- The LEGO 10323 PAC-MAN Arcade is an unexpected LEGO release that packs a lot of what I really like about LEGO sets! Interesting builds with great play functions and hidden secrets! Minus the atrocious building steps... And the slightly steep price.

here's a neat little fun fact: Inky moves around in the lower right corner, which is actually something that happens in game in the lesser known Scatter mode which intermittently happens during gameplay. if scatter mode lasted long enough, Inky would circle that specific block over and over.
Another neat little fun fact the maze in Pacman is actually Anvil shaped
Yes! Blinky has something too, more you play the distorted Blinky gets! He gets faster the more mazes you complete!
Yeah. If inky were in scatter mode. So would pinky clyde and blinky (unless he was in cruise Elroy mode).
That’s a phenomenal fact. I’ve played hundreds of hours and never knew this.
Lol “inky” isn’t a real pac-man animal or whatever kind of creature it is. Fun fact: it’s a video game, Binky isn’t actually a real living thing 😆
I expected this to just be a static display piece but the motion actions?? Absolutely insane mechanics
Should see the Super Mario TV set.
dunno about insane mechanics. kind of somewhat basic automaton motions. it's cool, no doubt, but far from what i would call genius.

This is one of those sets that is absolutely incredible when it shouldn’t even exist
Kinda want it, I have the NES and ? Block but I guess the big Bowser would match better. This one is absolutely adorable though
@@funkinfungoid Do you have the same issue with the NES set?
@@funkinfungoid I have the NES too, and I’m leaning towards wanting the Atari and this of o wasn’t a broke kid, so maybe some other time. Summer is the perfect time to build that tho

The quality of Lego sets has gone up dramatically just within the last 5 years or so. I remeber that fans used to say, "Look at all these wonderful MOCs. Why can't official Lego products be THIS cool?" Lego is more expensive than ever yes, but starting maybe 3 years ago, starting round the time they started focusing more on Adults Welcome sets, people no longer say this because official Lego sets are staggeringly good these days.
Except half of the sw sets they release
@@Gvoudw Dont even get me started on Ninjago, yes they just released one of the best waves ever but core...💀💀💀
@@rexpower5022 to be fair to core, it is designed to introduce newer, younger, fans into the franchise
@@CybertrooperOfficial True, and maybe its just the nostalgia but for core they didnt rlly try i think
Just look at the evo dragons, a 5 year old could have built that if he had the bricks💀
I wish I had this, the NES Mario set, and the Atari set all on display next to each other. All that together is almost one grand together.
This is probably the best usage of these Lego chains that I've ever seen. The grey chains on Mando's ship engines were cool, but this is truly a special and totally utilitarian use of the pieces for specifically what they are. Amazing.
The reason it seems to crank backwards is because there is error in the instructions. If you look at the photo on the box, the chain is applied the other way round, so it will go in correct direction.
At the same time, the box shows the crank being turned the 'incorrect' way by that arrow around it.
Your reviews are quite detailed and very helpful.
I try! Thank you!
At 5:19 when you talk about the direction of the crankshaft. Try mirroring the gear on the right so that you have "yellow+gear+gray+gray" instead of "gray+gray+gear+yellow". This should make them run the opposite direction. The other one cannot be mirrored , but that does not matter much.
Another fix would be to simply turn the tile with pacman printed 180 degrees to make him run forward instead of backwards.
Thanks for a nice review!
Thanks. Glad I read your comment. Dunno why I didn't think to do that after messing up the differentials on my Sian recently 🤯
you could turn the pacman tile 180 degrees and swap the Pac Man and Inc tiles so Pinky is still chasing
Lego did a good job with this set! Definitely reminds me of the classic game.
The out-of-the-box Lego sets are always my favorites to build. I loved the typewriter and piano and figuring out how what I was building was going to work in the final build.
Seeing those maze tiles makes me think we need a Tetris set. Not sure if tiles have been produced in the T and L shapes before, but it could be done.
*_deep breath_*
I AM THE ONE WHO ARRANGES THE BLOCKS THAT DESCEND UPON ME FROM UP ABOVE! THEY FALL DOWN AND I SPIN THEM AROUND 'TIL THEY FIT IN THE GROUND LIKE HAND IN GLOVE!
