I don’t know how I get to your channel but I love it. I love how you teach pises and clear. The bracelet is beautiful. Thank you.
Thank you so much, Martha. I really appreciate your kindness. Carol
Best teacher of this technique on UA-cam!
Thank you so much, Ruth. That's very kind.
Any time that I can add sparkle to my creations is a win for me. Shiney is good but sparkle, that's what jewelry is all about, right? Bringing light to your life. 🌻❤🌻
Thank you, Micheolene. I absolutely agree! It's all about the bling!
Beautiful bracelet! I have not worked with French wire at all, so found your video very informative! Love the finished look. Great job Carol!
Thank you so much Kimberly. I love the way it looks too.
Enjoying all your videos as I’m in down time with a knee injury.
Oh, Elaine, a perfect time to catch up on videos! I hope that you get better soon. Thank you.
I've never used french wire but it makes a very professional looking finish. Thank you for the tutorial!
Thank you so much, Sharon. I don’t really use silk thread, usually I use tiger tail, so this was a departure for me but I do think that it makes the piece look wonderful and I might employ this technique when I use tiger tail as well.
What a beautiful bracelet! Great choice of beads with the pearls! I’ve never used French wire. I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks Carol! ❤
Thank you so much, Kathy. I'm glad you found something useful in this video. I love the addition of French wire. I've used that technique many times. Here are a couple of other videos where I've used it:

I have those earrings you're wearing in red, love them. Started watching your vids tonight, i love them. Thank you for explaining things so clearly, they are not too long or too short, right amount of time. ❤❤
Thank you so much, Alexis. Did you make your red earrings? Just in case here's the tutorial for the earrings. ua-cam.com/video/uFwBQxREsz8/v-deo.htmlsi=9MqDSB6t0g2L5J3v
It's always hard to gauge how long to make a video and often it's based on the length of the project but I do try and edit out some of the repetitive stuff so that you don't get bored. :)
I like the crystal with the Pearl I also love your mermaid earrings
Thank you so much Marianne. I actually wore the mermaid earrings yesterday too. They are so simple to make, you should give them a go.
I love the neutrality of the bracelet. Im gonna make your mermaid earrings! I have those same round shell beads in my collection and couldn’t think of what to make with them. That is until I saw you wearing them in this video. 🙂
And FYI, I just recently started watching your videos and I really enjoy them. Thank you. ☺️
Thank you so much, Julie. I felt the same way about the shell discs until I connected the dots. Glad you will now be able to use them.
The faceted beads with the pearls are gorgeous, Carol! 😘 I love your videos and didn't even know there was such a thing as French wire. Thank you! 🥰
Thank you, Jan. I do love those pearls too. I have actually been using French wire all the time and I love it. Much more than a wire guardian.
Pretty little bracket. Pearls are my favorite, and my birth stone.
Thank you so much, DeeAnne.
Clever use of the silk stringing thread. And, using the French wire is brilliant. I have not ever done that, but will make this bracelet. Love the crystals with the pearls.
Thank you so much Joanna. I’m so pleased that you liked the bracelet. Have fun making it and send me a picture when you’re done. :)
Thanks for a great tutorial and the lovely bracelet design! I admire how you use “traditional supplies” in new and different ways to create contemporary designs. I also love your scarf…what a beautiful pattern and color blend! ❤
Thank you so much, Barbara. The scarf was knitted for me by my sister. I'm trying to get the pattern for it and when I do I will share it in the community tab.
I like these together. Thank you in showing me something new. I had no idea of something called French wire and that I could buy a threaded needle
Thank you LIane. I know - makes life so much easier not have to worry about threading the needle.
Stunning! Quick to make but so classy. Love it
Thank you so much, Karon.
Job well done, Carol. I like the pearls and rondelles
Thank you so much, Cheryl.
Wow that pearl and faceted bead combination looks so good, I am sure with same combination a single line or double line necklace would also look amazing.
Thank you so much. I agree, this would make a great necklace!
This piece looks classic, but can be worn nicely with a casual look, as well.
Happy to have found your channel, and looking forward to going back and learning from you!
Thank you so much, Marjorie. I agree that this piece could be worn with almost anything. Did you watch my trends for 2023 video? Pearls are big this year.
The beads look very good together
Thank you so much, Brooke. I love them too.
I love the irregularly shaped pearls as well. More character. Just an FYI, I was restringing an old seed pearl necklace and noticed how after I was done, the stringing was not as tight. Well, I saw on another video that the person rinses the thread and stretches it out and then lets it dry. This really helped and did a better job. Hope that helps some people. Thanks for your video. 😄
Thank you so much, Flora for that hint. Now that I think about it, I’ve seen people do this too.
