I still have goosebumps right now as I'm writing this. What's different about this short film from other 4-8K videos out there is that Morten actually gets it as a filmmaker. From the get-go he shows that it's more than just high tech gear and pretty landscape. He skilfully mixes shot types, angles and speed, picks all the right shots for the different parts of the music (and/or vice versa by Jogeir), and does not shy away from the darker moodier moments as a visual/emotional contrast, before bringing everything to a crescendo with the northern light scene. Absolute masterpiece.
i was gonna quit the video after 40 seconds but then i saw your comment . And you made it seem like this was a masterpiece and you where right it was so i watch the whole thing Morten rustad is an artist
I think people in general tend to miss that "cinematic" above all else entails "narrative". Girlfriend stands in forest, man walks across street or coffee beans get ground in slow motion with a orange teal lut carries no narrative.
Beautiful but It is very cold and fruit trees are not growing there , we have a lot of fruit trees in Iran & Our Mountains are pretty amazing too but Air pollution in big cities is a big problem here
air pollution? I've been to Oslo and It was hard to see someone driving a car, I saw more in Bergen but I would say 20% of cars are electric there. Also those two cities are next to the sea. Try to go to almost any major european city in summer, it's terrible.
This is what makes me proud to be a Norwegian. Not just the wonderful nature, but also people like you Morten, who adore our country and use your life to show it to the world. Amazing shots, great soundtrack, well produced. Perfection.
I just read your backstory notes. Considering what it means to consume more than two years and 20 terabytes to deliver this was a humbling thing to consider. You are very kind to share with us.
You know? Watching this video, apart from the hundreds of videos that I have seen about Norway, I come to a simple conclusion: Norway is like a natural museum where in every corner, around every curve, there is a surprise waiting, and not just flush on the ground, but also in the sky, with the wonder of the phenomenon that is the midnight sun, apart from a semi-cloudy sky, where the contrast of lights leaves those who contemplate it speechless. I hope, shortly, and when all the Covid maelstrom has passed, I will get to know this great natural museum with my motorhome.
There is no word or phrase which exists in any language that can come close to describing the uniqueness, awesomeness of this video. There should be a Nobel prize awarded for cinematography like this.

This video is the benchmark for timed videos. It wasn't made today, but it's a reference point worth returning to regularly. There is an incredible amount of work, precise work, involved. All credit to the creator(s). This is a work of such quality as an extraordinary world record, it cannot be beaten for many, many years. Morten, thank you for the often 7-minute experience your movie gave me.
I've visited Norway when I was just 16 years old and it's been the most beautiful country I've ever visited until today. Watching this video brought tears to my eyes. You are such a talented photographer / videographer and you are exceptionally lucky to have your job and travel around like that. This video is just everything... (makes me too emotional). Thank you for your work!
This is the promise land to me from God. I am going to Norway and will live in there in my rest of life. Thank you for this amazing film, to know Norway better. God bless !
Before I comment on here I watched the film countless time. It's so amazing and soundtrack worked very well. This is some next level, quality work, I don't even have words to explain it. Year of work, dedication has finally paid off. Will wait to see his next adventure.
You sir, just won the internet. Impressive video quality, good grading, music, and an amazing storyline. Highlight upon highlight. The rainbow lapse was impressive with an amazing transition to the next scene. Also the fall lapse with speedy winds/clouds was amazing. I love this country.
WOW, if heaven is even more BEAUTIFUL than this then just tell me HOW. how magnificent earth is, if only you could see it this way with your own eyes with this much detail and quality, fast forward and see everything in endless motion like this, just WOW. words simply can not describe it.
Your creations is on another level man! I feel proud to be a Norwegian when i see these videos and how much amount of work and dedication you´ve put in these creations, you´re truly an inspiration Morten! - 15 year old boy with dreams.
Stunning video! :) My hubby and I arrived back home yesterday after spending almost a month in Norway and it's one of the best vacations we've every had. It's such an incredible adventure to visit there and it's beauty really does have to be seen to be believed. The memories of the time we spent there will stay with us forever and we can't wait to visit again. I was worried we may not see the Northern Lights and we actually saw the most stunning display on the very first night we arrived :) That was the most amazing way to start our trip. Skiing and exploring and seeing the wildlife there really was a dream come true. Norway is nature at it's very best and breathtaking in every possible way. Norwegians are right to be so proud of their country. Love always from NYC 🗽
Just a tip from someone who lives in Norway, you can sometimes see the Lights in summer down in the south if you just get out of the cities. There is quite a lot of light pollution along the coast and near the cities. I highly recommend summer camping in the south of Norway for this reason, particularly in the mountains. You can walk all day without seeing another person and then camp under the clearest skies you've ever seen. As long as the weather is nice, obviously. That's always an issue here.
This is so breathtaking! Someday I will also capture the northern lights in one of my timelapse videos. Great movie Morten, I had a great time watching it! With this video you are motivating me even more to do timelapse photography. Thanks for your inspiration!
Best Time-Lapse film I've ever seen. I knew that it would be amazing because of the clips we already saw but that it would be that amazing and beautiful I've never imagined. Keep on doing these brilliant videos :)
I watched thousands of times, I really love this film, especially the bgm which is specially composed for you. Love it. I’m currently working on a timelapse project in Ontario, Canada, hope I’ll be doing a good job as well!
Wow, this video is so amazing! All of your hard work and effort paid off! I loved it! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this and share it with all of us!
The part @5:41 is absolutely amazing. I had to watch really really close over and over again just to make sure it was for real, could hardly believe how stunning that shot is. Tip: watch it at the best quality you possibly can, it'll blow mind! Great job!
Hi Morten Rustad, I've got to say wow. Little flowers from beginning catch my breath, snow capped mountains, green lights, sky's full of stars, crystal ice hole, humble stones. They are really lovely. Thanks, Morten, for your beautiful work. I almost forgot the music is such a nice, too.👍🏻😊😀
I am overwhelmed by this movie. I still have goosebumps from this timelapse. It's a wonderful combination of images that touched me a lot. Thanks for this release.
Morten Rustad..take my kudos💐🙏 love you..amazing soul...u have the vision which most of the people don't have... true Artist u are!!❤️❤️ love from India 🇮🇳
Great video... love the work you've brought into it. Being Norwegian, my friends often ask me why I take so much of my vacations around here in Norway instead of traveling to more sunny and warmer places... but I am addicted to the nature in northern Norway in particular. By the way Morten Rustad, have you taken timelapses and photos of some of the pearl white beaches in the Lofoten area? A great place to travel at least.
Absolutely incredible! im blown away by all of it! the choice of scene, the editing, the music, the movement, the sequences, just everything. You sir, deserve a lot more recognition!
i still come back to this from time to time. Hands down the best time lapse movie on the internet! Hope to see you back soon on youtube and looking forward to further projects!

