Great podcast, my 2 pence - as self employed, I would also say that the "freedom" you feel you get from running your own business can be a double edged sword if you run a service based business and don't have employees. If you need to go on holiday, an emergency or even need to switch off it can be extremely difficult vs "9-5" - if you can get a job where you can literally do your work in short hours and then leave it "at the office" and focus on other things. Both systems can work - key thing is making time work for you

You are right about the mindset. Many people are fooled by the percieved stability of 9-5, and dont realize if you trade a little bit of your money or time now on an entrepreneurial opportunity, then God willingly you will recieve much more in return later.

    salamu alaykum bothers, some recommendations:
    Reading:
    - Books on starting up a business
    - Books on developing the mindset
    - Books on learning business rules or how business works
also any courses out there that can help people that never thought about starting their own business.
    baarak-Allahu feekum.

Before books on mindset, I truly strongly suggest establishing your Islamic 'aqeedah. Many of these mindset books have shirk concepts such as "ask the universe and change your destiny", and that a person should be "fully dependent and confident in themselves."
It is crucial to have a background and firm establishment in Islamic aqeedah. Many of these same concepts contradict more superior concepts such as "Good thoughts of Allah", "Tawakkul", etc. which are pertinent to a Muslim's aqeedah, and are more effective as it is established truth, whereas the shirk concepts are theoretical falsehoods.
As a matter of fact, there is a video on this very channel titled "Are self-development books haram? Chai with my Bai" whereby they discuss this topic at length.
You may think you know *la ilaha illa Allah,* but know there's a reason scholars wrote books about it. Some things may pass by under our noses without our notice, so it is crucial to first learn your aqeedah.
Secondly, from a more worldly perspective, I think it's important we also don't fall into "mental masturbation" whereby we read tens of books without acting upon them. This concept refers to the act whereby individuals consume large sums of content, allowing them to *feel* as if they're progressing, simply because they're reading. It is pertinent that an individual acts on the knowledge they consume, and not solely read the book (I know this goes without saying, but a great majority of people fall into this without realizing it, as I have before).

One thing: from your titles / conversations about working a 9-5 is it’s important to mention that you can be successful and there is nothing wrong with working a 9-5 as long as you are okay with the terms and conditions (having a boss, job security, work schedule etc).
Not sure if you’ve addressed this before but for certain fields it’s pretty much impossible to get into unless you have a 9-5. The biggest example is to be a doctor (USA) you need to attend Uni for at least 8 -10 years until you can be a licensed MD. Imam Shafa’i has said that the most important of the worldly knowledge is medicine. Being an entrepreneur / self employed is great and has its own benefits, but I think this channel often times neglects the other perspective and might push people away or even make them seem less than.
Maybe it’s because everyone who comes in is an entrepreneur, so it good for the discourse to bring someone who has a different business approach. والله أعلم

some good points made in the video. but i don't personally agree with the comment about a difference between hearing music and listening to it. Think it was dangerous for the brother to imply this makes a job halal. It is true in terms of your intentions and whether they are trying to focus on the music or not, but the reality is you're listening to music regardless and what enters the ears can corrupt the heart

    • @awliyaalilmukhliseen6570
      @awliyaalilmukhliseen6570 14 днів тому +2

There is a difference as Shaykh Al Islam ibn Taymiyyah said. The evidence is in the Hadith of ibn Umar where it was narrated the prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم blocked his ears when he heard music but he didn't order ibn Umar to do the same so Ibn Taymiyyah explained its because the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was always closest to perfection and so it was befitting he didn't hear it at all but if it was the same ruling as listening intentfully then ibn umar would have been ordered to do the same but he wasn't so it shows the difference between listening and hearing its a well known distinction called فرق بين الاستماع والسماع
Of course it's still more virtuous to completely avoid hearing at all times as the hadith indicates.

    Assalam Alaikum akhi,
What’s the best way to resign? I’ve worked remote for the last couple of years and keep telling myself to quit, but always find excuses, waiting for a project to end, etc.
Now I’m noticing people around me to leave and now feel like if I leave, it’ll make things so bad for my team since they’re more dependent on me. Having trouble figuring out what’s the best way to get out InshaAllah..

Learn about AI and robotics, and figure out a way you can leverage the advances in technology for the medical industry while things are quickly changing and no one group or company is really on top yet. You dont need to be an expert computer engineer any more, anyone can learn it

whenever rich dad poor dad is mentioned, please give the disclaimer about what is haraam in the book and what people should avoid!! It's very important to break this down for the viewers if giving the book recommendation. Some hadith and ayat explaining why certain things need to be avoided islamically might be a good video to stop people falling into haraam if they read it
