That was the very 1st thing I thought! It is very obvious that a real offgridder put a lot of thought into the 400. Biy, I bet I would rip the butt off that awesome little Max right away!
Excellent comparison, Paul + you're pointing out the pluses & minuses of both models. I do wish you shown/demo'd the fold away lavatory in the T@B 400 + I wish you'd shown the accessibility of the GUTS of the T@B 400. Hopefully, NüCamp will be able to engineer things to accommodate a larger 2-way (120V or 12V) Frig/Freezer in the T@B 400 Paul, I do wish you'd actually stand inside bathrooms & go through the motions of taking a shower. This will give everyone a much better idea of the bathroom size instead of merely talking about its dimensions.
2019 t@b 400 got a larger fridge relocated to where the hanging closet was in the older model, and includes drawer space under. Three drawers newly occupy the old fridge space. And a microwave is now included above the sink. And I believe Nücamp has replaced the slow draining folding bathroom sink with an improved version.
I like the tab 400 so far except for the small frig but I can always get a big cooler with ice. And I need to get a truck. My subaru outback will not be able to pull either one.
Did you not like the Little Guy? I'm torn between the two...leaning towards the Little Guy because of the fridge and extra storage...I plan to live in mine full time. I'd love to know how you feel that these two compare. Thanks
I like the TAB overall. If it had a lifting roof like the Safari Condo Alto, that would be killer. (I’m 4’11”. I don’t care about ceiling height. I just like the extra windows and the more comfort with the bed) The ability to put the tv outside is killer on the MAX. Along with the antenna. The bigger bed is nice. But I wouldn’t want the TAB too much longer. Maybe a foot for a full size queen and a bigger fridge. The heating and cooling systems in the TAB are important. That fan and that heating system. The solar system is great on the TAB I wonder if an extra bunk bed can fit over the dinette at night... I have twin littles.
Love the video great job. Thanks for your Air Force service you must of been an announcer or in tower operations. I have seen the Max firsthand, really like it very clean and neat, lots of storage.
The TAB is clearly well-designed & thought out. The Little Guy looks like they tried to as cheaply copy features from other RV's. A glass door on your bathroom? Who's the genius that decided that was a good idea? How many people have a glass door on their bathroom at home? That would be none. The Tab has a much better thought out bathroom, including a sink ( why you wouldn't want a sink in a bathroom I don't know) , with an actual door even! I know the TAB trailers are more expensive - nearly Airstream levels, but they make much better use of the space they have, and the build quality of the parts is far better. My wife & I are hunting for our retirement/couple trailer. The TAB would be perfect. Have to sell the house first though.
I love my job! We carry many different RV manufacturer's and people like or dislike certain things about different ones. That's a good thing. One thing you can be sure of though, things will not be the same and will always change. As far as cost, Both the T@B & Little Guy Max are in the same price range. Take a look at the video that I did from the Factory of the Little Guy Max and see if that changes your mind any.
I should have mentioned, I did like the video, and the few others of yours I've seen. They're always informative without being too pushy-sales kind of thing. But the no sink & glass door bathroom thing, is an absolute deal breaker no matter what.
They have changed the shower door for the bathroom to a frosted glass door with a shower curtain inside. I am in the process of getting someone else one with a sink in the bathroom. Thanks for watching!
Still would like to see some views of the undersides, tanks location and clearance, low point drains, that kind of thing, some trailers have some serious low points. Thanks.
Seems to me that if you want to do more of the boondocking style of camping, then the T@B 400 will serve you best. If you only camp where you have shore power available, the MAX would be most comfortable. Great review, Very thorough. Thanks,Paul!
Both the T@B & Max are over 9' tall. So to fit in the garage most people would have a 10' door opening, which would fit either of them. The T@B 320 is over 7' 5" tall and would need an 8' door.
