I use bromine and have an ozonator. After I add the bromine, the levels read fine. Then if I check 8-12 hours later it reads almost no bromine. Is that Normal? I thought the levels should stay up for a few days if nobody is using the tub. Ph and alkalinity are also in range. Thanks.
If you haven’t built up your bromine risidual yet this would be no renal if you are yawing concentrate and not tablets you would need to add bromine a minimum of every 3 days. If you are on tablets it will take a few tablespoons of bromine concentrate to get it activated

I wouldn’t recommend converting a swimspa to salt as they weren’t manufactured to handle the salt and you would have to keep your levels so high that it would cause damage to the components. Speak with your dealer and follow their recommendations. There are safer market salt systems I just wouldn’t Rec commend for a swimspa. On your chlorine. I would start with 1/2 cup of chlorine concrete wait
Sorry hit send to soon... wait 10 minutes test if not a solid 10 ppm repeat the process until you get there. Make sure cover is all the way off and jets are running for at least a half hour. You may have a lot of foam but that’s good you are burning off whatever is consuming your chlorine.... wait a day to get back in.
So I have a small 3 person hot tub on bromine , I have hard water and my ph is impossible to regulate now I have terrible calcium int in the tub this is only my second season having it, they gave me no really info on how to maintain my tub!!! PLEASE HELP

Then make sure you are adding 3 oz of stain and scale on a weekly basis. once you refill you have to get the alkalinity down. It could take as much as 3 tbs of ph decreaser every day for up to 18 days. Once that is done balance your pH
Ozones are great and they are an additional device you can add to use work with an EPA approved sanitizer. They will cut down on the amoount of sanitizer tht you use, however they are not a stand alone sanitizer so if you use ozne you will still need to use another sanitizer as well.
I have Sundance hot tub with the Frog @ease system. I have supplen Mentee it with dichlor granular chlorine after heavy use or when it doesn’t seem to be keeping up but I am having trouble with the cyanuric acid getting too high from using the granular chlorine. I have heard there are non stabilized (no cyanuric acid) dichlor granular chlorine for spas available but I have yet to find one that says it is non stabilized or doesn’t contain cyanuric acid. Do you know of one? Do you have problems with high cynuric acid levels? Any advice?
I am not aware of any non stabilized di-chlor You could try a spa shock but that’s not chlorine. On the spa frog system you typically have to drain every 3-4 months and I don’t have any isssues with the cya getting to high in that time frame

Yes you have to fix the alkalinity first. It is the most important. A couple teaspoons everyday for up to 14 days. Bump your pH up after you get it up. Yes get the bromine up to a 3-5 ppm
A bromine user also and my pH and TA also keep rising! Bromine is acidic. That should lower pH and TA but mine keeps climbing. I'm dumping Bromine and change to Hot Tub Lady Chlorine and mineral system. I have a pool so replacing with perfectly balanced water already is a no brainer. My pool pump can fill tub in 15 mins😁
When you say to shock the hot tub ..is that simply adding extra chlorine? If the water is foaming quite a bit, the chlorine will remedy that (after heavy use)? I have a saltwater spa and I use liquid chlorine.

Correct Bromine should be at a solid 3-5 ppm not a 0.3 to 0.5 3-5ppm You should ensure that your hot tub bromine level is always between 3-5ppm (parts per million. The addition of bromine will depend upon usage and bathing habits. It could be daily or every 2-3 days this is for residential use.
If using the Frog @ease smartchlor cartridges, should I be adding additional chlorine or non chlorine shock after each use, or at some time? Only had the hot tub almost 3 weeks but used the smartchlor cartridge in 2 weeks (set per instructions). It is new so we have been using it almost daily 😊
So I recommend replacing your smart Chlor cartridge every 3 weeks when you replace you should add 2 tbs of chlorine concentrate, or anytime you get cloudy. You should shock maybe once a month. Water is crystal clear, and I added the "Maintain" packet they suggest each time smartchlor cartridge is changed out. That is a non chlorine shock, should I not use that and add regular chlorine instead?
