Three years !! I’ve been watching your videos ever since you first hatched out Belle & Blue. It’s been a year of ups and downs. Your progress is inspiring.
I started watching I think back in 2019? I love seeing all the birds being raised on their property and homesteading. I want to get into homesteading myself but am stuck in a town that won't allow it unless you own 5 acres of land. Watching videos like this helps me get ideas of what birds that I'd like to raise and to also keep in mind of where I live that these birds could survive in. Ayam Cemani's, Silkies, and Barred Rocks are my dream chickens. I'd probably keep quail on the side. I don't know yet.
@@whitehouseonthehill I think you should just let the eggs chill and not like crack them but you should see if the eggs dont hatch after atleast 18 months
Maybe it would be worth asking the man who runs the channel A Chick Called Albert. He saves birds and saves weak chicks at hatching and he might have some tips on how yo help fragile chicks.
They really do need to be 3 years old. We had eggs from my grandfathers mature Peacocks and I put them under our best broody hen and we hatched out 4 young ones, when they got to 1 and 2 years we got eggs but no babies. Year 3 they had babies but crushed them. Year 4 and on they were successful. They really do take a long time to mature and get it right but they are so amazing and beautiful and so smart we love them so much. Keep trying and don't give up! One day it will happen. Love you guys and all your content
The boys already know what to do to check on the eggs. So darn cute! Also it's funny, there is a place in Florida where some peacocks run wild. The neighborhood has been up in arms about it. But they breed very well. Too well in fact. Anyway, if those peacocks can do it, yours can too!
I had a horrible year trying to hatch peafowl too. I spent so much money on eggs but about 1\3rd of them fully developed but just didn't hatch out. This coming spring, I'm going to try putting them under broody hens too. One breeder said she has cochins sit on her peafowl eggs for about a week and then puts the eggs in the incubator and had a lot of luck that way. I have one pair that is just now maturing so I'm going to try some of these things with their eggs but I'm not buying anymore eggs until I figure out how to hatch them.
This really reminds me of a speech several years ago by paul harvey, 'so god made a farmer' (many of us know if from the Ram superbowl ad I think in 2014) and in the speech is this bit: "God said, "I need somebody willing to sit up all night with a newborn colt. And watch it die. Then dry his eyes and say, 'Maybe next year.' " This video proves to me that the courage to continue is what counts, (Churchill). I hope you have a more successful year in 2022.
The peacock really need some space.... The male is supposed to display his train properly in order to attract and mount on the female... The eggs Belle laid were infertile that's why no development occurred despite them being brooded on for that long
I love that you make these videos to help us viewers learn about wildlife, and even though I have 1 bunny, I cant stop myself from watching these videos. All I can say is keep up the good work because I have watched many of your videos and you have come so far ever since you saved the wild bee hive. If animal loving was a person, it would be you. Thank you so much for making these videos, and as long as you can post, I can watch.
Peafowl require lots and lots of space! We didn't have success until we turned them loose on our farm. The females are extremely picky and like to be wooed with lots of show over several days before they will let a male close. Out of 5 females we had two that reproduced successfully. Good luck!
Well darn, I was really hoping you guys would do well with pea chicks this year, I’m glad you guys aren’t giving up on it, I know you guys will succeed!!
Thank you for all of your video's, I love watching them. When all the news is bad and I am feeling down, your video's make me feel better. Bless your family and your animals.
I enjoy seeing your beautiful boys grow up. Now we have a little girl to see grow up...... three brothers to look after her along with mom and dad have a Blessed Day y'all.
The Emu's at the end put the biggest smile on my face. Thank you for the video guys. I have a feeling next season you will have too many peafoul. Hang in there.
I’ve been following you guys since hatching blue and belle, I can’t believe it’s been 3 YEARS?! Best of luck next year. Hopefully once the pair are in the aviary and are able to get fit you will get fertile eggs from them🤞
Our 2 year old white peafowl had at least a couple of fertile eggs of the 4 she laid. One was eaten by coyotes, and one actually hatched - but only lived 2 days. No obvious reason why - just failure to thrive. We will try again next year. I can tell you that if the male cannot fully show off his tail, she won't let him near her, so maybe once they are in a larger area (the Aviary) you will have better luck with fertilized eggs. Let's hope for a better 2022 breeding season!

Dang I had my turkey hatch out all of my peacock eggs this year and she did great. I hope next year you guys can get some white peacocks, if i can I might send some eggs to you because I have white peacocks.
I'm glad you found a solution for the fencing! I know that's been a holdback for a while, but it's going to be amazing when it's finally put up. It's hard to believe 5 rounds of eggs resulted in no surviving chicks, but hopefully next year's hatching project will be more fruitful. Best wishes and lots of love from somewhere else in Missouri!
Hopefully when you get them into a larger enclosure it will help stimulate fertilization. A friend of mine has a neighbor that raises peafowl. Theirs are free range and quite prolific.

