Haha, nice to see the that this pit and spreading the liquid manure like this is still allowed. In the Netherlands the pit needs to be created from concrete, steel or plastic floors and walls and a fence of course. Also spreading liquid manure as shown in this vid is strictly forbidden.
Environmental reasons. Apperantly more NH3 and SO4 enters the atmosphere when spreading it a meter above ground level. So the liquid manure must be 'injected' into the ground.
Oh slurry.. Stinky gross slurry.. Im so glad im off that feed lot i grew up on.. I was about 10 the first time i did this same job on my granpas feed lot. And i dont miss that nasty stinkin job!!!
Hey,we all eat, what they shit out, nothing beats to go the natural way,manure-is way better than the chem's, well it smells so what-everything do smell.Go the natural way. TH
Cool video. Do you keep the tanker steering engaged on the road? I always thought it would be stressful to cycle on/off with the Houles but I've never talked to anyone who runs one. All the steerable tankers around here are Jamesway.
that depends on the kind of steering. If the machine has steering that is hydraulicly linked to the tractor you can keep it engaged on the road. however if the steering of the trailer is on a friction base with the surface you will have to lock it in a straight position on the road. otherwise you run the risk of the trailer starting do dance. This is where it jumps from one side of the road to the other, either until the trailer tips over, it hits something or the driver gets it under control.
It should not effect the water. Most states have a license to apply manure. That being said you have to shut down 12 hours before and after a rain by law . I hold my license
tribulation138 it depends, if your spreading it on grass then after each cut you spread a layer, whereas if your spreading arable fields you often spread slurry just before cultivating or drilling
Classic American too call slurry spreading liquid cow manure spreading if you can't be more creative than that just copy the British way of saying things

why is the spreading method forbidden

do you have biogas plant too?
If not Why not have one?
No, we do not there isn't really an application for one here. However, my school is heated with a biomass system it might be similar.
How many hours is your tractor
About 3000 I beleive
when you need real power .put the 4020 on it
What is 4020?
The tractor that was on the manure pump. The old 404 diesel sure was getting a workout.
A 4020 wouldn’t even move that Sarah. A 4020 only 91 hp. That tractor has 235 hp at the pto. Probably the weight behind the tractor is 100,000 lbs
how is it legal to have an open pit of manure like that? XD
Mattias Haugland in Pennsylvania there is no law prohibiting it but there is an electric fence the whole way around to keep the cows out
ah, ok. creds for quick reply! :)
No problem
here its law to have atleast 150 cm fence around our slurrypits! a electric fence does jack shit if a scared heffer or cow runs towards it .
Same here In Maine there isnt one most of the farmers here will still put something up around theres tho just in case
