I started this thinking I'd be able to do 30 minutes over several days. I couldn't stop listening. This convicted me, and it's so powerful it made me tear up a time or five. Bless you, brother. Thank you for obeying the call on your heart to start this channel.
Wow -- This is my favorite podcast so far. I love Matthew's quote "What we have to do is guard against thinking the way we do it is the only way to do it." Also love how he had so much to say about the importance of submission in the first half. I'm glad I watched to the end because the last hour was jam packed with weighty insights about the body of Christ.
Praise God you were rescued from addiction! So many are not. My husband died almost 6 years ago from alcohol addiction. His father is a pastor, and we all prayed and prayed, and he went to rehab 3 times, but he was never able to get free. He left me alone with a baby and his family has all but abandoned us. But, in the loneliness and grief, I came to Torah Observance and my kiddo and I are now coming back to a real life and true covenant relationship. It's still a very, very lonely and difficult walk in the flesh, but we are not alone in God.
Thank you Luke and Matthew for taking the time to have this conversation. After leaving the Sunday Church scene after decades of lay service, the matter of total submission to a congregation leader is the most difficult to do, especially after being abused by church leaders and worse, my family. I do appreciate the approach that Matthew and his four leaders are taking. It does sound like they are humble and can be corrected within their group. We love Johnson City and that area of Tennessee. I suppose we will need to make a trip to experience the the Vineyard. Blessings to all.
WOW, this video was incredibly timely for me personally!! Thank you to Luke & Matthew for such an amazing interview. It was long, but worth the time spent. SO MANY Torah keeping Christians were once Assemblies of God members. It's an astounding thing to see a great amount of Pentecostals coming to know the complete Truth of The Way. The Holy Spirit does lead us to ALL Truth in YHWH's perfect timing. Praise Yah for this incredible interview. Shalom!
YAH is good! Great testimony and I remember experiencing some of this early on. Then, it stopped when I got into secular music where I was doing that on the weekend in bars. I'm ashamed at that part of my life, but, I am a self taught drummer, who learns by ear...but, I chose the wrong music in the wrong arena....the world. Freewill offerings, love it and there are congregations that do that, but, it is a few. Elohim loves a cheerful giver and we were taught to pray about how much to give. Some might give 10%, some 20% and some 5%, but, it is between them and the Lord.
great interview as always Luke!!! i’ve watched “the vinyard” Great hearing the back story and Pastor Matthew great to hear your testimony!! blessings to Yahs leaders. we are in a time for unity and may we show love with our words to be seasoned with salt as we share the kingdom. Abba Father help us to walk in our purpose and never be a stumbling block, but only a beacon of light to Yeshua the true light of the world! Shalom
Praise Yah!! 🙌👏 so excited to see this. (My husband) Robbie sent it. Pastor Matthew has some amazing insights and just profound depth and understanding of Yah’s word. I’m thankful to have such an intelligent and zealous leader for our church and he is one amongst many! They have really built such a strong foundation. Love this for you brother 🎉
Well, sounds like we’ve come full circle. I don’t know what to say or think. I’m 75. Saved at 21 in 1971. 2010ish, I left the building-faith in tact. Mostly why I left was bc I was told for almost 40 years, “You need a covering. You need a covering.” Well-in all those years, I never had a “man” (except for possibly one) who I even began to feel like was a pastor to me. I came to the Lord on my own in my apartment, & it was as if I just sort of bumbled and stumbled along with other members of the Body of Messiah. I lived in Pittsburgh for 3 years. Went to AOG up there. Took a few classes from Berean U. Been in the same Torah Study home group for 9 years in the state I now live in. I’ve given up on the hope of being under a 5 fold ministry. I’ve never found it in over 50 years of faith. So, I don’t know what to think. Yah’s best to you.
Agreed. So many of us have been hurt and abused by church leaders that it is very hard to submit myself and my family to another one. That is one question that could be discussed here. Not that we are rebellious to be under submission, but how leaders in the "church" are abusive. I like the model that Matt and his four other leaders are taking. Hopefully they are likewise humble and open to the lay people of their congregations. It would appear like they have a good relationship.
Great interview! Living out the Torah is what matters! We do not to separate ourselves from the other members of the body, we just need to live out the Torah and let the Holy Spirit do the rest of the job in the other Christians who have not experienced the beauty and the blessings of the Torah. This the reason why I do not like when we LABEL ourselves as Messianic Christians. We do not need an other adjective to identify ourselves, we are CHRISTIANS....
Greetings from NE.TN. I may have heard of a Vineyard Assembly, but in Central TN. We have not heard of Matthew Miller. I'm looking forward to hearing his testimony...
Scriptures say that where two or tree brothers or sisters are talking about the truth (Torah) the Ruach Ha'qodesh (Holly spirit) will be with them. That's how a congregation starts. Anything else from there is just our own take on it. We, people, love to make the word more complicated that what it is.
Interesting podcast. I had mixed emotions watching this episode. I also was placed in a position where I craved a title or position wirh work. I wanted to elevate my status. Yah knocked me down and reminded me He is the one who gives me my identity not the world. But my struggle in listening was around his submission to that Rabbi. A lot to think about after watching this....
Excellent captivating talk! The whole family watched, my 16 year old son and 14 year old daughter both really enjoyed this… sometimes it is hard to sit down for so long, Luke…. Wonder if a barstool and taller table might be better? Where you can sit and/ or stand at either time? Great podcast and interview 🙏
I had the same hesitancy as Luke when he wondered whether enduring the mistreatment of this 'Messianic Rabbi' was worth it. Matthew felt called to submit to this man's authority, and that is commendable. It isn't every man's call. When Matthew related how he was told not to call on the Father's Name, that was it for me. Pure manipulation. That was done to us at a MJ congregation in NY. We left quietly and were later reprimanded in absentia. How dare we leave and not let the 'Rabbi' know about it. It seems to me the Father has various ways in which to humble us. To me, that behavior was spiritual abuse 🥹
Wonderful interview! Thank you. This made me hope that you are also going to interview Scott Hillman. I'd be interested in hearing the journey of A. G. pastor to Sabbath keeper.
It is so sad to me that people who stand on the office of pastor are willing to lie to their congregations about the true Sabbath and other things. When my husband of sweet memory asked the pastor of the Sunday church we were attending about the sabbath, his response was that he knew the truth but couldn’t make the mortgage payment if he taught the truth.
Most of them know the truth. When we learned of Torah, I started talking to a pastor and he went to great lengths to avoid me. I knew then I was absolutely doing the right thing.
Sorry, but as I listen to this, I keep having more comments. So much is true in what you are saying. If you are a pastor or teacher, just be one where you are. Also, about the “rabbis.” Rabbinical Judaism is just as man made churchianity. And often Jews who are in rabbinical Judaism bring that man-made stuff right along with them. A lot of this sounds like man’s control over another.
To say someone leaves a congregation because they're "offended" & "immature" is a generalized statement. Be careful of congregations that demand complete obedience to men.
That's true. To be fair to Matthew, though, he didn't say that everyone who leaves a congregation does so because they're offended and immature. He left two congregations himself and for good reasons. Many people really do leave congregations because they're offended over trivial matters or too proud to submit to a leadership they don't agree with 100%.
There is nothing wrong with choosing the path of Caleb and Ruth, making a covenant with Yehovah, and becoming Jewish. In fact in my experience the messianic Jews are happy to have you there.
It has always seemed apparent that most of the people who come to this walk tend to be independent thinkers which explains to me why they continue to struggle with having a "pope" if you will. Personally I'm still not sure we need a national "denomination" to round us up and tell us what's what. We started in a house church which we enjoyed but eventually realized we missed having the structure of an organized congregation. I do see the value in that, but I think anything on a larger scale would need to allow for a great variety, otherwise we could go back to developing doctrines of men and hierarchy power struggles.
1hr 21 minutes in. Tithing is difficult. In Torah it was first fruits not money. We are to give gifts to others cheerfully. My husband and I in our circumstance live with help by gifts monthly to pay our land payment and electric.... we have to remember that pure religion is taking care of orphans and widows in thier need and remaining unspotted from the world.... Part of it is that we have been turned off by what churchianity has done with the tithe. Build buildings to build up churchianity and grow it. Continue to teach partial truths. It's the only Old Testament thing that churchianity wants to cling to, yet they neglect the other things. So it's been twisted and we are Def turned off. Giving however is such a blessing. Giving seems free of all the baggage...
Leviticus 23 says these are the Feasts Days of the LORD. That means they are for everyone, not just the Jews. It does not say the Feasts Day of the Jews!!
2:08:50 i think it could be argued christians do not keep the weighter matters of justice mercy and faithfulness since they believe the law is a curse. any christians I know are lost and confused but will not repent. they may love God but if they reject the message they are in rebellion and sin.
As others have stated, be very careful before jumping on the bandwagon with this specific fellowship. There are MANY concerns behind the scenes that leadership has not and will not address publicly.
Yes, we just noticed that too. I think perhaps it used to be free but it's paid now :( If we find a good free one online, we'll post it! And thanks so much for watching.
I have a theory that those who are "grafted in" are actually "re-grafted in". That those who chose to accept Ye'shua and His salvation, are actually descended from the lost tribes. What else could Ye'shua have meant by this statement in Matthew 15:24, "But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”?
Yes, I see the merits of that idea but also realized it's never been necessary to be part of the tribes by blood. And we see that "joining" into Israel throughout the Bible, with people such as Ruth and Rahab and many others, who were not "lost tribes" and joined in. It goes back to the remnant joining them from Egypt. And either way, Paul tells us blood doesn't matter. When you're "saved" you become the seed of Abraham and step into the one law and the one people...wild branches grafted in, or natural branches... re-grafted.
@TheLife_Podcast Thanks for all you guys do to bring such valuable insights and interviews to the community. What a wonderful way to grow in our knowledge and faith!