Watching this reminded me that some time ago I bought a lot of the silk string in many different colors - but I don't remember what I thought I'd use it for (and obviously I never used it for anything because I'd forgotten I even have it!). What never occurred to me, was to use the silk thread for a bracelet. Happily, I have TONS of beads and pearls and your video has inspired me. I don't have French wire, but I do have wire guards and I'm looking forward to having some fun! Thank you.
Hi Deborah, I'm so pleased that I could inspire you and remind you that you had the silk thread. Have fun with your making! Thank you. Carol
The French wire is amazing.
Thank you so much Susan. I agree. I'm working on another tutorial now using it as well.
I really like the pearls with the rondells, it looks very nice. I also love the scarf you're wearing! Thank you very much for your videos.
Thank you so much, Debbie. I’m glad you like the pearls and glass beads. The scarf was knitted for me by my sister. I love it and wear it all the time. If you email me, I can try and get you the pattern if you would like. My email address is carol@affordablejewellerysupplies.co.nz.
❤very pretty bracelet. I always wear a pearl bracelet on my right hand.❤ Very nice tutorial ❤ THANK YOU!
Thank you so much, Melba. I'm glad you liked it.
So beautiful and very interesting about the French wire. I hadn't heard of it. I will check into the thread. Thank you so much. 😊
Thank you so much, Sandra. I'm glad you found this one useful.
Wow!!!! I have been making jewellery for the past 3 years and have had pearls for nearly as long. I haven't made them as every video I have watched has knotted in between each pearl and used French-wire. I have tried the knotting with the silk thread and have even got a fair way through, before some catastrophe struck (a bit like you and crimp covers perhaps😂). I have also been unable to source French-wire through my usual jewellery suppliers here in Queensland. After watching you make this lovely bracelet I am inspires to try again, I may even have a go at using memory wire. Thank You sooooo much
Thank you Bernie. I've had the same issues. I get so far and then the knot turns into a mess. I do have an Easy Knotter in my store which helps to make those knots but I've never tried it. We do ship to Australia if you are wanting to purchase from us.
I support exactly the way you used the pearls! Wonderful bracelet! I think it would go with my personality 😉
Thank you, Charisse.
I love watching your channel and all the items that you make. They are all explained wonderfully. I am in England So I don’t manage to watch your lives, but look forward to watching the replays. Beautiful work Carol xx
Thank you Linda. I actually don’t do lives. It’s TERRIFYING!!!! Ha ha. Welcome to the channel from little old New Zealand. Thank you for your kind words.
I love this bracelet! And I am new to jewelry-making and have never heard of French wire. That’s brilliant! I will definitely invest in some of that. I will add that crimp bead covers are always such a challenge for me, too. ❤
Thank you so much, Sue. It's nice to know that others struggle with the silly little crimp covers too! I haven't used French wire much but I do love the look of it.
Excellent video on finish with the French wire. I love baroque pearls; classic too blase* stunning shade. (pretty scarf too)!! thank you!!
Thank you so much! If you are interested in making the scarf you can find the pattern here: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/3s-shawl
I love watching your videos. I’m inspired to make some of my own jewelry. I’ll be referencing your tutorials for sure. 😃
Thank you so much.
I like pearls both with knots and spacers.
Thank you. This video actually started out to be a knotted pearl bracelet but it ended up with spacers.
This was lovely. Thank you. Also, love your earrings!
Thank you so much. I always leaves links to the jewellery I’m wearing in the description box. Here’s a link to the earrings. ua-cam.com/video/uFwBQxREsz8/v-deo.htmlsi=uQqwf58y0p1mrV3J
I started watching your videos yesterday. I viewed your video regarding the perfect loop and correcting mistakes. I watched a couple of older ones and decided to subscribe.
I love listening to you and the way you show exactly what you're doing step by step.
I like the beads and pearls you choose.
I make zipper pulls and use the crip beads. Never used crip cover or French wire. I love how clean and professional they look.
Thank you and blessings.🤗🦋
Thank you Lynda. Welcome. Beaded zipper pulls - sounds wonderful!
You need a pair of crimping pliers. It will hold the cover really well without slipping & they crimp the crimp bead into a roll rather than a flat piece. I dont do it without these.
Love pearls & french wire.
