Pas tres beau pour une station de telle reputation comme Verbier. Ca rapporte combien sur 5 ans? Cest vraiment si indispensable que ca?

No of course it is not essential and it never has been. It is a waste of metal compared to the old one because the old one was mechanically unique, while this one is like every other Doppelmayr D-Line ever made before and after it, and it lacks any character or mechanical difference. That's the real deal with the old ski lifts. DIFFERENT MECHANICAL DESIGNS.
Besides that, modern corporate/federal or governmental people love to take away the special things, and to replace them with mainstream and up-to-date things that aren't special in the slightest.
The rest of society is full of greedy little children in adult bodies who expect everything to be up-to-date and will discriminate against anything that can't match the advantages of a filthy modern Doppelmayr D-Line or modern Leitner or Poma or something like that.
Old ski lifts will always be better than modern ones. They're alpine, they have NO mainstream tech cramped into them, and they are all mechanically different: thus they have character, something that 98.5% of modern ski lifts around the world lack.

@UC_UmqZN_pkGxbk0nv0bv3sw I am an enthusiast of vintage Pre-21st century ski lifts, so... but if there is one thing I AM grateful for it's that the 90% you described doesn't beg for filthy modern 10-MGD's like such a pathetic excuse of a lift as a D-Line from Doppelmayr.
Again, the old ski lifts are mechanically different while the modern ones are not. In an old ski lift, it gives the vibes of being in a ski resort as they should. In a modern one? Modern filthy ones give the vibes of being in your typical London or Manhattan or something. Modern corporate business people are utterly rubbish and they should F off and leave the good old fashioned things alone this instant. So should governmental people especially.
If an old ski lift is damaged, they should fix it. If it's brittle to the point it breaks after every repair made, then replace it. That wasn't the case with Medran 1 (the 1984 lift). Nearly every old ski lift around the world has never became brittle.

@@dariomenchi2703 Both the media facades and the modern Medran gondola lift are filthy.
Modern gondola lifts are of maximum filth, in my opinion.
