Agreed about the new design. Sorry, but to me the look is bland with little character. Am glad the food was not bland. I always thought the old design had lots of character. Will miss the fountain.
The new design of the Jazz Kitchen reminds me of a fancy McDonalds! I'm glad the food made up for the lack of theming that the restaurant deserves. I guess Disney didn't want the Jazz Kitchen to out do Tiana's restaurant. Thank you for the update!
I know the Chefs there, they are super cool and very knowledgeable in culinary. In my past year of learning in the kitchen I got to work with one of the chef, I learned so much that I finally got a job at Jazz Kitchen. This is my dream! I can't wait to start working and making beautiful dishes!

Your music choices are top notch found new music through videos. I picture you guys with the dogs driving at night in LA a la Michael Mann listening to synth wave dripping neon.
this couple transmits the joy intended in the location, their enthusiasm really brings a lot to the skilled presentation. I appreciate that, since I often lack the enthusiasm to attend such places, but retain a childhood memory of this kind of stuff as the greatest, so I am gratified to have such a pleasurable way to get updated on this stuff.
Finally an actual assessment of this restaurant. I loved the food and the upstairs is light and bright too. I was not a fan of the previous menu and interior design. This new iteration is a huge improvement.
The Jazz kitchen looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing. My husband and I have to eat there on our anniversary trip. I’m loving all the Pride merch too. Thanks for highlighting it. As a mom of two queer kids, it’s been disheartening seeing all the LGBTQ hate recently. It’s nice to see support from your channel. Makes this mama’s heart happy!
Yay!!! I’m glad you two made a video on the revamp Jazz Kitchen. I’m going to Disneyland for my birthday and we were planning to eat in Downtown Disney. Now we know where to go for to a nice place to eat. 😊
FYI, Kitra said there was a chance that Tortilla Joe's will be closing. Among other sources, if you believe David @Fresh Baked, it is a done deal that they will not only be closing Tortilla Joe's, but tearing down the building for another new restaurant they are bringing in. First, Happy Birthday, and if you like Tortilla Joe's at all, you might want to eat there before they put a grenade to the place. Jazz Kitchen is not going anywhere for now. Makes me sad, as I loved Joe's. Great food at a reasonable price. Where as the new Mexican restaurant they are bringing in, is a high priced gourmet establishment. Pretty soon, only the well to do will be able to eat in Downtown Disney. Oh yea, as to your Birthday Dinner, don't wait, as to what David has said, they were waiting for the Jazz Kitchen to be completed, and then say good by Joe's. Now you have made me think I should try to get reservations for Tortilla Joe's before it's too late. Anyone want to join me. Been a long time sense your Uncle Martin has closed an establishment. That's if I can remember?
i LOVE the song choice for the “Monorail to Disneyland” clip! idk why it made me feel so nostalgic and reminded me of stranger things. wish i was riding the monorail too!! i shazamed it 😂

I pumped my fist when it got the Ordinary Adventures star! This place holds a special place in my wife's and I's hearts. We used to go here so much when we were annual pass holders. Glad the remodel didn't take away from the food and drinks!
I'm glad to see the food looks amazing. I was the minority of people that wasn't up in arms about the remodel. While I enjoyed the old restaurant and it's theming, I liked the new look and feel they were going for. It reminds me of Disney Springs, and I hope to see the rest of DTD updated with the same look and feel. Definitely going to try the Jazz Kitchen on our next visit.