What sold us on the t@b 400: A larger bath with sink and window. No glass bath door. Quieter A/C Instant hot water (no hot water storage tank to keep hot). Super quiet heat system. Lighter overall weight. Lower overall clearance height. Much better ground clearance at the back. Twice the solar available. Plus larger capacity tanks. My wife and I were also impressed with the fit and finish of the t@b 400, no matter what brand we would compare it to. The longer Max excels with it's larger passthrough storage and larger fridge. Otherwise, we can't think of anything else that matters.
Difference is the T@B 400 has a laminated insulated floor and the Little Guy Max uses Perform Max 500 for the flooring. I am sure that the T@B 400 has a higher R Value.
Not at this time. They tell me they are working on something. Check out the Little Guy Plus Video.... Just put on last night, it might be what you are looking for....
great video and sorry for the basic question, but are both, either or neither of these trailers towable by a 2013 jeep 4door rubicon wrangler. I am really looking to upgrade from my popup tent trailer. My girlfriend wants a real toilet and air
Hi Paul, Little Guy says they have a black flush connection. It is nice to compare them though and it gives perspective to people to see options as well.
This was a benefit well done. I think the T@B is better in quality and cooler looking but to live in and less travel the MAX wins for me. The windows seem wider in Max than T@B and offer more privacy. Talk about towing vehicles. I'll buy the max rough rider if I can tow it. That's my million dollar question now on my jeep Wrangler. Do I have Dana 44 or higher gear ratio??/
Both of these are too heavy for a 4 door Jeep Wrangler. It is the tongue weight that will push almost 500 lbs. I understand that 4 door Jeep Wranglers have a tow rating of 3,500 lbs. But then you need to subtract people & cargo in the jeep and understand that the hitch receiver is rated for only 350 lbs. of tongue weight. Just my professional opinion.
It would be nice if one could combine the best features of each of these trailers! I don't like the fridge in the TAB, but the bathroom is better(for example!) The MAX seems to be better quality on the inside and has more storage space(just my opinion). I would have to go with the MAX(with the Rough Rider package).
Nice tour of both trailers. But was like comparing a big apple and a small pear. Poor technical knowledge of the different components ( black out shade, recovery of hot water, escape window’s, mechanics of heating and A/C.
Thanks for watching. Getting that technical would make videos too long. I have specific videos covering water heaters, Awnings and other components of different RV's
Other than being the largest versions of the 2 lines, these campers are not really equivalent so you can't really do an apples to apples comparison. Just to start with, the max is 3 foot longer and about a foot taller. No surprise that it has more storage and useable space. Personally, having looked at both, I was very impressed with the features and build quality of the 400.
Tab 400 has the best bathroom in the class that about or less than 20ft!!! If max has 400 bathroom then it will be the best in its class in terms of size price dry weight. Although airstream 16 to 20 ft long trailers are good , but they are too pricey, and no 400 bathroom.
Well Paul, drink another beer......you only missed the heat pump on the 400, you failed to say anything about little things like: sidewall construction, roof construction, frame material: alum. or steel? Then what type of floor, floor construction, warranty.......go have another beer Paul!
Richard, thank you for watching. You are correct, this video was more along the lines of the difference, although I missed a few items, they are well documented in my individual videos for each. Check out the Factory tour videos for both of these campers. In those I go over the construction. I'll take you up on the beer one day when we can have one together.

Airstream is a very nice trailer. One must look at the construction of an RV. The materials used in this trailer are higher quality vs many others on the market, they are a small company so materials cost more as well. Many factors to consider before labeling something too expensive. Those that use these trailers would disagree and sing their praises. Happy Camping!

Nice! Thank you Paul!! Thinkin' you're one of the first to do an "official" comparison.

They put it in a bad place. I'm a senior and I would not like to bend down that much to use a microwave. Ok for 20 year olds but I'm 65
They need to find a way to improve the refrigerator on the Tab 400.
2019 does...

The T@B holding tanks are covered and that's not the case with the LG Max. I think the T@B is better quality but not as practical.