I always add 3 jumprings to the toggle end as it makes it so much more flexible when fastening. If course you need to allow for it in your measurements. Silk tgread is very stro g but i would say " less likely to break"
Thank you Linda for your advice. I have used my crimping pliers to add a crimp cover in the past - not sure why I didn't do it here. I still have issues getting them on. I think they are just too small for my fingers. That's OK, we got there in the end. Interesting about the 3 jumprings. Thanks for sharing that.
Great idea for using silk thread. Haven't bought French wire yet..
Thank you so much, Linda. It’s not a must but I love the finish it gives, and the protection.
I love the pearls with the little grey rondells. It's given me an idea for some similar golden pearls that I have. And thanks for the detail on french wire.
Janice
Thank you so much, Janice. I'm so pleased that this inspired you.
I love pearls, all of them🥰
Thank you so much, Leni.
I find it easier to close the crimp cover using my crimp pliers with the large round portion. It holds onto the cover nicely.
Thank you, Ariel. Yes, I usually do that. I'm not sure why I didn't in this case. I do find them to be slippery little suckers though, and they fly around all over the place. I usually use my Magical Crimping Tool, so I don't need a crimp cover.
Thank you so much for your easy to follow tutorials. I will be placing an order soon to begin my bracelet building journey!
Thank you so much. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed it.
@@The_Stylish_Maker thank you. Received my order today from you. Looking forward to making my first bracelet.
@@qhsunny1 That's great. Thank you. Have fun!
just found your tutorials, thank you for all the info you share.
You are very welcome. Thank you.
I love your tutorials . You are so specific and I like that. You have made some beautiful pieces. Thank you for all that you do. I will definitely try this.x
Thank you so much Lynn. I really appreciate your kind words.
Love being tutored by you.
Aw, thank you so much Sandra. I really appreciate you saying that.
Oh. My. Goodness!! I just bought some beads and they came with little wire spring thingies separating each one. I thought - What is that? Where have I seen it before? I wonder if I could use it for anything? But I couldn't remember what it was, or where I'd seen it, and I couldn't figure out anything to use it for, SO I THREW ALL THE PIECES AWAY! (About 2 dozen, all the same size, like you're using!). Now I'm re-watching your video and I see it was French wire! Getting old is no fun ...
Oh my gosh! No! I've never seen a strand of beads come with French wire between before. I've seen them with bugle beads or plastic tubes but not French wire. Interesting. You won't make that mistake again.
I've just found your channel and I would like to congratulate you on a very well presented tutorial.
When I first started making jewelry many years ago, there was nothing like this, and it was trial and error. Also buying lots of how to books lol.
Eventually I stopped making jewelry except for eyeglass leashes, but I think that I will be starting again now.
Thank you once again for your inspiration ❤
Thank you so much Jacqueline. Things have certainly changed and we are so lucky to have such a wealth of knowledge available at the click of a button here on You Tube and other platforms.
I love the combination. Beautiful.
Thank you so much, Cheri.
Thank you! 😊
Gorgeous bracelet. Grey doesn’t suit me but I can imagine using cream or black pearls with similar crystals between. Thanks for your outstanding tutorials. ❤
Thank you so much. Yes, it would look amazing in cream or black pearls, or even navy blue.
I really love this bracelet, and the French wire at the end to protect the silk string. I also enjoy the different sized pearls. The beads in between give the bracelet an extra punch. It looks really nice. Just curious, why is it when pearls are strung the silk string is used? Is silk used for any other beading? How do you know what size silk to use? Some videos that I watch you have to stretch the silk and others not?
Thank you, Lori. Lots of questions. I believe silk thread is used for pearls so that it doesn't damage them. I have not used silk for other projects but I'm sure others do. I would choose the thickest silk thread that will fit through the holes - it will be stronger. Silk by nature is very strong anyway. Yes, you can stretch the silk before. I've not done this and have had no problems but it can't hurt to do it. This video started off being a knotting between pearls technique video but it morphed into a tutorial about French wire. Would you like me to do a knotting video too?
Thank you for showing us french wire and silk thread. I love french wire, I think it's so much nicer and professionel looking than wire guardians... And I also love silk thread, but I never used them together (only french wire with tigertail)
Electroplated beads often have such gorgeous colors, are they holding them for a long time?
Yes, I love the look. It's interesting as most people say that they have never used French wire with tiger tail, only with silk thread. I'm not sure what you mean about the electroplated bead.
@@The_Stylish_MakerDear Carol, I wonderd if electroplated beads keep their color, so sorry that I did'nt find the right words to discribe that.
Marion
No problem. In my experience they do. I have only had one piece that lost it's colour but it was more because it got very scratched rather than losing the electroplating. I hope that helps.
