Bootcamps are redundant in my country because of the price... college costs even less than a 1000 euros each year, and we are are renowned for providing excellent graduate engineers with data and AI skills

Hmm I would say that depends on the type of SWE work you want to do, but in general when it comes to large scale projects (codebases at companies for example) Java is still the go to because of it's clear and very precise design.
Do you think you can learn data science and get a job with prior technical working experience related to any computer science role? I think it is always hard and maybe startups accept to hire you without prior work experience
You definitely can. It is not easy, of course, and you need to have some sort of proof of your skills (professional experience, personal projects), but how you get that is up to you :)

yes u can

If I learn either of the two, will I be able to do the other??
If i learn AI, will I be able to do ML and vice versa??
Although AI and ML an not 100% the same, people use it interchangeably.
You will probably want to learn ML but in practice, I would say you would learn the same things either way :)
