The New York court system is a joke
As proved by the sham trial and payed off jury verdict of President Donald Trump. Thankfully it will be overturned and come November, he will win by a LANDSLIDE due to it!!
The only ones who make any money are the lawyers.
4 years no rent is crazy. Just sheet disrespectful
100%
I signed that lease three to four months go past I'm going to start thinking about it I'm not going to give him almost $3,000 a month for that s***
Good riddance. Nomore squatters
So disgusting. He should be jailed
Charging $2700 for that apartment is disgusting
@@boris2997exactly
Absolutely! He owes this man almost $150,000 in unpaid rent!
@@Thegoddessgenesis You have no idea how much those landlords pay for the mortgage and so you have no room to inject your opinions.
@@IceLynnethe landlords are corrupt, I have no sympathy for that 🤷🏽♀️
It’s theft. Throw his ass in jail.
Laughable. This is nyc and you and I know that it's not gonna happen.
Jail ? That's funny, nobody goes to jail in NY.
@@craig162Especially...
They can’t it’s a civil case can only be sued
Debt is not theft. We got rid of debtors prison for a reason. Do you have any idea how many Americans would be thrown in prison if we enforced this standard? Tens of millions.
Never accept a partial rent payment. You can reset the eviction process by doing so
Celebrity Chef might be a stretch.
Crimmal Chef...entitled and a total idiot. The landlord will never recover his/her losses. The Justice System is a joke....

Human garbage
$150k down the drain. Plus court costs.
He was just taking advantage of the stupid legal system that we have.....nothing new here.
If you can't afford to live in NY, then don't live there. Dude's entitled!
Rent is cheaper in Pennsylvania.
@@ontheroad5555 Exactly. He could commute to work. Even if he decided to live in Jersey or upstate, it would've been cheaper.
BUM
Free loading monster is what he is👿
Fame and money don't raise your CLASS.
Now put him in JAIL , he’s a criminal
this is one of the reasons why I keep my THUGS friend around, pay up or get out.
4 years is unacceptable!!!
This is about the Judicial System Milking Everyone for Money
.... Less Drawn Out Appearances = Less Money
He is not a celebrity chef 😂😂😂😂
It is all his fault, he just felt entitled to not to pay anything.
I would like to hire him at one of my restaurants, let him work for two weeks, and then not pay him anything. Not one cent. and then, he’s not welcomed back on the premises, and good luck getting your money big boy. I’ll make it tiresome for you
And you would lose. The law protect the masses, and that is the employee. He could sue you for stealing wages, no days off, working more than 40 hours without getting overtime, etc. And if your restaurant is well known, you would not want the bad publicity from say he is not getting paid because he is african american
When do we start?
He’d probably end up trashing your restaurant and breaking the windows lol
Why is this news??? 🙄 The amount they’re asking for should be reported.
Don’t just be mad with him, be upset with the system and judge for allowing the appeals.
Small apartment for that amount.
That's NYC, but it is a better neighborhood.
Right, that's too much
Buy a house be a home owner it's not worth $2,000 a month for that apartment😂
He agreed to it.
2700 a month 😳
I just said it's not worth $2,000 so if it's not worth $2,000 it's damn sure not worth $2,700
Houses in that area go for $6 to $12 million. A 1 bedroom condo runs around $800k that works out to be around $4k a month mortgage, and don't forget the typical HOA fees around $500/month.
I'd be embarrassed!! If you can't afford it move out!
I can't believe that he's the same chef who was winning the Chopped competitions. I'm so disappointed in his squatter behavior. He should be ashamed.
Did not pay rent for four years? Why did it take so long to evict him? Absurd.
NYC Housing Laws
So he can stir soup & gravy… I’m impressed!
I seen a news article about him a few times about this, it’s about time they got him evicted.
This is criminal, the laws need to fixed
Very sad how people take advantage of others people, hopefully the landlord gets paid.
He has a better chance of getting ice water of hell FOH
You keep thinking that. That Chef will be put in jail, if he don't pay. The .Judge shouldn't have let it go that long. But, they set him up. @@undertakerfanz628
Hahahahahahahahahaha.Yeah....right.
It's on his shoulders. He made it worse by ignoring rent demands. No one forced him to stay, he could have moved somewhere cheaper or in with family/friend.
Take away Food businesses soared during the pandemic, so he couldnt set something up? I recall one children's softplay business bought a pizza oven and sold food instead, they never reopened the play centre as they did so well. What was he doing???