The thing about this video is just that it's not just a youtube video, it's an immaculant and superb piece of art and I think that it captures real depth. I also have to give one massive thumbs up og the composer and how he captures the feel of the movie so well and when using what I would call ''Hans Zimmer effect'' where he would use high notes that last over many frames and it just drags you in to this bubble where you just stop thinking and just enjoy the music and the movie. Incredibly done Morten and I hope you keep up the amazing work.
I mean, I don't comment videos very often. But this, my friend, you've made something special. I've read the description, such a dedication went to this project and I have to tell you, it was totally worth it. It's beautiful, you made me feel so priviliged to watch this footage. So thank you, you made my day.
Thank you so much for making this video. This is the most beautiful video I have ever seen. I've never seen beautiful places like those places. Do you live in Norway? If you do,you are very lucky.I wish me and my family live there.
So amazing! I went in Norway two years ago, but this video make me want to discover this land again! There are so beautiful and magical place there! Really well done!!
I watched this movie at least 10 times and get addicted to it. It's one of the reasons I started making timelapse. It's just so incredible that I have no words to define the hardwork you did and spend time for each clip. #HugeRespect

The most inspiring time-lapse videos I have ever seen. It captured a story from beginning to end, then back to the beginning. It is a story that can be told time and time again, afresh every time, from a different perspective and just as beautiful as the last.
This reminds me of the movie 'Samsara', and that can be seen as a major compliment! Thanks for taking the time and effort to create these wonderful 7 minutes, Morten! It's a stunning work of video art!
Hi Morten, Just watched this and to say it was brilliant is an understatement, obviously it involved a great deal of hard work and time, so I would like to say many thanks for the enormous effort put in to making it. I must try and get to Norway one day as you showed by your fantastic photography images what an incredible place it is, many thanks again Ian
Brilliant Morten! This country never ceases to amaze me with it's annual metamorphosis from winter wonderland to the exciting fury of spring, relaxing into the long lazy summer days before falling into autumn as everything readies itself for the big sleep before doing it all over again...

So incredible. Makes me so proud to be Norwegian... this country is so beautiful!!
Beautiful but It is very cold and fruit trees are not growing there , we have a lot of fruit trees in Iran & Our Mountains are pretty amazing too but Air pollution in big cities is a big problem here
What you see in the beginning is fruit trees. Apples, pears etc.

Looks also beautiful in 1080p
You can definitely tell the difference when something has been recorded in 8K, even if you can't view it at that resolution. You should really consider monetizing your videos :)
btw, did you render out in 16:9 or 21:9? I had to zoom in on my 21:9 monitor.
Tor Ivan Boine I think he said in the comments of the BTS video that it was in 2.35:1
Doesn't look like it. I get black bars when viewing on a 21:9 monitor.
Do you mean blackbars ontop of the original black bars?
What? 😊
I think that he added blackbars when editing to get the widescreen feel.

My computer could not handle 8K but i watched 4K
Lol and that is just to watch it. I wonder what mammoth of a machine he has that can process this...
yeah lol
I can watch it in 8k :)

To process 8K you need 33 million pixels per second. You’d need a $1000 graphics card and a $1000 processor to handle that.
no not really. My 7700HQ and it's HD 630 can watch it in 8k. (1050 is sitting idle) (with an ethernet cable tho). my 1060 can handle it also.
I just wanna visit Norway...it's so beautiful..my soul is renewed after watching this video ...so refreshing 😭😭
