The pathos in this film is unmatched in the pre-WWII period, as far as I am concerned. It is a genuine, small masterpiece in every sense. I could lose sleep over it. Thank you.

This film was classified as a propaganda film, which were usually second rate. Whether it was or it wasn't, this was certainly a very well written, and well acted movie that should be classified as first class, even better than most of the junk pawned off on us as movies today.

Interesting juxtaposition. In the West Sophie Scholler is a persecuted hero.
From a German perspective, she is simply a traitor. Thats borne up by the fact no memorials etc until the 80s, new generation.
However, its something often not realised. If your country is at war, any opposition to the government in wartime is a tratorous act, regardless of what party is in power

Whether German, Italian, Chinese, Russian, North Korean, etc., any race, including Englishmen who have abandoned their Godly heritage and who seek to enslave their fellow-woman and -man, by any and every means possible, utilizing lies, deceit, oppression, brutality, raising its horrendous head, once again, throughout the world today. May it be known that the powerful, magnificent message of this movie speaks across the decades to all such evil men, forecasting their ultimate doom, and the rebirth of freedom in our world. This film starred Martin Kosleck (sp?) as the Gestapo colonel and he also had a similar part in a movie Berlin Correspondent also made in '41. He plays a great villian. In real life he hated the Nazi Party and always wanted to be sure they were portrayed as evil.
Great acting all around by everyone especially Phillip Dorn as Erik.

Martin Kosleck was also in North Star as Dr Van Harden, beneath the scrubs assisting Eric Van Stroheim with his blood transfusions of Russian children, ostensibly collected as transfusions for wounded German soldiers.. The musical score was arranged by the late composer Aaron Copland. See North Star if you haven't already. I think that I saw it listed on one of these channels so it would be a good idea to catch it before they remove it. Cheers, under the circumstances.

For there are also many rebellious people, full of empty talk and deception, especially those from Judaism. It is necessary to silence them; they overthrow whole households by teaching what they shouldn’t in order to get money dishonestly. One of their very own prophets said,
Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
This testimony is true. So, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith and may not pay attention to Jewish myths and the commands of men who reject the truth.

A surprising film for 1941. However, I cannot believe that the underground could be so naive. There is a surprising turn of events. Though I would not label this as a propaganda film. Indeed, the story is sort of the story of McCarthyism. It is hard to imagine that this site could have put in more ads.

      Titus 1:10-16
For there are also many rebellious people, full of empty talk and deception, especially those from Judaism. It is necessary to silence them; they overthrow whole households by teaching what they shouldn’t in order to get money dishonestly. One of their very own prophets said,
Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.
This testimony is true. So, rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith and may not pay attention to Jewish myths and the commands of men who reject the truth.

Quite a high powered transmitter to be heard across Germany and a long transmission is not what you do. Of course they found them. Operate from a country which has not yet been occupied.
