- Router planes are a great tool for working shallow mortices - hinge gains, inlay, door locks, trimming tenons and the like. But a pain to sharpen, so most of use tend not to bother, until now!!!

If you’re triggered thinking I bought politics into it, think again, I brought humour into it and that’s all!
My old school routers work just fine I’ll stick with them. Good to have an alternative to Veritas though.
Never thought for a min I’d separate you from the golden oldies dude 😆
I have an old one works perfectly I don’t need more. But it’s nice to know about new choices
I'm actually reviewing another of his models currently too Ben, and I'm really glad you've said you like it, cos I love mine. Absolute joy to use and it's already helped me make the most nicely fitting tenons I've ever done. I don't have another brand to compare it too though so I wasn't 100% if I loved it cos I was having fun, or if it actually was a good tool, glad to see its the latter!
I think I’d have a few more of them to be honest! Reminds me need to put that veritas on fleebay! Nic to hear you’re improving your skills, it’s a lovely feeling those small wins!!! Hope you’re well dude, hope you had a lovely weekend!!! 🍻🍻🍻
I own/tried only one router plane, similar one but aliexpress wider version with small wooden handles. It cuts fine but the bottom plate was not flat and it is steel. After trying to flatten it i saw it took to much time. Also i noticed it made track signs like on yours. So i epoxied a piece of wooden piece/sole and it work fine now (no track signs).
My only complain is that has short depth of cut.
P.s. The removable blade holder is actually great idea where you could make whole new body to fit your needs/hands (to lazy to do it, prefer to make things out of wood then tools 😁)
They all do it, the veritas too. Funny that was the first thing I checked and was fine, the plane you’re talking about is a copy of the cowryman planes, funny when you think the Chinese copy their own 😂 I can see it would be handy if you need to get right into a corner 👌
Ended up selling my Stanley 71 in the end, as I hated having to sharpen the odd shaped blade. Ended up making the Paul Sellers router plane… It’s so much more logical to set the blade at the cutting angle, meaning the blade can then be sharpened just the same as any chisel. No idea why modern many big tool makers continue to make these planes to such an inferior design, whilst then trying to come up with ‘clever’ solutions to the issue of sharpening!
Amen to that man!!! I remember watching Paul sellers sharpening one for 30 mins, yeah fuck that!! 😂
That was fuckin awesome
Cheers Rob! Hope you had a lovely weekend 🍻🍻🍻
Should have switched to the 3mm blade during the inverted flyover... looks like giving the finger :P hahahaaha
Fuck yeah!!! Bugger I didn’t think about that, great idea dude!!! Two heads and all that… 🍻🍻🍻
Do you speak English? Which tool is which?
I speak to languages, good English and bad English. The dark tool is that veritas. 👍
@@HewAndAwe Well, I suppose we have the language part in common. This was a very good video as I have a rabbeting/rebating plane, albeit a cheap one. I got the iron well sharpened, but it still lacks in performance. I've been contemplating buying a good one, but I needed more information. Thanks for getting back to me. 🔨
Hi, Ben! I would love to buy a veritas plane, but we have them too expensive. Thank you for the video!
The prices went nuts when Covid happened and difficult to find them in stock let alone afford them 🤦🏻♂️
Been wanting one of those cheap one for a long time, but I just got the cut steel when I finaly ordered it, so doh... should have read the fine print closer 😵💫
Sorry I don’t follow?? 😬
@@HewAndAweI did not get the complete router, i thought I bought a full plane, never order things at late nights, 😊
Ben, I'm really glad that you decided to do a video of this handplane as I've been looking at them for a couple of months and still couldn't make my mind up, which I now have 👍cheers buddy and I have to say.Unknown boggie 🤔 looks like a giant dick to me oldlad 😅😂.
Lmfao!!! Cheers dude, hope you’re having a good’n!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Which is best with or against the grain ?
That’s solely down to your sharpening dude. Both hold the blade sturdily enough, both will let you know you need to sharpen if you can’t already see it.
@@HewAndAwe
thank you I was wondering A what it was and what it did - of to buy one ☝️ and a channel newbie
@@doozerakapuckfutin welcome dude!!! 😊 Hope you’re having a wicked weekend!!! 🍻🍻🍻
I always love your reviews, even if it's not something I'm in the market for I know it'll be packed full of great unbiased info with your trademark humour. Cheers mate!
Cheers Sam, I’m hoping people start to work that out cause they never do well in the views! Hope you had a lovely weekend dude!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Strangely cayene pepper stops blood almost instantly....and doesn't sting like the c**t you would expect it to.
Good video! Cheers.
Really?!? I gotta ask, how on earth did you find that out??? 😂 I mean if someone said pepper works great for cuts and doesn’t sting I’d thing yeah on your bike son 😂
I use the pull stroke on a more difficult cut. I find it's way more controllable. No lunging forward.
I find it’s grain dependent to be honest.
Ben, even when thing become come a bloody mess you still knock out a bloody great video! Take care and hanger high!
Hey dude! Nice to see ya!!! 🍻🍻🍻
Nice video dude. Gotta be honest never used one these plains before although they look from what you've shown and others ave seen super handy. May need save the pennies and get one. Hope your good m8 🏴👏👍
They are when you trust them! Cheers dude, hope you had a lovely long weekend!!! 🍻🍻🍻
@@HewAndAwe I'll maybe have to look into it based on your recommendation! 🏴👍 take it easy keep videos coming
Excellent video Ben. I don't own a router plane but interesting none the less
Thank you matey 🍻🍻🍻
Great video, did you ever work out what the ball bearing was for?
Cheers Chris, yeah the idea is to help not damage the blade, I’m not so fussed and I’ll defo loose it at some point anyway. Was odd when I opened that up and that rolled out thought I was tripping 😂
Great video Ben that liquid band aid stuff is awesome I use it too
It’s soldered up some cuts that should of been stitched up for me, highly recommend it! Hope you’re having a wicked weekend fella!!! 🍻🍻🍻
@@HewAndAweThanks for the video.
I’ve known guys who used Super Glue to close cuts.
@@einy2crikeybeen there done that as ex professional chef busy service cut yourself 1 of 2 options either fierce heat to close it which hurts like f**k or super glue both work well.
Nicer than my 3D printer chisel plane!
Lol now I’ve heard it all! Doesn’t that flex twist etc under load?
@@HewAndAwe Nope! does a grand little job
Great vid Ben love the review and the mix… outstanding…..
Thanks buddy 🍻🍻🍻
Great content as usual..too bad you sprung a leak..super glue is good at stopping leaks..
It defo smells similar, stings just as much for sure doesn’t come with the activator spray, I’m usually blowing it dry. They should do that idea!