I’ve met this Pastor at his fellowship earlier this year. Great episode!
Love me some Vineyard of Praise and the pastors therein. Been watching and sharing them for about four years now.
Wow! Great interview! Has really helped me with things I have been struggling with! Thanks so much!❤
Wow! This was amazing!
I needed to repent of some things while listening to this.

Thank you so much! We'll keep on chugging.
Love you too Jason
Thank you The Life Podcast… very grateful for this much needed sound teaching… our community is in desperate need of it… time well spent hearing this…

Yes I had the same reaction. But the more I listened. it seemed like the Yoda-like training he needed to overcome the desire for status.
Matthew, we lived in Burgh 1989-1992. My son is 47. Please pray for him. He’s lost as a goose.
I will pray for him NOW

I can relate. The world works from the Gregorian calendar. We haven't found a congregation that teaches a biblical calendar or Sabbath.
Most of them know the truth. When we learned of Torah, I started talking to a pastor and he went to great lengths to avoid me. I knew then I was absolutely doing the right thing.
@@OkTxSheepLady Have you found a congregation that uses His sun and moon to find His days? Congregations near us use Sat on the Gregorian for Sabbath.

No the issue with tithing is the lack of temple because the tithes go there. But those who are truly fed by the lord will be moved to give offers.
Jews aren't chosen. Anyone who has Christ is chosen.
