnipotent. I am a Little biased seeing as I saw the first version in theaters and haven’t yet watched the digital release in full but I will say that with the first ending, I like how it tied all of the traps together and how it showed that Minos had the power to break even a soldier but from what I heard the digital release made the movie and what could potentially become a trilogy have a more sensical
Actually, tieing the story together with the diary is very lazy imo. Goes against 'show don't tell'. Also we haven't seen the daughter either. In the extended version we see the day of the girl, which also included scenes on the subway and in the taxi.
I knew I wasn’t crazy because I remember watching a dead meat episode with the alternate ending then when I watched the movie today it was the other ending and it had me confused as heck
@@davidskad7752i saw the movie like a year ago with the Claire ending and it seemd really cool and today i rewatched it and was hella confused as well bc of the plane ending
That ending on the plane.... I love it!! Leads us into, hopefully, Escape Room 3. A plane ending would be reminiscent of a Sliders episode where the crew slide onto a plane and they have to escape the plane and the hangar before it bursts into flames.
I liked the second one better, but I feel like they should have combined the two. Show the second version first, then have a scene two month or so later of Ben getting healthy, and them flying on the plane to lead into the first ending
I honestly like the theatrical version if we're being honest. With the alternate ending it's like someone said it feels like the alternate ending was the end all to the franchise. With the theatrical ending you don't know who's really behind Minos. I feel like Amanda was really used as bait in order for Zoey to become one of them. To me the alternate is good for if they are ending making more and the theatrical would definitely be good for if there's a 3. They should have maybe included certain parts from the alternate version into the 3rd if they make another.
I thought i was hallucinating the original ending lmaoo cause i was like. I remember the girl that “fell” was behind it all.. and today when i watched the extended cut on 123 i was what is going on 😂 i was so confused
Pretty sure both endings kinda suck. At least the alternate has the orphan chick. The reg ending seemed so forced as if the alternate ending didn’t test well idk.
Chile i was like, am i in an alternate universe, I love the alternate ending. it makes perfect sense and the Amanda one sucks and i even said "if they come out with another one, i won't watch it because it doesn't connect" I just found this out, literally today!!
Ending with Amanda has better continuity. What would the point have been of the plane scene with the alternate ending? The theatrical ending ties in better with the first movie and sets up for a 3rd much better.
But the plane scene leading to Zoey on that plane just feels too omnipotent, or like they had too much power. With the extended cut, I imagine the second they realized Zoey wasn’t getting on the plane they made plans for the junkie to lure them onto the subway with the other champion contestants who probably would have had their games without Zoey anyway if she had boarded the plane. Like Claire says “she’s not ready” so her not boarding had to be a possibility they were expecting. The plane scene not happening to me doesn’t break continuity, it just shows plan A didn’t work 🤷🏻♀️
@@stargazercreationsyea that’s true but at the same Time zoey not boarding the plane and becoming friends with Claire does kinda end zoeys story unless Claire is going to go after zoey again
i was today years old when i found out there were two endings. the extended plot twist was the only one i seen on the movie. i thought it was the original ending. damn.
I preferred the extended version. Villains with too much power are just too boring for me, so them getting her on a plane that’s an escape room just felt too easy for them compared to the junkie robbing her to lead her all the way to the subway cart since they knew she was still coming to those coordinates. Especially since the plane scene at the end implies they always knew she would board a plane eventually. I preferred the plane as a discarded plan A. Plus I thought the Claire storyline felt ingenious. Her father wanted Zoey dead because she was trying to take them down. Instead Claire not only used Zoey to take control of Minos, but convinced Zoey she was taking down Minos herself which means Zoey is unlikely to try to take them down again since they’ve always done such a good job at staying hidden and will probably start over under Claire’s control. Then for keeping Zoey involved in the franchise, there’s always a chance Claire made Zoey feel like Minos was gone so she could work on making a room even she can’t pass and lure her back eventually
The father didn’t want to kill zoey he wanted to recruit her but I do agree the first ending gave them toooo much power I think the first move is better if they plan on making 2 more movies but the 2nd ending is better if they plan on one last
she’s like the other realm version of me if i never healed from childhood trauma lol, you know how there’s infinite realities versions of yourself, this is the one version of me after what they put me through in 2020 lol
NGL, I do see why the ending that most people have seen that isn’t the theatrical cut is the ending that’s used more, it’s just a heck of a lot better!