Had the same situation next door to me. The tenant lived on the house for five years without paying rent that was 2k a month. Also he didn't take care of the property and the owners are now in the process of gutting the house, which is costing them thousands. Ridiculous people can get away with this kind of behavior.
That landlord is racist..making that man pay rent
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Hey!! Arrest that landlord for a hate crime!! He's making this poor guy pay rent!! 🤣🤦🏾♂️
I swear, the entitlement of some people sometimes...
How dare he not let him live there for free. Can't he see that he's black??
He thought he would continue to be protected. He is a typical dirtbag who wanted something for nothing. Pay up, buddy.
Almost $3000 for this tiny apartment in Brooklyn!!!! That is pure robbery!
He shouldn't agree to take it. His fault. Im sure others would want it
I think she just saying rent in nyc is ridiculous on a whole
$3k for that apartment is on par with other apartments in the area. He had a choice to not take it.
so he should be able to live for free He agreed to PAY
Nobody puts a gun to his head and signed the lease. He wants to live big and will pay to live big. Moreover, he was making money he just refused to pay his rent and probably his other bills too. He's just a dead beat and don't blame the landlord.
Shameless!
it would be nice if the rent would go back to normal like maybe $1,200 for that small place. Also it would be nice if houses would be sold to regular families and not owned by out of state investors that could care less about the neighborhood leaving tall dead trees in the yard, no one picking up litter, dog poop left behind by the airbnb renters. They make horrible neighbors
Normal is 500-600 for something that small.
Four years how about that privilege?
Sue, don't give up until you get your money for back rent.
Blood from stone
It's a crying shame we allow these folks to go free..
$2700 for an apartment the size of a closet. stainless steel stove and refrigerator, and tile backsplash does not make it a luxury apartment….
it was pretty big unit with a fireplace and dishwasher - i currently pay $2,200 for what is technically a studio - but that's the price on the beach in socal - if i can't pay the rent it's my responsibility to find a unit that i can afford - i don't get to cheat the landlord after i move in ..
@PatricioGarcia1973. Tell me how I know that you have never lived in NYC without actually telling me. You may not like big city rents, but they are all that and more.
You'd pay double that in Manhattan.
@@libiure, a lot of people don’t realize how expensive it is to live in certain parts of the country. Some places like southern Miami can go for $3k-4k/month in a small, one bdrm apartment.
One thing for certain, a tether is always gonna tether 🤷🏿♀️
Try that in the south 😂 the landlord will personalyl evict you with a human hole puncher while the neighbors and cops watch 😜

Nope the crime is not paying what u agreed to pay.
I thought he was renting the whole house
Was it during the pandemic?
Why even waste time and money to sue him for what he owes? Be happy he is out and move on. I doubt he has the money to pay up what he owes.
A celebrity nobody cares about
Since he hasn't paid rent in 4 years, i wouldn't be surprised if he has already saved up enough cash to buy a house somewhere.
4 years without paying rent??!! 🙄🤦🏾♂️ If this were any average Joe/Jane he/she would be put in jail Judge Judy Sheindlin quick. You know better than that, chef. Take care of home!! (And the rent you AGREED TO PAY!!)
Nothing is free. Nothing
People get evicted all the time. Why was this news?
We all watched, so we can tell you he was a chef and he was on a reality TV show and he has money but refused to pay his rent for 4 1/2 years because he’s a scammer, you should try watching instead of going right to the comments, and then you would agree with all of us
You ain't never lied 👍

Because he was a successful chef on TV.
It does not work here like that. They throw you out. The pandemic is over and business has resumed. You don't get no more than 30 days unless extenuating circumstances, and im even that means nothing here.
It doesn’t take 30 days where I’m from. They were able to evict people DURING the pandemic. I truly cannot imagine how it was possible for this man to stay in this apartment for 4 years without paying rent.
It DEFINITELY works like that (depending on the state ofc). It sounds like you aren't a landlord, particularly not one in NY.
$2700 for that hole 🕳 in the wall apartment is a robbery
TRUE and that's what he did. ROBBERY!
Well, four years is 48 months of paying zero, so... yah.
I hope the landlord gets his money back from this thief chef.
Black privilege
Ridiculous comment
He is not a genuine man at least he could’ve came to the landlords and told them his situation. I’m quite sure they would have worked with him. He just took a advantage of the system and now he’s evicted good riddance to that man.
He thinks hes owed a living by this older man???
Thats a newyork thing pay few months rent then stop paying for years hard to get rid of them because of the joke law. Danm over 130 grand owed smh😢
Mayors and Governors change the laws
The usual suspects
Du
Dun
Dunnnnnnnnnn
White people do it to it's not a matter of race
“It’s been rented,” said every potential landlord in his future 😂
That's ridiculous rent though. yea the tenant is arrogant and entitled. But the landlord is no better plus greedy.
