I can’t wait to get my Albanian passport just because of Gjergj Kastrioti and his flag. I am from Dardania aka Northern Albania with a USA citizenship. I don’t really need any other passport but I do want the Albanian one just because of him. Despite his death since 1468, he is still an inspiration that defied and won against a brutal empire.
Congrats James, you always manage to capture what makes Albania so special. When I was there and Albanians found out I was American and always asked me "Why did you come here??" with surprise, I think I should've just shown them your videos rather than coming up with an explanation lol
I love these videos more than any others you have ever made. They feel real in a way I honestly can't describe well at all, but they are perfectly you and watching them makes me very very happy. Remember that every day inching forward, however slowly, is a day you aren't going backwards, and that alone, is enough.
thank you dude. you have no idea how much it means to me that you watch these, and even more so that you enjoy them. I think what i’m trying to do is showing and you’re picking up on it perfectly. Gives me hope that many others might as well.
Discipline is what keeps you pushing when motivation fails. Keep at your goals, cause it's not the final blow that breaks the rock, but all of the ones that came before collectively.
Awesome to see how far you have come James, congrats on getting your permit, and becoming a "real" Albanian, your journey has been nothing short of amazing!
Congrats on the permit! I was talking to a restaurant owner the other day about how the business is going and he said "There are ups and downs, just like in life, but be busy working so that you don't have too much time to think about it." Perhaps there is something to that idea xp
That sums up Eastern Europe to a tee They don't really take the time to complain too much they plow ahead unlike the Italians and especially French who complain a lot. I love France and Italy all the same but in places like Bulgaria or Albania you do not get so much melodrama but people just work and get on with it despite the difficulties and bad history.
A little tip about our language which you may know: 1; memorize our alphabet, 2; memorize verbs kam and jam (I have I am) and 3; mingle with locals as much as possible and don't be shy to talk to them in Albanian@@JamesLeithart
I 'discovered' your channel because I am researching a place to spend winters outside my home country of Canada. I'm very impressed by the quality of your video and the attention you pay to telling a story. I'll definitely subscribe, and wish you well!
Wonderful video! So thoughtful and well done. I'm in Albania now and enjoying it much the same as you. It's really beautiful and the people are so kind. Keep up the good work on your journey and remember to live in the moment!
It’s hard for old person to find old English speaker as a friend. Without Albanian language and without true help, life is boring to settle down. Albania 🇦🇱 is changing fast 💨 and will not be cheap to live in it soon.
I would love to move to Europe from the US but I have a rather great job here and unfortunately it doesn’t allow me to leave the country. It’s bitter sweet.
Do not stress. Give time to time. One step at a time. Forget the Past, do not stress about the future. Live today as it is a gift, that is why is called PRESENT! Be safe and keep up the FAITH!
btw based on your experience, Is it a complicated process to obtain a PR in Albania especially for Asian like me? Am from Indonesia & I have a plan to move legally to Balkan

Hello James I’m goin to be retiring in two years I would like to know how can I get a visa to live there permanently if I buy a apartment or a house can you share some information about what can I do or who to contact
Yo James congratulations to you about your permanent card. Just a question? How come you like living in Albania 🇦🇱 while us Albanians are emigrating and leaving our motherland. It's such a shame that a lot of Albanian people have left....But saying that we love Americans and America 🇺🇸. Long live United States of America 🇺🇸 and Albania 🇦🇱
it's impossible for me to actually answer that question. But my guess is that being in Albania has opened up opportunities for me that wouldn't have happened if I stayed in the USA. I'm not motivated by money, and by working in Albania it takes fewer hours of work for me to make enough to live on. Basically it gives me more space and freedom to do what I want to do.
@@JamesLeithart Clearly someone who hasn't looked at a map before. I visited Albania last October and am planning a trip again in June. Totally fallen in love with it, I made 2 friends in my 5 days who showed us around and made us feel welcomed. I can see why you keep going back! 🤩