Bruh I can’t be the only one who seen 3 versions of this movie, I watch the movie a again today and there was more changes like I promise you there were scenes with Zoey and a therapist that was secretly gathering for them
In my opinion, the second ending gave a great explanation as to why there were other "champions" while the theatrical ending made Amanda's survival unnecessary. It takes away the suspense from seeing these characters try to survive and beat the rooms. If and when they decide to make a sequel, whose to say the next character really isn't dead.
But thats the thing amanda coming back was used to break zoey they want her to be in distress which is why they used Ben as leverage and Amanda to convince her they want zoey to be one of there game masters for obvious reason Amanda’s survival was definitely necessary for there ultimate goal get zoey on the plane which they did all thought the 2nd ending is also fine but it just doesn’t tie up with the first movie although it does give more lore they could’ve saved the 2nd ending for the end of the. 3rd movie if it ever comes out
I saw the first version today on TV but missed the start, so I went online to watch it and basically ended up with half a new movie. 😂 I say both are confusing a bit, but the twist ending with Zoey feels the best. Idk if they had the airport scene in the extended version when at the start Zoey ditches last second. I can only imagine Minos as trying to get her onto the plane game for this long, so that ending was satisfying. That is true that I was questioning from the very second Amanda showed up why in hell would they ask this random woman who failed to design puzzles. For Zoey it makes sense bit now for her. Also the story about her daughter meant nothing at all and felt like it was thrown together as a last ditched effort. Eventho Ben being hostage was better in that one. You really felt the connection between them. Then again, playing the "they got out another way and called the police on Minos" fell flat the second time. We already knew it won't work out. Now the weirdest thing in the extended version was why on Earth would you make a puzzle for the daughter to get out? Why leave that possibility in there?! Good twist and all but it also felt unsatisfying how they solved the last room with hacking. Zoey also saved Ben by cheating for the 2nd time. Why all these repetition of ideas? The rooms itself and the characters were great. I hope they figure out where they're headed in the 3rd movie, so it won't be as messy!
I saw the first film last week and just finished watching second film tonight. I was literally screaming " no don't get on the plane!" Then watching alternative ending on UA-cam and just ended up very confused!!
The 2nd version with Claire was better. There were 2 versions of the movie not just 2 endings. Amanda being tied into the 2nd movie making escape rooms didnt make much sense but Claire's involvement was more sensible.
Disagree u just don’t get Amanda’s return was needed for zoey to get on the plane which has been the goal of menos this entire time Claire’s ending isn’t bad but it’s more of a ending since it ends zoeys story in a sense unless Claire will target zoey which is unlikely since they helped each other escape the situation they were in
Honestly....I loved the first one, one of my top 10 favorite movies. But the sequel was not the best, the acting was great but the storyline was awful and rushed to quickly and the escape room puzzles were goofy at best. I would have preferred this alternate ending to the one we got. I hope they make a third one and really take their time in making it to get the feeling back of the first one...

Bro no way, i remember i watched where they make the players do the rooms idk if i am crazy or dreaming or something, but zoe or ben made a room and idk it's weird i can't find it
This was playing in the background and when I saw Deborah Ann Woll I said I go watch it later. Saw it and it was version two. I thought I was confusing her for the actress that cant feel pain, but then I remembered the therapist.
Listen babes I just want a mf movie where Zoe has to deal with her fear of planes 🙃 at the end of escape room 1 they made Zoe and Ben solidly plans of buying tickets and flying to Minos where they’d get into another plane escape room without knowing. I want to see that story play out. I don’t give a fuck abt the new girl and the alt ending omfg
Thats the beginning of the episode. It starts with amanda killing her mom in a sauna escape room. Then zoey gets on the plane, you see how some flight attendant from Milos checks them in. Into a fake plane or something. But walking through the tunnel, zoey gets a panic attack. And returns. The flight attendant (and the people who are watching along) are dissapointed.
ngl, in my opinion both endings suck, I feel like the 1st was a little ''lazy'' and the 2nd just added more unnecesary story, but I prefer the 1st one since it has a better end to the movies and no start for a 3rd one.
Yeah, one thing that didn´t make any sense in the theatrical version, was the bank. How was it related to Amanda`s daughter? it wasn`t. I haven't seen the extended version so I don't quite understand what happened there
i would have been the friend who didn’t go with them & continued living a normal life thinking… “ah! another set of fake friends… i’m not surprised” whole time they were getting swallowed up by sand on a play beach 😂 with me as the driver, we would have never ended up in this area! i have a guide greater than a gps!
