This music visualizer was made using Grasshopper and Rhino. Plugins used are Firefly, Kangaroo, Grasshopper and WeaverBird. The sound is captured using Firefly and mapped into the spring length. As the frequency changes with sound, so does the length of each curve, which in turn creates the bounce in the mesh.
I'm learning grasshopper now, this is so cool.
Thanks. Tip: Use Bifocals.
Yes, I have started using the Bifocal plugin for my recent videos. Please check them out! Thanks for the feedback though.
@@CreativeMutation thank you again. Thanks for share.
nice
you edit out so much useful information. what change did you make to kangeroophysics at 03:29 ?
This is from old kangaroo, you need to use the new components. I have another video for Kangaroo, you can check out how to configure the components there.
awesome tutorial, love it but why did you used mobile version? i can´t find some components. I´m suffering
Hello, thanks for the tutorial. But where do you find the node "mesh > data" ?
Same Question
It looks like MeshCorner on Kangaroo2, but it translated mesh to corner not data
Yes, its the MeshCorners component in Kangaroo 2.
i could not understand which type of scripts did you use....
hello, I'm learning grasshopper and your video is really helpful. I'm trying to do with trigger instead ms, and can I know what did you click in 5:23 ? mine doesn't react at all.
Looks awesome! I tried all morning to do that but only the lines go up and down, but the surface does not move. Does someone maybe know why? I checked all the connection in grasshopper and they are the same as this project. HELP PLEASE.
Hey Miriam, can you write to me on my Instagram page instagram.com/CreativeMutation
hello, nice tutorial. In Kangaroo 2.0 is no spring component, do you know the alternative component?
download kangeroo 0.99 and you'll have springs
You can use Length (Line) component. They are basically the same. I also have another webinar for Kangaroo 2 on my channel please have a look to adapt this definition to K2.
Hi, thank you for your amazing lecture ! When you downloaded firefly, which version did you download? I tried downloading , but It seems that some component is missing and I am in trouble now.
I am not sure, as I have updated my Rhino and Gh plugins a couple of time since then. Which component are you using? Sometimes, the components are missing because you forgot to unblock all the components in the component folder by right clicking, going to properties and unblocking.
@@CreativeMutation Thank you for your comment! I could resolve it😊
Is there a way to use audio from a sound file instead of audio from the mic?
Yes, you can use Mosquito plugin to use mp3 wav files as input.
@@CreativeMutation Are there any component of Mosquito that does the same performance as 'Smoothed Average' of firefly ?
@@大庭檀 you can use record data component, right click the record data component and limit data to 10 iterations, connect an average component at the output. This will average the last 10 values recorded in data recorder and is more or less like the smooth average.
Hi, thanks for the tutorial. I don't understand at the beginning of the tutorial, how you do to add the time "ms" at your mesh component? And when you begin to use Firefly, at 5 min 47 s, you put the component "Sound Capture", you add a component that has a red arrow, in ms units, where it is? Other thing is, can we import a wave file, or mp3 file in Grasshopper / Firefly, and how to do this, please?
Thanks! :-)
The Grasshopper plugin has changed in the following years. Now there is a component called trigger to do the same Job.
To import the wave or mp3, use the mosquito plugin.
Could I contact you about this script? Thanks!
Yeah sure! If you have Instagram, write to me on instagram.com/CreativeMutation
Is the final visualization also possible in realtime, that is, for the live music performance?
This was captured in realtime. I used OBS to screen capture. So yes, theoretically you can use this for a music performance!
sorry, but if you teach in the same way, as you do tutorials, than the kangaroo workshop you´re marketing is worthless. with text hidden and icons instead of full names makes browsing through components ridiculously anoying. i think it will be faster building own script, than follow the "tutorial".
This is not a tutorial. It's just a timelapse of how it was made. You can check my other Webinars, they are tutorials. This is not.