I have binged several of the videos and for the most part they are enjoyable, but I get aggravated in how you handle the eggs and allowing your children to do so as well.
Is there something that is ... special to hatching these eggs? I read an artical from a German peafowl breeder. He wrote when the temperature is too hot you get a lot of crooked legs and that the turning from the incubator about 45 degrees is not enough. Once a day turn it 180 degrees. I am sure you know that already but I am impressed about what I read about them, that they are much more intense in the incubator
I know so many farms that let their peacocks 🦚 free range and there is zero issue with them flying away. Not sure what you're doing so differently but it really sucks to keep such a large feather bird in such a tiny space 🙁
Like 20 years ago my dad hit one on the road while he was working. Since he worked for the USDA services they spent $50,000 investigating it because they didn't believe him.
I mean... there's a difference between farms close to roads and farms close to hunting grounds. They already had an issue earlier this year with people or something hunting their homing pigeons. Imagine if the peacocks went loose? We don't know the personal situations between other farms. We don't know if they permanently clip their peacocks wings to stop them from flying or escaping. Jake's birds are in a temporary setup until the giant aviary is finished. Which if I remember from a couple videos ago, he stated that when they had an inspection on the aviary, the people conducting the inspection stated the planned layout is going to be a lot bigger than they thought and would be more than enough for all the exotic birds on their farm. From what I know from all the years of watching this channel, they tried free ranging their peacocks and I believe Blue took off onto the neighbors property. This became a hazard in the chances that Blue could've been killed if he would've flown into power lines or out onto the road. Where they are now, hunters outside the property and predators pose a threat.

I own an exotic animal sanctuary in California and hatch peacocks. The only time I have ever had peachicks survive is when I fed them gamebird starter AND wore them in a baby sling for 4-8 hours a day. I know that sounds strange but every baby I have ever wore in a sling and kept mother like contact with has survived. Babies I have incubated and moved into a brooder with other exotic birds always died when the other birds inside thrived. Every year I am the crazy woman wearing a baby sling wiry peachicks inside until they are so big they won’t stay voluntarily any more. It’s time consuming and strange but, I have the friendliest birds who visit seniors and medically fragile children and let people love all over them.
I don't know much about fowl, but is there a chance that Blue and Bell are from the same parents? Because close consanguinity would explain a bad fertility rate... perhaps you need to break the pair and put them with unrelated birds for breeding (if you have a way to buy chicks that are already born?) ? I don't know if it's actually possible once a couple is made, with peacocks... I'm probably not saying anything right, but that's probably what I would try and do with the parrakeats I used to have... (sorry for the spelling, English is not my first language ^^ )
Since it could be getting cold u need to make sure they keep them warm and I would recommend an box or something big for them to sit on the eggs and it would be warm I did that with my cocktail
sorry about the pea-fowl eggs, but are we going to get a video on how you did this year and what you have planned for the next one soon? love how the farm and your family continues to grow :-) and can't wait for the reveal on the Aviary!
Are peacocks really difficult to breed, hatch and survive normally? You've done EVERYTHING POSSIBLE and it seems like nothing is working. What is the deal? Oh plus, I've NEVER seen a white peacock ever. They are not albino either, they are white. Never ever have seen them even at a zoo. Also, why did your male peacock lose his tail feathers? Is it a seasonal shedding? You have the most beautiful farm and you take great care of your animals. I saw your compost pile with the sad non hatched eggs. Very impressive with all the work and ingenuity with splayed leg syndrome of your baby turkeys. Love your beautiful black chickens, all of them and your fancy silkies, white ones. Just incredible. I'm learning so much. Some eggs need turning, some do not, most delicate eggs do best with a real "mommy" warming the eggs rather than in incubator it seems. Thank you.
I'm very sorry that your having trouble breeding peafowls my school is having trouble keeping our D'uccle bantam chickens alive Sadly our singe d'uccle hen Bubbles died along with 2 of her chicks Sandy and Julien Jr however Bubbles left behind 5 eggs that we stuck in the incubator and hope will hatch along with some barred Holland eggs and good luck next year!
Peacocks need a big cage for them to mate better, they need a high and long cage because when they mate the male spreads his tail and chases the female to mate and it takes a lot of space.
How did y’all raise up your peacocks? I have 3 peachicks and with winter quickly approaching I need to get them out of my house. They are about 9 weeks old and fully feathered. But they gotta get outside.
I'm so sad to watch this , but please try once a broody turkey , I've tried with it and peacock is rare because many doesn't survive , but in my case 3 hatched and all made it to adult 2 males and one female , i still have them and I name them "Blu" after watching your videos -male and "Snowflake" female. In peacocks please try to get eggs from male 4-5 years old and female can be 3-4 , the older the couple the healthy and fertile eggs will be. I know you might know this already , but I'm just trying to help. *You inspired me to start farm - From Pakistan*

I love your vids I have been watching for 2yrs
Peacocks need a big cage for them to mate better, they need a high and long cage because when they mate the male spreads his tail and chases the female to mate and it takes a lot of space.
My favorite bird peacock
India's national bird...🦚

I'm so sorry about that, it must be pretty disappointing

Been a long time subscriber! Love the Vids!
I love peacocks there so like they show there personally.
Keep trying. You’ll get it! Like the aviary