Idk the first one seems a little dumb because it makes Minos seem omnipotent. They mind controlled her or hypnotized her? Like wtf💀really out of place. The second ending is better, but the twist still isn’t good tbh.
I feel like there was a 3 ending or something because I remember that we zoey had entered a room that was the woman’s room and the lady the had died in the first movie the military one had lived and they had tried to get zoey on her side and use Dave who trapped in a box that was being filled with water and then those two women came together and freed Dave by used a gas to break the glass and then we cut to the hospital and then later the airplane to reveal that they are still in the game
I just watched it on netflix and it was the first ending but I also watched it on prime video a while ago with the second ending and thought I was going insane 😭
NEVER saw this ending and looks so much better and woulda set up a 3rd film but I guess they released this and didn’t give it a chance a box Office… Shame, coulda been fun with little orphan playing the role!!!
The plane one seemed better just when u think your safe then minos air 😂 haha. They could have incorporated the puzzle maker's daughter killing the dad scene after ben got put in ambulance then did the plane scene to finish it leaving room for another crazy film. Otherwise they could have just done plane scene and killed off the two main characters with the creepy puzzle girl still on the loose an unhappy ending.
I would enjoy a 3rd. But I admit I do not care to do an escape room. The idea does not appeal to me. The ideas they were supposed to figure out. We’re just about impossible under pressure.

I agree with you
I thought i was hallucinating the original ending lmaoo cause i was like.
The plane scene not happening to me doesn’t break continuity, it just shows plan A didn’t work 🤷🏻♀️
@@stargazercreationsyea that’s true but at the same Time zoey not boarding the plane and becoming friends with Claire does kinda end zoeys story unless Claire is going to go after zoey again
bro i dead ass started to believe in the mandela affect for minute there 💀😭
i was today years old when i found out there were two endings. the extended plot twist was the only one i seen on the movie. i thought it was the original ending. damn.
the 2 end its better but the original its 1; for me they go keep 2 end for 3 film
Fortunately I watched the alternate version 😌
Just watched this version today. Actually preferred it
Thank goodness. I only saw the plane scene a few years back but recently saw the extended, and it really confused me. I thought I was going crazy! 😂
when i watched it in 5theaters it was the ending with the plane and i just watched it again and it was different
Same
We need a part 3
I just finished watching the other ending after seeing this one the first time a long time ago. I thought I was losing my mind!
I would love to watch a version that has all the alternate versions and deleted scenes
I didn’t know there was two endings. I’ve watched this movie so many times on BluRay and in theatre so how did I not see the second ending
Bruh I can’t be the only one who seen 3 versions of this movie, I watch the movie a again today and there was more changes like I promise you there were scenes with Zoey and a therapist that was secretly gathering for them
The first ending matches perfect with the ending of the first one. And a good set up for a possible third . 😂
3rd movie if it ever comes out
You know, if the escape rooms we saw in both movies were the _censored_ versions, I'd hate to see what the originals were like.
I saw the first version today on TV but missed the start, so I went online to watch it and basically ended up with half a new movie. 😂
I say both are confusing a bit, but the twist ending with Zoey feels the best.
I like that extended cut
Okay this extended version tell a much interesting story.
curiosity may have flatlined the cat, but i’m not a cat, that’s where you went wrong!
That boy is lucky!🍀 He’s so is very lucky. Keep him around.
I'm pretty sure hbo max had the extended version when it came out, i can remember clearly watching that scene of claire and her dad
Still waiting for escape room 3 ❤️
The alternative ending I found to be horrible, they made the right decision going with the original one.
I saw the first film last week and just finished watching second film tonight. I was literally screaming " no don't get on the plane!"
Then watching alternative ending on UA-cam and just ended up very confused!!
I hope they make a third one and really take their time in making it to get the feeling back of the first one...
some parents truly be your #1 enemies, they’ll be your first bully, your first heartbreak, & your first offender…. then be like: “i dOnT kNoW wHy mY cHiLd iS LyK tHaT” …sure jan!
I mean she has been a murderous psychopath since she was very young. This is a whole different scenario lol
Wait! What? Why there's alternatives what's the point😅
People are divided on which ending they prefer. Would you imagine if they made 2 movies with 2 different timelines? lol?