As somebody who is obsessed with retro gaming this set is a must have for me! The mechanism looks absolutely amazing too!
I literally was just looking up reviews for this five minutes ago. THANK YOU!
Happy to provide
NES, Atari, and now Pac-Man, I love this! I hope Lego would get to Game Boy, Super Nintendo and perhaps the original PlayStation one day.
OMG, the mechanism is insane! Now I want the set even more.
I don't know why UA-cam threw me into this corner of the site but I love this. I would never have believed that not only would Pac-Man get an incredible lego set but that they'd pour so much love into the designs. Pac-Man absolutely deserves this kind of awesome stuff.
Welcome to the LEGO corner of UA-cam!
@@TiagoCatarino Thank you!
4:12 I'm sure this has occurred before, with one of the larger sets? maybe Titanic, Colosseum, etc.
I want this lego set so bad
As someone who spends most of my time playing games, I really like it when LEGO releases sets based around gaming. I’ve already started building the set and I am thoroughly enjoying it (building the same thing 64 times doesn’t bother me as I built the Eiffel Tower).
Yeah, this is the kind of Lego that you cannot escape from. Very nice.
Only if you eat a power pellet
In theory, couldn't you just rotate pac man 180 degrees so that he is chasing the two ghosts when you wind the crank clockwise?
I was thinking that as well.
Wish they would include vulnerable blue ghosts to make that effect work
Better yet, how about change over the Pacman with the red ghost tile positions around? then it would still have the same effect of the two ghosts chasing Pacman and the crank can be wound clockwise.
@@tma6701 yeah the upside down ghosts still bother me. I am pretty sure there’s a way to engineer them so they flip right side up (maybe adding a few notches to their peg so only they reorient themselves at the corners)
The chain mechanism in genius!
most interested in how people will use the new element for creative builds
@@jacobe1942 was thinking the same thing
Gotta love that function
when you also take into consideration the custom pieces and the prints it makes more sense why it's that pirce. Plus the work done by the engineers to make it work.
Utterly brilliant. Hats off to the designers
Really love the look of it. Plus the great mechanics..But the big turning pacman on top of the arcade is the only thing I really want...
You could probably do a MOC of it
LEGO not pricing this at $256 is one of the all time biggest missed opportunities.
Ha! Brilliant! They absolutely should have!
I have the pacman and the nes and can completely relate to the way the nes jams. Pacman is indeed more refined. Love both sets!
I've found that the NES jams because the clear disk behind Mario is being pushed right up against the screen and so is jams if the screen is uneven. A very simple fix for this is to move the whole Mario assembly away from the screen a little to give the disk some clearance. This does require you to remove a piece or two from the screen cover but it's not noticeable from the outside at all.
This is one of the best sets ever made in my opinion so it's really is a shame about that price. Hopefully it gets discounted sooner rather than later. I do wish it used more prints though like the NES did, but I completely understand the use of stickers for the large tiles. As someone who's wanted to use those linked chains in builds but just found them too annoying to integrate them into the main LEGO system, that new link piece is incredible. There's as infinite amount of possibilities from the existence of that piece.
I like what I'm seeing with the rise of gears and mechanisms in normal LEGO sets like in this and the new Friends beach set. I also love how both sets are designed to easily be able to see the actual mechanism to appreciate the engineering involved in getting it to rn.
7:29 I know that $270 is a bit overpriced but the Nintendo system costs the same price currently with the price increase
I would LOVE to see a 3re party option to replace the crank with a motor, switch and battery or USB plug to let it just keep running. Also an 3rd party sound module that you could add the game sound effects yourself to as this would be too hard to license for a 3rd party and Lego just wouldn’t offer it.
lego icons/creator expert continues to prove it's the best product line
That mechanism blew me away!!! Wow!
7:08 that modular builing is so beautiful!
epic videos mate. Clear, concise and to the point. It also helps you literally worked for LEGO. Thanks for being an ambassador to the community.
Great set. I am looking forward to see another one release the one with the big minifigure. Great review
LEGO 40649? Should I review it?
@@TiagoCatarino yes Tiago go do your job
Yes that is the set. I really appreciate each one of your reviews. If you Want to make a review of the set i would 100% watch it.