Feel so honored to be in the background of this video lol! Love you guys and your content; the channel is so fun for me and the fam - thanks for being so kind when we said hi! My thoughts on our meal as an adjunct to your most excellent review: Wife had the NOLA BBQ shrimp and grits which was pretty tasty. Succulent shrimp without any rubbery texture you sometimes get with scrimps. Sauced appropriately seasoned well with solid Tony Chachere-esque creole flavors, BBQ sweetness, garlic, lemon, and Worcestershire - layered nicely for an overall W. Parmesan grits were thick, creamy, and delicious and the tomatoes worked nicely to balance out some of the richness alongside the BBQ/creole seasoning and lemon. 4/5 French Quarter Po’boy dip was 5 out of 5 - super moist and tender shredded beef on nicely balanced soft/crusty french roll with an outstanding, savory and spicy au jus for dipping; the jus wasn’t your typical broth either it was thicker with an almost lighter gravy like consistency: nice and salty with lots of umami and a good hit of paprika and cayenne based creole spice. Complimented quite well with jammy caramelized onions and the crisp bite of some vinegary pickled peppers to balance out the savoriness of the overall piece. (soaked up every bit of that flavor blasted jus) The bananas foster beignets blew me away. Denser than Disneyland beignets, served piping hot with a sticky, super sweet caramel like glaze - felt like there was banana incorporated into the actual batter itself. Rich brown sugar and deep banana flavors alongside that classic yeasty, warm breakfast pastry platform; Soft with some bite/chewiness to them like thicc clouds of happiness. Served with a perfectly done creme anglaise as the finishing touch. Only thing that would improve this dish would be a dark, strong, piping hot cup of coffee laced with chicory. 10/10 I’d eat these for days. Only negative that comes to mind was French fries weren’t super hot when our plates came out. I also ordered a mocktail, Strawberry Nojito which was refreshing, but in keeping with Disney drink tradition was extremely sweet. I prefer my drinks a bit more dry but that’s just a personal preference. Kids meal was flatbread pizza which was firmly mid IMO but my 8 year old loved it. Can’t speak much to the revamp as this was the first time I’d eaten here but overall very pleased. For anyone wondering about all the criticism surrounding the remodel: it does feel a bit “bare” in person as far as decor goes and orange as a central color theme is always hard to pull off; Still, the space is pleasantly open with spacious breezeways and lots of natural light overall. IMO a bit more of a thematic touch here would go a long way. Concur on the excellence of the views here from several positions; perfect for DD people watching. Cheers!
I am so impressed by how well the food looks and how it was reviewed ... I loved seeing the bar area ... I kinda wish that the bar wood was painted (not that I would ever be the first one to advocate to paint over such beautiful wood) but I wish there were more of those New Orleans-y touches in the space
Thanks for the quick update video. OK - calling this out. Sorry... not sorry. I cant possibly imagine that the redesign of JKCGP is somehow linked to the Tiana Palace redesign of French market. The DtD redesigns are intended to make the shopping and dining experiences match other upscale shopping and dining areas around So Cal. Places like Fashion Island, South Coast Plaza, etc.I dont expect the Tiana Palace menu to be hugely different than previous menus. Interesting speculation but I highly doubt it. I guess design choices are forgiven if the food is good. The lounge looks very enjoyable. and, of course, now I must get beignets.
Haven't been to any Disney in many many years, but plan on it this year and will be using all your tips and critiques when it comes to eating at all the parks and locations. Love your reviews
Those beignets are so awesome! You are correct, they are better than the Mickey shaped ones in the park. I'm so disappointed that I won't be able to try the Fruity Pebble one as we won't be back until October. Keep up the fantastic content!
I agree with Peter in that the decor is fine for a new restaurant but an odd choice for one with a distinct theme of New Orleans! Glad the food is a better hybrid of the two cuisines.
I'm glad to hear the food is still great but I can't see myself eating there much after the renovation. Luckily I got to go last summer before the redo and got to listen to the live music and enjoy the atmosphere but for the prices I would rather go somewhere in Disneyland to eat and have both the atmosphere and good food.

@@OrdinaryAdventures your welcome 🤗. Sorry if it's annoying I'm just one of those times that I always like to check on people cuz how someone's doing can go from being good one day and not good the next.
The salmon is actually different! It used to be a Cajun blackened salmon with collard greens. The old Jazz Kicthen was aesthetically based on Brennan’s in the French Quarter, with each dining room having its own theme (“King Room,” “Queen Room,” “Chanteclair Room,” etc). Gumbo Ya Ya is a specific take on a chicken andouille gumbo recipe - there’s a restaurant called Gumbo Ya Ya right by the Mississippi! (Right by cafe du Monde). Look I don’t….HATE….the new restaurant lol. The food is great the drinks are great. It’s still run by Brennan’s restaurant group (for now). I think the charm is pretty stripped away (WHY didn’t they use a pastel Mardi Gras color scheme??? Pink and orange??? Palm Springs???? Where am I???) but I don’t hate the California twist on the food. I think they didn’t want the confusion and comparisons to Tiana’s, and they want to be able to move a new restaurant in if Brennan’s doesn’t renew their lease in a couple years (which would’ve been hard with the perfect, gorgeous theming before). I just hope….against hope against hope… that Disney consults either Brennan’s restaurant group and/or Dooky Chase in New Orleans (Leah Chase being the inspiration for Tiana) on the food at Tiana’s because right NOW the food in New Orleans square is like, barely Cajun creole adjacent. Brennan’s restaurant group knows what the heck they’re doing so I’m not surprised the restaurant is still great. I had my wedding rehearsal dinner at the actual Brennan’s in New Orleans, their food is so amazing. And the group owns a bunch of restaurants in Nola: Napoleon House, Ralph’s on the Park, Mr B’s Bistro - so they were never gonna be a schlub. I’ll be happy to eat at Jazz Kitchen as long as they’re in DTD. @ordinary adventures you two NEED to get to the actual New Orleans sometime before summer 2024, before Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opens! So you can explore the beautiful city and culture and food (it’s not all seafood Peter I promise) and music to compare ❤ Edited to add: OH I’m actually surprised they said they didn’t use the cafe du Monde mix because in the past they used to say they did! 👀 conspiraccyyyyy! But still their beignets look so much more dense and nice than the Mickey ones. I wish they hadn’t gotten rid of the quick service gumbo though!!!!
Thanks so much for such the insightful comment. I (Peter) have actually been to Nola quite a bit when I was writing about movies to visit movie sets. I’ve had a lot of good meals there but New Orleans food just isn’t my thing for the most part. Also I don’t know how people deal with all that humidity in a daily basis 😂

So you can explore the beautiful city and culture and food (it’s not all seafood Peter I promise) and music to compare ❤
Edited to add: OH I’m actually surprised they said they didn’t use the cafe du Monde mix because in the past they used to say they did!
Food looks amazing.
