I also bought the TRD Hybrid. Only 500 miles on it and loving it. I also ordered a truck cap so now I have tons of storage space which keep things nice and dry. Cheers
@donays8241 Thanks! I have test drove the non hybrid 3 times. I would say the biggest difference is the hybrid is faster and gets slightly better gas mileage.
Are you sure you bought one with the hybrid engine? If so, keep an eye on your rpm gage, it should drop to zero at stop lights or driving downhill. Mine switches to hybrid mode by itself dozens of times during my drive.
The new tacoma hybrid isn't a complete failure, but it falls very short of it's full potential. The electric motor has too much overlap with the turbo's optimal rpm range down low. I don't know if it was budget, supply, or too close to performance of the tundra, but the hybrid should have come with a completely different turbo than the non-hybrid, allowing the electric motor to handle sub 3K RPM, leaving the turbo fully functional the rest of the way. Its current setup = blowing it's load down low and falling on it's face up top. Would have also yielded better overall mpg not being so trigger happy on the boost. Depending on how well Toyota built the motor, I'm predicting the non-hybrid will be the winner within 2 years, once the aftermarket catches up. Drop-in turbo, intercooler, piping, and very conservative tune, it'll easily be in that Ranger Raptor hp/tq and performance without the extra weight and reduced payload from batteries like the hybrid.
So compared to the regular gas Tacoma…. With the hybrid you loose 500 pounds in towing capacity, hybrid only gets an extra 100 pounds load capacity, and gas mileage only slightly increases to 24 mpg compared to the gas Tacoma which is 21. Idk if it’s worth the extra $4,000.
@Dnt461 Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone, personally I think the extra power is worth it. I'm not planning on doing much towing more off road or fun driving lol. But yeah, you definitely have to make sure if it would be worth it for you.

@@BPAX Awesome, they really are great trucks.
I'm 6'1", size 13 shoe. I feel your pain. I'm in Bristol TN
Definitely no fun lol
Nice truck. I hope transmission holds up good luck.
@@josephmorales9625 Thanks! And fingers crossed!
AFAIK, at least in the TSB, the hybrid is not included unless it has changed.
Good information.
Have driven the non-hybrid? Any drive experience, any differences?

how can you utilize hybrid mode on the tacoma? I have had my tacoma for over a month now and I swear I haven’t been able to use it 😭😭

I’m at 700 miles and averaging 17.6. Non hybrid TRD OR
@@georgia_flyfisher2200 ohh wow. Are you mostly driving in the city or interstate?
@@TheTacomaEnthusiast this is mostly city driving at this point. Hope to get a little better in the future

I never do any towing from my 2024 Tacoma Hybrid TRD Sport so that was not a requirement for me. The performance it has is awesome!
1500 miles on mine and love it so far. Bought it for the HP and torque. I have the TRD Offroad premium