I really appreciate your reviews specially about the set I already like it makes me like them even more. Great video as usual
This is an amazing looking set that I really want. The Minifig scale Pacman arcade cabinet will look really good with the Defender arcade cabinet that came with LEGO Dimensions.
I might have to save up for this one...
Not quite building the same structure more than 64x, but the building instructions for the Eiffel Tower ask you to place a round one-stud piece 144x in a single step, 263. In step 80, you do have to build 48 mini-lamps with 3 pieces each, and in step 336 you have to snap into place and align 72 rods, so you may want to steer clear of that set, as you have so far :-). I actually did not find it too boring, by spreading the build over several weekends and listening to my favorite tunes on the more repetitive parts. The final result is monumentally fantastic and I haven't gotten tired of admiring it almost 6 months later!
Dagobah diorama had me putting down 176 trans green 1x1s in one step
There's that infamous step in the Ideas Ship in a Bottle set, but you can just pour the bag there. The real repetitive steps I've experienced were on the Globe where each section of the crust had to be built 16 times, plus the tiles that make up the land, the ship, and the labels. Definitely a build I had to do over a few days. I can't imagine the commitment it takes to be a LEGO store employee and, I imagine, having to build the displays basically in one sitting. (Any LEGO store employees in the chat who can confirm or deny that hypothesis?)
@@SupersuMC Your comment made me look at the instructions for the World Map, just out of curiosity. On page 97 you have to place 247 white one-stud circle tiles on a 16x16 Technic brick. In fact, for every step you have to place 256 pieces on a 16x16 Technic brick. I think I'd rather step barefoot on a small LEGO brick than to endure the torture of building the World Map... And yes, much admiration to the LEGO employees who put such sets together at the LEGO stores.
@@SupersuMC i believe Tiago designed that set 😂
They were building one at the Lego store while I was there 2 days ago. Was a lot bigger than I thought it would be
Great review Tiago! Exactly what I was looking for to check out the cool mechanics. The function works better than I expected. Incredible job by the designers! However, I’d still choose Ninjago City Markets over this as I’m a sucker for modulars.
Amazing engineering! Shame about the very high price. (Well, that applies to pretty much everything LEGO these days...) I'm an OG who remembers the arcade PAC-MAN units in the local pizzaria in 1981. I can still recall munching on my pepperoni pizza while hearing the constant WAKA-WAKA-WAKA-WAKA going on in the background. Good times.😎
You could swap blinky and pacman on the build to change the orientation for the lever mechanism, that way it works the opposite way?
If you reverse the orientation of pacman, won't the crank rotating the opposite direction work and look (mostly) correct?
When my NES started getting jammed I just had to make sure all of the tiles were pushed in as the should be. It was frustrating for a while, but an easy fix fortunately!
Lifelong Pac-Man fan here... this is gorgeous and very surprising that it exists at all. Video game fans are totally eating in the modern day. We got Mario, Atari, Sonic.. and this?! What?! So cool. Main criticism for many must be that's a way too expensive set (prohibitively, really!), as always with the Lego Company which continuously deeply disappoint me as a business with over-charging for their plastic despite them often delivering great quality and stunning creativity. Cool video, subbed!
This is what I want, A REVIEW!
Nice work Tiago keep up the useful reviews
Been waiting for this one
Another fantastic video Tiago 😀😀. That is such a great set. So many memories of the original game. Andcthecplay features are great 🎉🎉
On a separate note, also my Nes TV is jammed. Any idea what is causing that and how to fix? I've tried removing the screen mechanism and reinserting as I thought something got loose but very little improvement.
Great review on this one! Thanks Tiago!
If you like the 25c arcade light there is a keychain you can buy of one of those. It lights up and all. Only thing is it’s a bit expensive for a Keychain. 15 dollars or so. Good for a gift.
I really love this set, it's a great display set. I will wait with buying it, hoping for a great discount in a few months.
Regarding the crank's spin orientation: can't you just put the icons on the screen so they go the other way around? That way you can totally spin the crank in the "normal" direction.
I saw this in the London Lego shop on display for “coming soon” and it was really cool!
