I love the soft look of the PS3 games. They had low resolution but great anti aliasing, which made them look extremely smooth. Modern games tend to prioritize 4k over everything, which makes them look very cheap if they don't use high resolution textures. I wished that devs prioritized ray tracing and good AA, and kept the resolution at 1080P.
If I ran an business with a waiting room that had a TV instead of playing the news or whatever I would just run these 3 hour Game Sack videos all day long
You can use “batteries” to play the Astro mini. I have a rechargeable power brick and I have used it for this as well as the neo geo mini. Works just great!
Going through my own personal PS3 crunch right now. Still amazed at how great some games look. Castlevania: Lord of Shadows is on deck right now and, to me, it looks amazing. There was/is something special about the PS3 and what developers were able to crank out with the hardware. Playing a release title versus one released a few years later shows some dramatic improvements.
What bout Quantum break that looks better then anything on your PS3 7000% it still looks better than most games in the recent and latest released Games today and yet quantum breaks from 2010
Just want to say thanks for putting in so much effort in your videos. I really appreciate the work you do to keep these games alive in our minds. It means a lot!
I remember the rumble feature being dropped was in actuality due to a patent infringement lawsuit against Sony from the design of the dual shock 2 controller. They weren’t able to redesign in time for ps3 launch and pulled the feature entirely. I never heard the “interference” story. This is just what I remember from news reports around that time.
I really appreciate your honest approach on these games. Sometimes there are games i like that you don't like or vice versa, and it actually feels good to hear someone who is thinking critically about games, and at the same time, not just faking that they love every fricken game. Its fun
Awesome video! It brought back lots of great memories and showed me some titles I want to purchase for my collection! I still have a multiple Sony 3D TV’s and have to say, playing WipEout in 3D was the BEST! Only way better is to play on using the PS4 VR! I still have my move controllers and ‘navigation controller’ which I did not even know it was called that! I played Motor Storm on my PlayStation TV two player with the 3D glasses where each person had their own full screen! Quite an interesting concept however there was ghosting from each others screen that was visible. The historical fight of the giant crap made me laugh :D Playing Killzone 3 with with a 3D TV along with the move controller using the official PS3 move gun of which I do not remember what it was call other than the commercial that referred to it as ‘Daddies little helper’ was fun however difficult. I will most likely set it up again to play through when I ever have enough free time!
1 PS3 game I would absolutely suggest to anybody is The Puppeteer. It's not groundbreaking at all gameplay-wise, but it's art-style and presentation are some of the best I've ever seen. It's on the more expensive side for sure, costing between $70-$100, but I would definitely pick up a copy if you have the chance soon because it's price is continuing to go up. It's definitely one of those overlooked classics that people appreciate more now than when it was released.
Just noticed the My Life in Gaming shade thrown, love the lil fart sound lol! I have seen the name but never watched a vid, it never seemed right for me. But Game Sack? My happy place.
Had both the 3DO and 32x. Guess how long the 32x lasted? One night and we brought it back. Anyway thanks again for the entertainment. Always fun to watch. Anyway take care all.
Joe as you love video games music almost as much as I do, you should check out Iceferno’s Castlevania medleys on a Harpsichord tone. It’s pretty stellar.
I have to heartily second the praise for 3D dot Heroes. It's the best non-Nintendo Zelda style game of that generation. It also has tons of little jokes and nods to other franchises. Great game.
Hi Joe, love the channel! In The first Pixel Ripped game, you dont have to shoot the teacher, try shooting several items in The classroom. Shooting diferent items, gives diferent and funny distractions to the teacher, and It gives you way more time to play the side scrolling part.
I visited all the relatives and ate turkey. Now it’s time to watch some gamesack and play some sonic frontiers on my series X. Might pop in High on life later.
A chestburster emerged from our turkey on that Thanksgiving. Mom wasn't to happy about it. Neither was the rest of the neighborhood and city in the ensuing days.
I think the only reason I prefer that TenGen unlicensed version was the fact that the number of survivors was limited and I could save everyone where the arcade version I felt guilty for not having enough time to save everyone 🥺
Dark Edge tickles a very specific part of my brain. I've always had this lingering hypothetical question of 'what if we had never learned how to render polygons, and we had continued to simulate 3D with sprites/scaling/scanline effects, etc. What would a 2024 game with 35 years of improvements to Sega's Superscaler hardware look like.
Just FYI, you/he seem to have completely missed that you are able to lock-on to enemies in Demon's souls, same with pretty much every other "soulsbourne" after that as well, and it's definitely not a small detail. I dunno if he ever realized that after playing more but I suspect that he didn't based on how he never mentioned it in the commentary or added a correction through text when editing the part where he talks about how he struggled with landing hits on the enemies. Although if he managed to enjoy the game without knowing this crucial aspect of the gameplay he might love the games after learning how to lock-on, as it effectively removes one of his few complaints that weren't supposed to be a part of the challenge.
Love me some sega tapes. I got one of those chinesium 965400 in one things that has pretty much all i want for 40usd, and it didn't even blow off the back of my tv.
1:30 I wonder if any other products that use the same plastic casing actually can run batteries? I would think so, considering the mold still has the outline for the battery door that would have been there.
@@GameSack I meant more like lore and level design and combat fluidity cranked to 11. Fascinating world-building. Also level design with the Interconnected map in DS1 like a Metroidvania. Difficulty might be the same if not easier than Demon’s Souls. Plenty ways to get OP and break the game if needed. The Souls and Bloodborne games are pretty much the spiritual successors to Castlevania. Have you played Sekiro, Bloodborne, or Elden Ring? All phenomenal. I caught the FromSoftware bug and now everything just feels lackluster. I do need to try that 3D Dot Heroes of theirs that you showed. Didn’t know if it’s existence. Looks very interesting.
Hey Joe did you try using a 8bitdo wireless receiver in the sega city mini to get other controllers to work. Could be a possible outcome for them to be used
Well I guess I owe yah a comment since I've been enjoying this combination video a lot. So comment! Anyways keep up the great work I love to chill to your episodes.
Do you have a Quest 2? That headset makes me feel like the Dreamcast days. Iron Man VR, Walking Dead, Red Matter 2, and so many quirky titles make it feel like something from Sega during the 90s, if you play the right game. Also, emulating is awesome, you can play old-school games on projector style screen
Actually, PSVR 1 games DO play better on the PS5 as well as the PS4 Pro compared to the base PS4. There are also two versions of hardware. The second one supports HDMI 2.0 and HDR passthrough. It also has one less cable so is easier to use. There are two cameras, a rectangular one and the newer cylindrical one. I have them both and see no difference.
This channel has improved my sleep habits. ❤
No joke this is the best thing to watch when falling asleep
Joe really good at the sound levels.
Yessir! 👏🏻
It's completely ruined mine! I stay up until 3 watching it!
Nbs lol
I got my perfect living room setup for the holidays: christmas lights, tree and this video running on repeat.

This Crunch will fill the hollidays between Xmas and New Year perfectly, thanks Joe👍😊
This crunch episode was one of your best, in my opinion. Fun seeing Kratos and Sack Boy in action. Keep up the good work, Joe!

Another bit of trivia for Rad Mobile, the game was featured in the movie "Encino Man".

You have to press R3 to lock onto enemies in Demon`s Souls.
No matter what I put on to go to sleep it always either ends up on a game sack console crunch or Maximilian dood playing resident evil 4

Probably answered in the original video, but the Killzone 3 loading issues are likely due to the game looking for a server and not finding it.