The pearls are gorgeous and I’m going to check what other colours you have!
Thank you Jacqui.
Lovely
Thank you so much.
Lovely pearls. I thought that since you are using silk thread with attached needle pearl knotting would be more appropriate for a professional work.
Thank oui Rosabelle. Did you mean knotting between the pearls? That was my intention but it just didn't happen that way. Or, did you mean knotting it and not using the crimp bead?
very smart! thank you!
Thank you.
Love your work!!❤
Thank you Bianka.
Excellent channel❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you, Jane. I'm glad you like my videos.
That's pretty.❤
Thank you.
Love it
Thank you, Liz.
Hello Carol! I love your videos. I have already learned so much from you and i appreciate you so much! This bracelet is GORGEOUS! My question is if i am making something myself and not following a tutorial how would i know to use french silk, tiger tail, or something like Wildfire? The french silk looks pretty but you end up not seeing it. Just wondering? Thank you again, you are amazing!
Hi Robin, thanks for your question. Do you mean, how would you know to use French wire? The silk thread I'm using is generally used with pearls. Fireline is generally used for bead weaving. Tiger tail is the strongest. You can still use the French wire with tiger tail if you like the look.
Very nice. I enjoy watching your videos. ❤
Thank you so much, Janet. I'm so pleased that you enjoy them.
Hello I like to ask if you could do a video on why string or when compared to bead stringing wire? Right now as I watch you working on this bracelet could using stringing wire be better to ensure jewelry last longer or is there a reason why not to do that?
That's a great question, Michele. You generally only use silk thread with pearls. Silk is surprisingly durable. You would normally knot the thread between the pearls which is what I intended to do in this video but it didn't work out that way. The reason is so that if your piece breaks you don't lose all your pearls because each one is knottted separately.
Fabulous video ❤. One thing I e always wondered about is, is the crimp bead alone enough to stop the thread from slipping out? The thread gets cut pretty close to the crimp and I’m always worried this can easily slip back through the flattened crimp. 😊
Thank you so much, Ranjana. I used to feel the same way but I've not had one fail. It's all about getting that crimp bead squashed down so hard that it can't budge. If you feel unsure, you can always add a tiny dab of glue.
Love the earrings.. I just joined your channel I have enjoyed all of your tutorials..
Welcome, Pamela. The earrings are the Mermaid Earrings I made a while ago. They are super simple - 1 technique. You can find the tutorial here: Master this ONE SKILL To Make Beautiful Shell Earrings

Carol, i am fron San Francisco i like the bracelet you wear at the video, would like to request if u can teach me how to do it.
Hello from New Zealand. Thank you so much. Here's a link to the bracelet tutorial. ua-cam.com/video/7dKvPtueiV4/v-deo.htmlsi=MKokdNI-wO22XBcq
I love your video and have learnt so much from it. Thanks.
You're welcome. Thank you Jenny.
How do i know size of french wire i need for my beading wire. I love this tutorial. Thank you
That's a good question, Ruth. You need to find out the inner diameter of the French wire and the diameter of the wire you are using.
I ❤ it
Thank you.
Very lovely! But I must say…in the very many tutorials I’ve watched, I’ve never seen anyone else use a crimp with silk thread. They always use bead stringing wire. I’m curious to see if the crimp doesn’t end up cutting the thread.
Thank you, Lori. I thought about that and I did watch a tutorial where someone (Beadsmith) had used a crimp bead. I don’t think that it will wear out the thread simply because of the direction of the pressure of the thread. The thread is going through and the stress is not pulling the thread at right angles to the crimp bead. I will wear it lots and see if I can wear it out, then I’ll report back.
@@The_Stylish_Maker Thank you! That makes sense! I hope it holds up forever!😂 I think I will try the crimp with the silk thread also! 📿 I think I might like it better than using a clamshell clasp. 🤷🏻♀️
You can always use a crimp bead inside a clamshell for extra strength too.
Súper
Thank you so much.
I was looking at how organized your room looks. May I ask do you store your beads in those jar plastic containers. Please help always looking for a neater way.
Yes, I do store my beads in the jars, but remember I own an online store so I have over 3,500 products. Here is a link to my studio makeover video which you might find useful. I'm planning on doing an update sometime too. ua-cam.com/video/ltg4BzA1UQc/v-deo.htmlsi=5RU4tZmEJJMy8A0M
Carol-do you worry about the Griffin silk fraying since you cut it at the crimp tube? BTW-I LOVE YOUR TUTORIALS.😊
Great question Angela. The reason I used the French wire was to stop any fraying. I wouldn't use a crimp tube and silk without it. I've never had it fray around the crimp tube. You could always tie it off instead of using a crimp tube and use a crimp cover to hide the knot it you're having that problem.