Profit!
No, I thought it because COVID 19 pandemic so they make it simplerer. 2 plot twists at the same time. Alternate ending is more like a mini sequel.
ngl, in my opinion both endings suck, I feel like the 1st was a little ''lazy'' and the 2nd just added more unnecesary story, but I prefer the 1st one since it has a better end to the movies and no start for a 3rd one.
Yeah, one thing that didn´t make any sense in the theatrical version, was the bank. How was it related to Amanda`s daughter? it wasn`t. I haven't seen the extended version so I don't quite understand what happened there
I thought I was dreaming about the other ending
I loved the first one but the second one did give more indepth to the situation
What's the background song from 5:40 - 6:10
Call me crazy, I prefer the first ending 😅
i would have been the friend who didn’t go with them & continued living a normal life thinking… “ah! another set of fake friends… i’m not surprised” whole time they were getting swallowed up by sand on a play beach 😂 with me as the driver, we would have never ended up in this area! i have a guide greater than a gps!
When I saw it in theaters I had the first ending
Idk the first one seems a little dumb because it makes Minos seem omnipotent. They mind controlled her or hypnotized her? Like wtf💀really out of place. The second ending is better, but the twist still isn’t good tbh.
Agree but opposite I think the first ending makes more sense but the 3rd is out of place
#1 is is basically Final Destination....
No way, that’s the little girl from the movie ORPHAN ! 🤯
I just watched it on netflix and it was the first ending but I also watched it on prime video a while ago with the second ending and thought I was going insane 😭
What is the name of the 1st film since ppl are saying tournament is the 3rd?
I watched the two movies on Hulu which was has the Amanda ending but when I watched with my boyfriend he used some back hand website and it was Claire
yOU WANNA BET SHE STILL LIVED. LML
When will Zoey ever get to Minos?! 🙄 If they do the same outcome in the 3rd movie (if there ever will be a 3rd movie) I'll flip a table.
My husband and I watched different version, when we talked about this movie, we like????? Are we talking about same movie 🤯
They should've gone with the plot twist ending.
i feel like the first version makes more sense with the end of the firsy movie
NEVER saw this ending and looks so much better and woulda set up a 3rd film but I guess they released this and didn’t give it a chance a box Office… Shame, coulda been fun with little orphan playing the role!!!
Is there gna be a 3rd movie?
I just watched the netflix version and got so confused when i saw isabelle fuhrman in the cast...
Can someone explain who is that girl and where did she come from and what damn version of the movie that is I’m so lost
She was the daughter of this blond girl
The plane one seemed better just when u think your safe then minos air 😂 haha. They could have incorporated the puzzle maker's daughter killing the dad scene after ben got put in ambulance then did the plane scene to finish it leaving room for another crazy film. Otherwise they could have just done plane scene and killed off the two main characters with the creepy puzzle girl still on the loose an unhappy ending.
I would enjoy a 3rd. But I admit I do not care to do an escape room. The idea does not appeal to me. The ideas they were supposed to figure out. We’re just about impossible under pressure.
Amanda was in the cage of water with Ben and Zoey
on netflix its first one
neither ending saves this ass movie, so i don't think they should regret sticking with the theatrical one
I thought second was Orphan lol
ben:zoey what happening?sh**
THERE’S TWO ENDINGSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
woah!
to think this version of me was an option & i still remained pretty kind, & yet they keep testing me with spiritual attacks as if this version of myself doesn’t exist in another realm & the shift can easily be made lol…
Is the guy at the end the one who saved Rachel or the one who fell off the ladder
I thought i was dreaming 😅
Bruh, im confused the ending, really, in website, it shows they manage to beat Minos at first time watching
And rewatch again, other just twist it
Wait who is the girl on the alternate ending??
Exactly
Claire, Minos daughter has been designing escape room all this time.
Wait!Where did Claire and her dad come from?
Why isnt Amanda in the ending?
Nmms vi la misma película en ambas versiones, me puse a investigar por que estaba confundido y juré que me había vuelto loco, no tenía idea de que eran dos versiones
There’s another room where it fills up with water I’m trying to find it
That's part of the first ending before they're on the flight back
@@UrDuzoh sorry 😂
Why is Isabelle Fuhrman so good at being evil?
true!
So Claire ll be the villain in the next movie?
