This video is great Sarah, learned so much about Keystone and the ski area plus side trips on way back to Denver. Bravo! It's great to know solo skiing went so well since so many more are traveling solo.

Loveland Ski Area is a great place to learn to ski because they have a dedicated section with its own lower price that is a faction of the cost of the big resorts. Their group lessons also include rentals and lift tickets for the day - which is a great deal when you consider all that is still less expensive than a day at Keystone (depending on the day) or other major resorts.

We visited Keystone, along with Breckinridge and Vail in January 2022. This was our first time skiing in Colorado, so awesome. It is not overrated, so much skiing and loved seeing toddlers to 70+ year olds on the same runs. Already planning at least 2 trips next winter and getting the Epic pass.

My ski instructor at Breck looked older than the hills we were skiing on - which gave me hope I still had a few good skiing years left. He was also a great instructor.

Such an awesome video. I've always wanted to try skiing but the ski lift was always a deterent lol. Seeing a fully enclosed ski lift is something I can work with. Oh wait it is not enclosed. Yeah I can't lol.

Yep Colorado and a lot of larger resorts offer the enclosed gondolas which make it extremely comfortable to get up to the top!

I can guarantee you ski lifts are super safe and easy to get comfortable too! I’ve skied since I was 4 and never have had any kind of fear of riding them. People don’t fall off and they have a safety bar you can put down

@@Niyo833 I'm pretty sure they are super safe. Doesn't help with my fear, but I would like to at least attempt it one day.

My first skiing experience was Ski Apache in southern New Mexico but before Colorado, I skied at WinterPlace in West Virginia. Yeah, once you ski in Colorado you never return to the east for skiing. Eastern skiing requires going to Vermont, dealing with very short ski season and a lot of ice. However, the difference between skiing in the east and Rockies is pretty big. If you can due blues in the east, they are similar to harder greens in the Rockies - especially Keystone. Also the difference in altitude can be serious if you aren't in perfect shape, haven't adjusted yet, and you don't hydrate adequately - our first trip we had to return to Denver for a day before returning to Keystone. I've been told to try Spring Dipper instead of Schoolmarm because of traffic although Spring Dipper is a blue. If you are a first-timer, Keystone is not the best place to start - I recommend Breck or Loveland Ski Area (Valley) instead. Loveland is great because it is very affordable if you only do the Valley section - which is dedicated beginner area (no mixing with advanced skiers). I've heard that Copper Mountain is also good for the same reason but the tickets are a bit more. If you have an Epic pass, Breck is a great place to start - especially the base of peak 9. I generally don't recommend Keystone to novice skiers because their greens are a bit on the harder side which can be a big jump from the bunny hill. Breck has more mellow and shorter greens to ease the transition.
