Exactly what I wanted to know. First thing that came up when asking what a Jeweler's loop does and how to use it. And the exact same style loop. Thank you. almost a decade later.
Thank you! I was just about to return my expensive Nikon Loupe because it didn't do what I thought, now I realize I didn't know how to use it. I'm keeping it.
The problem I'm having is the focus point is so close to the subject I'm trying to look at (coins in my use case). I hold the loupe approximately 1 inch from my eye, but in order for anything to come into focus I need to hold the coin pretty much right up against the loupe, and that blocks the light. If I flip the loupe over I can focus further out, but only the very center of my field of view is in focus, the rest distorted.
It looks like a Gowllands Loupe to me. My father has a similar loupe. Only difference I can see is his has a black plastic lense holder whereas in the gentleman in this video has a loupe with a silver finish on lense holder.
I have been trying to use my loupe with one eye shut I get an instant headache from strain. Looking with both open I either cannot see the object at all or I get the feeling I'm crosseyed and get a headache. Any advice?
The way it works is to hold the loupe in one hand, place the stone in your second hand, keep them together about one inch apart. Turn it around until you can see the jewel.
I noticed your loupe doesn't have a black frame so is it really that important? That one aspect has got me frustrated as I've been looking for a good quality loupe and many expensive ones are gray or silver, but some cheaper ones use black so I'm confused at what to do. I was thinking of getting a "Tech-Line Schweizer 10x" but don't know if it has reflection issues or not.
If you like to take pictures of the plants and buds, but don't have a super high quality photography camera, here's an awesome hack I came up with while I was stoned: If your phone has at least a decent quality camera (13MP and upwards), you can rig a loupe to your phone with a couple chopsticks, tape/hot glue, and a spare phone case. Just tape/glue the loupe between 3-4 evenly spaced chopsticks, put the spare case on your phone(a sturdy case made of thick plastic), get a nice bud and then cut the chopsticks down until the loupe perfectly focuses on the bud, then tape/glue the chopsticks down in that exact position. Perfect shots everytime!

For finding blemishes on produce you should use a canta-loupe.

I’m a little disappointed in myself that I found that funny. 😅😢

Well, you do look like you don't know how to use a loupe...
I'm trying to read inside the ring. It's not that easy to read even w the loup.

xbeanx3000 You’re totally over analysing it. A 10x Belomo is more than good enough.
@@NaNa-wj8tw Since they're prone to being over analytical maybe they don't even need a loupe
It’s best to move the object, not the lens at the eye, to focus.
Highly useful. Thank you.
Thankyou sir.
Excellent advice. Thanks. 👍
