    We do have a lot of potteries all over the islands we are still trying to understand. I am from Saipan of the Mariana Islands. Thank you for sharing.

    Wait a minute. Archaeologists actually seperated these peoples because of what they drew on their pottery? What's more racist than that?

      That's right. Archaeologists often group settlements of the past together based on shared cultural expression- such as art and architecture. One of the big struggles in the anthropology and archaeology communities is how to define what a culture is and how to categorize them (which more often than not leads towards racist ways in which social scientists have divided societies). Even in an era of formalized nation-states like today, it's not always as easy as stating a person's nationality when defining what culture they belong to (and which ones they don't).
