To add on to what others have said, a lot of good pokemon clones or games inspired by pokemon maintain this art style. Cassette beasts and monster Sanctuary being 2 recent examples I can think of that are both excellent

Pokémon Ranger was before gen 4 And still, remakes are remakes, but they are the actual music. Just in better quality. Why put Littleroot town from RSE when you can have the improved version
@@dominikrosenkranz6611 gen 1 musics are, for the most part, in gen 2 and in the remakes due to Kanto being in HGSS. Battle themes aside, all the other themes are in the remakes

This animation of itself needs to be a pokemon fishing game of itself just choose a pokemon that knows surf and have at it whatever region you like and go fish :) would be cool to ride a lapras and explore regions.

(but i wouldnt want to play them nowadays)

I'll die on the hill that less was more in Pokémon design. 3D, after all these years, still does not look as good as the black and white games.
Play rom hacks. There are plenty of rom hacks that have all technology and pokemon but use 2D style. For example Unbound or Emerald Seaglass