I have a pearl necklace that has broken. I salvaged all the beads and b ok the ends of original clasp. I would like to restring in a manner that if the strand broke again, beads wouldn't fly everywhere. How do I do that?
Hi Pamela, sorry for the late response. You would make a knot between each bead. This tutorial actually started out being one where I demonstrated doing that but it didn't end up that way. I may still do that one, so please keep watching.
👍
Love your tutorial. Where did you purchase your scarf?
Hi, thank you so much. Every time I wear this scarf I get asked this! It's so beautiful. The scarf was made by my sister. If you are interested, here's a link to the pattern. www.lovecrafts.com/en-au/p/dobroszka-knitting-pattern-by-yellow-mleczyk
Hi! I’m finding that my thread is fraying or snapping on some of my pieces after people wear them. I’m thinking it’s the abrasion against the sharp edge of the crimp cover. Is there a way to finish a silk thread necklace without a crimp cover or using something that will rub?
Great question. It may actually be the crimp tube that's cutting the thread. There are a couple of things you could try. First you could try coating your thread with beeswax. I used to do that when I was hand quilting and it stopped any fraying. Second, you might try using the Magical Crimp Forming Tool which negates the need for a crimp cover. Here's a video about that: ua-cam.com/video/UKnf5AFGNlQ/v-deo.htmlsi=oWTdzuFWrMj8Dw7R
I’m new to jewelry making. I just read something this week that said do *not* use crimp beads on beading thread bc it may break. Help!
Hi Adrianne, great question. Lots of people don't use crimp beads on silk thread but I've never had a problem with it, especially when I use the French wire. I know that doesn't really help if you're getting conflicting advice but I've seen others use them too - like Beadsmith and Fire Mountain Gems who are the big boys in jewellery making.
I’ve never heard of French wire. Is it at traditional craft markets ie michaels or hobby lobby? That bracelet is beautiful!
Hi Debbie, I'm sure you can buy it at your usual jewellery supply store. If not, you could try Fire Mountain Gems if you're in the US. www.firemountaingems.com/search?searchtype=Shop&keywords=french+wire
@@The_Stylish_Maker thank you 🙏
I'm curious if crimps and crimp covers could cut the silk thread over the time. Also, the crimp tubes folding is optional? I have a hard time using crimps and would be happy at least to skip the folding part ))
That's a great question and one I get asked all the time. I did answer it in my 30 most asked questions video (linked below). I would be worried that crimps would cut the silk thread over time. I would simply knot it and pop a crimp cover over the top. That should work as long as there aren't any sharp bits on the crimp cover. With regard to the crimping itself, yes, you can just squeeze it flat. I always get into trouble when I say that but I did it for years before I knew that you needed to fold them over - before the invention of crimping pliers probably. They hold just as well, in my opinion.
ua-cam.com/video/6WpfbLNIOGA/v-deo.htmlsi=uScbRqMs7CskoTUx
Hi Carol, I have never used the French beading wire however, I have used the guardian wire to protect the stringing material. Do you think it works the same? Enjoying your videos. Thank you.
Hi Nadine, yes and no. I find that the wire guardians sometimes can have little burrs on them so I wouldn't use them with silk thread. I've also done a video on using wire guardians which you can find here: ua-cam.com/video/o_R9_fJmgcY/v-deo.html
I really like the look of the French wire which is why I would use it over a wire guardian but they both do the same job if you're using a stronger stringing material.
I always wondered what French wire was? Is it sturdier than a wire guardian? Or is it more for looks?
Thank you, Lorena. I think possibly a wire guardian could be a bit more sturdy although when using silk thread, I would be worried that it would cut the thread. I would definitely use a wire guardian if I was using something other than thread. I do love the look of French wire though.
Are there more variations for covering wire, a side from wire guards and french wire?
You could also use a bead bandit - www.amazon.com/BeadSmith-Bead-Bandit-Crimps-Silver/dp/B007MQNCZA. This video might help. It's about covering your crimp tubes but you might pick up some information in it - ua-cam.com/video/6MNkAZM7xmU/v-deo.html. Thank you.
@@The_Stylish_Maker I had discovered you last night via this video! I’m looking to see if any other additions exist that will specifically cover the wire. Thanks!
There are no other supplies that specifically cover the wire that I'm aware of.
Your kiwi!?❤
Yes I am.