Stop blaming the landlord. This guy signed the lease with his eyes wide open, and he has to live with it.
If you dont like the cost dont live there. Its not like you move in and they say "Surprise the rent is $$$$$$"
Yes but no1 forced that man to live there. He originally signed a lease knowing full well the amount of rent!
It does not work like this in Michigan. You be out in the street in a month.
Wrong - many case in MI drag out for years. Many of them on YT, sorry about reality making you look stupid, but you did all the work.
Is it common in NY to take this long to evict? Around here it’s 4 months.
Who does he work for now? That is so unfair to the owners. Hope the internet does its thing. Maybe contact food network and get them to ask him. Isn’t that how things work these days? All he had to do was answer for it.🤦🏻♀️
Sir you should have made an effort to pay your rent or work somthing out with the landlord .
Why did you put the Chief on blast like that? 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃
He's a chef not a chief DuhMe
@@undertakerfanz628 That's what I call him, Goofy A.F. 🤪
They reported dis before they followed him at court
I just read an article where the landlord said they will just eat the loss. It will cost too much time and money to pursue him for the back rent. So which is it? Is his suing the chef or not? 🤔
I heard he spits on the food before its served...sounds like when Jessie Jackson waiting tables back in the 60's spitting on peoples food because of their Persuasion.
$2,750 a month for THAT?? Independent of being owed rent, that amount is shameful! Smdh
Then he shouldn’t have signed the lease. Simple.
When litigation is cheaper than rent...
What a bum! Only took 4 years! He only owes $110k.
Oh boy.
It’s simple really; he was saving up for a down payment with the nearly $150k in missed payments. This happens often enough, but usually it’s not a celebrity. NYC is a rough place to be either a tenant or a landlord.
The city really is against the owner and protect these law breaking criminals
Customers should know when a business has not paid rent for more than a few months.
Let the customers refuse to pay for the product or service until the rent is paid.
Make him pay every dime he owes. This was just plain theft!
Where’s the money ..do you want a nice omelette 😂
Take his “celebrity chef” title away. Let him be the cook for the local jail until he pays his debt
$2700 for that small ass apartment, I say dude was being robbed.
Poor landlord, losing thousands and thousands of dollars, I really hope they get back something . Shame of this chef .
Four years? Courts suck
2k for that is a STEAL!
Why didn't he just change the locks when he was out and get rid of his stuff-put in a new renter? You time it right u can do it all in an hour.
Cuz NY has those insane laws! The owner wud have gotten in trouble.
It's criminal both ways because $2750 a month for that tiny apartment, just because it's in a gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood, doesn't make it right. He most certainly was "impacted" by covid-19, just like countless others, but you still pay your rent and if you are unable to, you need to speak with your landlord ASAP. You don't just live there, rent-free.
This is not a news. This is gossip.
Something wrong with not paying rent for 4 years. In the long it's legal system problem.
To all the people who thought housing court would never catch up to that backlog, you better start packing bro
He just love when u bring ur whole crew just a bigger piece a cake for him to blow thru ~Chef
In New Jersey it is much faster, according to the laws I can send the Notice to cease the next day that you are late paying, and then the Notice to Quit in the same month, if I did not receive the payment. The same month I can go to the Landlord and tenants court and they will remove him in less than 45 days, that is, I would only lose a month, since usually the tenand has a month and a half of security.
😂 no rent for 4 years especially in high class New York I'm a New Yorker and I know the rent is no joke he knew that is so ridiculous
I think this is terrible because during Covid there were so many programs that would assist individuals with paying their rent. The tenant could have applied OR the landlord. The Government had great programs. I’m glad he’s out now. This wasn’t right.
He's not unique. Many people who never had their paycheck cut during the pandemic, did this and many "professional" tenants do this, primarily in states with pro tenant laws.
$2700 is a lot of money when you are broke. Even a regular job he wouldn’t be able to pay that. He would have to make over $150,000 year and regular chefs don’t get paid that much.
Then look for another career. People do that everyday if necessary. He wasn't born a chef lol
Why they keep referring him as the “celebrity chef”, how is he a celebrity chef it makes no sense🤨? Former winning chef competitor, okay that would sense…but consider him as a “celebrity”…uuuh, no!
Why’d it take 4 years?? What a scrub he is!
That apartment was not worth that price in rent.
Agreed but he obviously thought so!
2700 a month crazy
2750 is the real crime tho
