    I must say that Warrel Dane's singing style is so different than any other singer I've heard in metal. Wish he was still here, making more music with Nevermore.

    • @PawelSorinsky

      He's a classically trained Opera singer.

    • @kevinstreet220
      @kevinstreet220 5 місяців тому

      @@PawelSorinskyhe lost the upper range of his voice due to alcohol, however, he adjusted his melodies accordingly. Sadly the alcohol killed him in the end 😢

    What makes Loomis such a badass is the fact that he plays his album stuff almost flawlessly at live shows. Those sweeps are ridiculous, and he does it for like a minute nonstop.

    That's metallic epicness from beginning to end!!
    And Warrel Dane is only human, he can't always hit every single note. This doesn't make his performance here less awesome.

    • @meshzzizk
      @meshzzizk 9 місяців тому

      i could never figure out if his main problem performing live was his his ear (i.e. either his relative pitch, chronic tinnitus from years of standing too close to concert speakers, or both), strained vocal chords, or his drinking. obviously all 3 factor in, but he had a baseline of formal vocal training, years of learning how to get through a show when you’re sick or worn down from the road, and a very exceptional voice. it seems
      like he should’ve been able to sound better than he generally did in live performances, even if he’d lost the upper register with age.
      warrel is one of my absolute favorite singers of all time which is why it vexes me that he never seemed entirely confident or controlled in his live singing after around the DHIADW/EOR period, when he started to lose the high notes along with his hair. dude wore hats, warbled inartfully, and often drank/got high before going on stage till he died. it’s sad. 😕

    Dead on. Well said. The singing is twisted ...but so is the melody and the musicianship !!
    ...Quite tasteful if you ask me...this band deserves all the praise it gets...They're the epitome of the "great elite metal band" in their respective genre like Symphony X , Dream Theater , Nile, Mors Principium Est, Meshugah, and a few others are in theirs...

    Thank you for sharing my view my friend. If anything, Nevermore deserves more praise and recognition. Symphony X, Nevermore and bands like these are what the multimedia should refer to as metal, not this metal-core and hardcore crap we get spoonfed...all that has led us to is a decade of metal-mediocrity or worse. Nevermore - Bringing truth and brutality back to what is known as metal.

    Warrell must've been singing a long time at that show because he sounds physically tired.
    I saw them live in Seattle one time and his voice had a lot more "oomph" and presence to it. Still, this is a great video. I think this song is one of the best they've ever done -- it's so epic!

  • @AbyssalFrost
    @AbyssalFrost 16 років тому

    The advantage of Warrel Dane's vocals is that he sounds like he's absolutely losing his mind while he sings...it fits well with their style of music, which could just as easily use death grunts as well, but it's nice to hear something different with brutal riffs and licks. He sounds less insane on his solo album...he's a good singer in his own regard, but for the heaviness of Nevermore, his wavery vocals fit very well, I think