Love the videos so funny and great wood - work.
Thank you Patrick, I appreciate the compliment dude! I hope you’re well! 🍻🍻🍻
Anither reason why you need to keep going! Great video
Cheers mate, I’m thinking reevaluate Christmas time, if still operating at a loss then put the bunny down and walk away. 😬
where on earth did that hitler song come from? we used to sing that in school too!
I thought it was just a school rhyme, then the first upload I got a copyright infringement and was like what the fuck!
I love the internet, you find everything

@chrisedie2307 reads like it was the soldiers made it up and some sod then coined it in by making the beats 🤦🏻♂️
I have the 040 model and it is also very nice :)
That’s the little version right?
@@HewAndAwe Right, but the upgraded version with the bigger handles. The basic model is the 003
@@natalirivero467 I had to play the vid back to see ,was the first thing I noticed was the handles being splayed out and thought that’s better!
@@HewAndAwe Yeah, it has better ergonomics and I also like the way it looks :)
Where can you buy these from ?
The link should be in the description 👍
I am retard 😂 thanks 👍
thanks
You’re welcome ☺️
Far too much time screwing around getting to the point.
Well to be perfectly honest, in my humble opinion, of course without offending anyone who thinks differently from my point of view, but also by looking into this matter in a different perspective and without being condemning of one's view's and by trying to make it objective, and by considering each and every one's valid opinion, I honestly believe that I completely forgot what I was going to say.
