I discovered SOLSTICE just a couple of months ago, but since then I just can´t stop listening to them every single day!!!! The sense of peace and "everything will be absolutely ok" is overwhelming. I just can´t thank enough that they exist! A HUGE HUG from Costa Rica!!!!
Saw 'Solstice' last weekend and was blown away by the grace and passion of this band of beautiful people. So were a lot of hardened rockers! On Tuesday, I sat at Badbury Rings and watched the solstice sun melt into gold then sink beneath Wessex horizons. Then, naturally, I played 'A New Day' on the way home. Peace and Blessings
Sorry, I'm late on the bandwagon. This song wells me up every time. I bought the album and it's been in my car CD player for a month. The best new album I've bought in ages. I'm now a fan and would love to see you guys in the states someday.
Now we've just got to work out how we're going to get out there to play live... now that our ridiculous government have made that so much more difficult😡
I came across an article about neo-progressive and discovered Solstice. When I heard "A New Day" it was love at first sight! One of the best bands I've heard probably in the last 10 years !!
this beautiful girl sings like an angel great song and amazing album this is the perfect music to cure our corona depression solstice you are fabolous greetings from munich
Sometimes I think I have lost my interest in music. I hear this. Fortunately, this is not the case, it's just that very few songs amaze me like this one. Beautiful.
This beautiful piece goes absolutely up among your best compositions., Great melody, sweet voice, lovely fiddle sound and an amazing guitar solo. Well done Solstice! 🥰🤗
Typical Solstice but with a new twist. Beautiful video, amazing lyrics and vocals any exemplary music to boot. A wonderful way to begin 2021. Peace and love.
Love "A New Day" - wonderful song. I have followed Solstice since the 80s and they are going great guns at the moment. In this video, Jess looks so mystical and fresh and makes me hark back to how I wanted to be in my youth. Yet, Jenny on violin, is absolutely majestic in her demeanour the definitive master of her instrument; the High Priestess of the band. Andy hits the high note from the lead into his guitar solo, every time with perfection, and keeps the built energy high, so high, that you could cry. Ali xx
The whole album is like a revelation, a very happy moment among this unhappiness caused by the pandemic. A very uplifting album that reminds the good ol' Solstice. Also the addition of Jess in the vocals is a very good touch. Great album for a great band...
Un pezzo fantastico. Struggente ma allo stesso tempo pieno di energia positiva con una spannung da brividi.... complimenti, scrivo con l’emozione addosso.... spettacolari. Tonino da Sora (FR) Italia.
There is beauty everywhere; I try to find it in the smallest detail. But then there’s the Sublime that finds you - a beauty so pure that the will, the ego are released and you are transported. Words fail to define, you just know: the stars on a clear night, first rays of sunrise, love present in another’s eyes, this song. Thank you. My hometown had a terrible tragedy last year. I thought I had come to grips with it. But when I heard your overwhelming guitar solo for the first time, I felt some weight I had normalized, some secret poison, just fall away from my lifted spirit. The gifts of great music are mighty indeed!
Wow what a brilliant video! Well done all, it’s so professional and genuinely moving. The music is sublime, the spirit uplifting, the dramatisation beautiful and the execution perfection. Thanks for blessing my life with this.

Great song! I'm a progressive rock lover from way back - Caravan, Hatfield, Gentle Giant, etc. - although I played drums in punk/post punk bands in California for many years, but I have never heard your music before. I read about the new album in PROG magazine, and had a listen. Now I'm going to have to buy the album and explore the back catalogue. Oh yes, and lie to my friends - "What do you mean you've never heard of them? I've followed them for ages!" I must say though, one of the reasons I followed up on the article is that I was born on June 21st - The Summer Solstice - and so even just your name has personal resonance. Finally, I play guitar and keyboards adequately enough to write, and I am enamoured with the idea of recurring themes wending their way through albums. Often I'll write a riff and record it, then play with it and rock it up, and add it to something else, a different piece entirely. So I think the concept of dropping repeated artifacts into different songs on an album can knit the whole thing together, acting perhaps in a similar fashion to the way our minds work, weaving memories in and out of our immediate perceptions, which is, I guess, a big part of the way we feel about people we meet, art we see, books we read and music we hear. Be well.
Thanks so much! Fear not, most people have no idea who we are... even dedicated prog fans😁 But Sia is starting to change that and, like yourself, people are beginning to discover the music 40 years on, which, of course, is wonderful for us. Sia does feel like a new beginning or perhaps just finally making the album we’ve been working towards all these years. ✌️🙏
This is absolutely brilliant! Solstice are band I have been aware of since the early/mid 80s when I was getting heavily into Pendragon, Marillion, IQ and the likes, but some reason though I never followed up on them. No idea why, just never checked them out? Maybe because of the mid 80s disbanding? I was browsing the Internet yesterday...looking at bass transcriptions...as I do... I absolutely love this song and the whole album actually. Love it that not only with this song the album comes full circle (the main theme is already heard at the beginning of the album) but that circle is even bigger when you consider that there are lyrical references as well toward the first album Silent Dance. Is Jess also going to play acoustic guitar live with Solstice? That would be a great addition to the band's live sound.
If feel the same. The way the orchestral refrain from this tune starts the album (where it is evocative like a great film score) works beautifully. And the violin from 3:30 is one of ‘those moments’ - like the sustained guitar note in 'Guardian of my Soul' ... that just bursts open my tear ducts each time ... like only the best music can. Solstice saved the best till last! 😅 ‘A New Day’!!! An absolute triumph!
Thank you!’ Love that you spotted the SD reference 😀 Yes, Jess will definitely be playing acoustic live and we’ll also be working with extra singers so we can cover all her beautiful harmonies 😍
@@ChrisEchoes Lol - the same bass pedals used at the London Marquee gigs maybe? True tho’ - sub bass might be an interesting addition to the live version of this tune ... a while after the violin hits ... what a tune!👌

Hi Massimo, details of all the albums, releases and other news can be found here www.solsticeprog.uk
The logo artwork is by Marvel Comics artist, Barry Kitson, who also produced the artwork for Prophecy and Kindred Spirits. He's a contemporary, and a fan, of Roger Dean 😁🙏
Anyone got a link where I can buy this?