2:44 ok this is amazing lol
Nice review mate, now im really hyped to check it lol myself
May I ask what lighting you’re using on the backside of the shelves (the wood shelves with the blue - I assume - led lighting)? I’m trying to setup a similar display. Thank you and I enjoy your videos!
An amazing one off/nostalgic Lego set only marred by the price. While I fully appreciate the amount of detail/prints and technical/building solutions no one can really ignore how expensive these sets have gotten over the past two years. Primary reason seems to be Lego feels the price justifies what's being built not just the components/pieces it's built from. Same could basically be said for the Technic theme as a good percentage of the piece count is just pins, and axels which shouldn't be anywhere near the 10 cents per piece mark to produce sell. Only other complaint is the use of stickers at all at this point as a premium display item shouldn't have to rely on them at this price point.
Modern LEGO sets are still cheaper than vintage ones were back in the day.
@@Rocket1377 Especially taking inflation into account. You have to pay not only the designers, but everyone else involved in production and distribution. You can't sell just based on cost of materials.
Still cheaper than many of the UCS Star Wars sets
On a couple of the corners on mine the ghosts and pac man keep catching so it isn't completely fluid. Does anyone know how to stop it? It's the corner of the blue and black plate that it seems to be catching on so when I remove that it doesn't do it 🤔
Looks amazing. Another one I wasn’t planning on but think I now want lol
I would so replace that with a screen and keep the knob that would be so cool
Omg he functions are soo cool
Great set. Will definitely get it for myself.
By the way, my NES TV mechanism still works flawlessly after having it built back when it launched.
I like that review is honest as always 😊
Great review, thanks.
That’s amazingly clever. Like someone said here, the quality of Lego sets, the designs has taken a leap forward over the past three years. Excellent review as always. I think I would miss this one though. Too many small pieces perhaps
When the characters turn anyways can't you just place them upside down and have them move the forwards when turning the hand crank the other way?
That way they'll be upside down when at the top and right side up when at the bottom but move in the other way. Or am I thinking wrong?
Just purchased this! glad you bought up the mario NES set because i was just thinking about this when you were talking about the crank.
Sadly....mine appears to get stuck too. Can't figure out why though
Amazing review! I have a question: What is the size once it's fully assembled? Including the top decoration of Pac-man and the ghosts. Thanks!
Hi, you mentioned something about the jammed mechanism of the typewriter. Could you talk about it with more detail?
I love watching your videos!
As a big arcade fan, I would love to see a line of Arcade builds in the future. They have the Namco licence is seems so Galaga was pretty popular and could work. And of course they have Sega and Nintendo on board. Donkey Kong Arcade would fly off the shelves.
this set is amazing...they really knocked it out of the park...
I just wish the minifigure-scale arcade machine was available separately.
A gem of a set! A bit expensive but a great one!
Definitely picking this up
Can you use power functions with it incase you want to stop the crank and have it be automatic?
Nice review 👌
This wi look great next to my Atari set with custom pacman cartridge and mini display set. Cant wait to get this.
The old age question of- ‘is it just worth buying the real thing over Lego’ 😂
Wow such a cool set!
I just can’t wait to see your double/complete Disney castle!
Wow, that looks incredible
That is absolutel awesome. Only thing to top it would be if pacman would actually "eat" some points (which would reappear after the ghosts have gone through this section). Guess some work for modification 😎
I wonder if you could build the other two ghosts that are missing from the top section for a complete set.
This is just brilliant!
Great vid as always.! I'm glad I watched it. I would likely never have considered purchasing it based on the box + nostalgia + price.
Built it in 2 and a bit days fun and great Lego set
If you swap Blinky and PAC-man the crank can be rotated clockwise (intuitively)
Seeing the mini build makes me really want a Lego modular arcade! Could see it being combined with an Optometrist as a nice bit of classic Lego humour.
Now that's a fun idea ahah, the kind of storytelling you'd see in a modular! Nice!
This is actually incredible
ill consider getting it because I like going to arcades playing the timless classic
How does this compare to bowser as far as size? (Height and width)
Really enjoyed building this!
Does anyone have a suggestion on how to stop or reset the mario nes set from jamming (as mentioned in the video)?
Like this lego set so much!
