Sneaking onto a Ghost island in Cyprus

- I SUP boarded to an abandoned island in the middle of nowhere. Join me on an adventurous exploration of this spooky place in Cyprus.
This ghost island is located in Peyia, Cyprus and I saw it multiple times in the past years.
I was always fascinated by it and wanted to know what kind of hidden secrets this island has.
Eventually I decided to just take my SUP board and paddle over there. And I also took my camera with me to record the whole adventure.
I started in the morning and what was planned as a 2 hour trip turned out to be a whole day.
I definitely underestimated the power of the waves, the rocks and the whole idea as a whole. I do not recommend doing this, it was very dangerous!

They did excavations there it had a sanctuary to Apollo on it. The tarps found might be ongoing excavations. I think they called it holy island. It was occupied way back BC era. They have done a lot of different excavations there apparently. Very cool reading about it and wouldn’t have known if you didn’t do this. So very cool video.
Cleopatra had an altar dedicated to Apollo built on this lil island! Look up Yeronisos Island , amazing history. Great video keep it up. Greek-American here in love with Cyprus 🇨🇾🙏🏼🔥

Perhaps the most famous ghost village in Greece nowadays, Spinalonga is a tiny island located in the Gulf of Elounda in eastern Crete. Because of its strategic position, it was originally used for defense purposes, and an impressive fort was built there during the Venetian rule

I saw the island when I was looking at some villas in Cap St. Georges a few years ago and thought it must be a cool place for parties and stuff.
40 years ago, someone tried to build a hotel on the island but had to give up because they found ancient things like glass, coins and inscriptions. Since then, scientific excavations have been carried out there, allegedly to this day. So no parties. Some say that people have been trying to make use of the island since the 6th century, building shelters for animals and the like. Perhaps these are the remains of the small structures you saw.
The crumbling rocks are called marlstone.
Thx for this adventure and letting me watch from the comfort and safety of my sofa!
Edit: I just found that the excavating science dudes are running a program called Exec-U-Dig, where you pay 10k USD and can help them digging up old stuff on the island for a week. Actor Bill Murray of Ghostbusters fame took part in this a while ago.
So you saved yourself a lot of dough by going alone!

as much I know, it is not allowed to be on that Island. If somebody random would call to police, they send rescue helicopter to you, straight away.

Are there signs on the island stating “ Not Allowed”? If not, how would one even know whether you can or or not enter that island?
I didn't see any signs, and after researching I found out it's legal and allowed, but not recommended.
That would have been me in my youth! Explore and dangerous side! My most daring experience was in the 80’s when I attempted to help a beautiful East German girl to escape to West Berlin! Let me emphasize ATTEMPTED! Was never going to succeed!
