This is the first time I am stumbling onto a channel that doesn't make me feel like I need to parse through the sponsorships to sort out the actual information. You are not in my face trying to sell me anything, you are just here to educate and I appreciate it. You just have your purchasable things in the description where we all know to look for them and don't have to break the flow of the video which is just so...refreshing. You have gained a new subscriber and I look forward to learning from you because you clearly know what you are doing.
These tips are super helpful! I would also like to add that if you're a crocheter you can make a pattern tester call to get other crocheters to pattern test your patterns on Instagram (lots of crochet accounts do this)
Thank you Mei. Would you be able to share how we can minimize risks of our intellectual property getting plagiarized? It’s so easy to share files around and claiming that your design is theirs.
Hi there, I know this can be a risk in the digital age. Putting your business information on the pattern (in a non-obtrusive way) is one option. Another would be to research metadata. This is information that gets put into a digital file which shows who designed it. And lastly, know that there may be someone who copies your work and it is hard to shake that off but if you keep focusing on your brand and your customers then they won't even affect your sales. :)
Thank you for the tips. I feel like I would have more traffic with patterns vs me making it and selling the plush. I'm gonna switch and see if there's a difference.
I don't design patterns but I have a lot of vintage sewing patterns that I would like to sell. Should I used a video link as part of my selling strategy?
Hi Bertha! Although not necessary, it would be VERY helpful if you could include video links because that way, your beginner customers will have something that they could follow along/refer to in case they need visual resources. Detailed text-based tutorials with pictures will suffice but adding tutorial videos will make it stand out. Just make sure to have everything well-polished before you sell your patterns (i.e. make sure they're quality). You can go back at 9:30 to 11:07 for some tips. Good luck!! ❤️❤️
I have to comment on men's sweater niche - few men knit, that's true, but they still wear hand knit sweaters made by their women (moms, wives, gf) - the only issue is a sweater curse. I still think men's knitwear field is underrated and underexplored. Brooklyn tweed sells great men's sweater patterns. I believe this is a business that could fly.
Hi! This video was great! I own KnottyAbi and now looking into moving towards tutorials and patterns to create a new line of income rather than me creating items. This was so helpful! I wanted to ask since I am in the Macrame world. Do you know if the patterns that are sold come with some type of copyright or right to recreate for sale disclosure. I feel like that would be a great selling point for me but I am so new to this i dont even know how to word it. Would love your insight on that subject
Hi Abigail! I'm not very aware of rules/laws surrounding patterns so it would be best to reach out to experts. I would also suggest you conduct some research or check other similar shops selling patterns to get some ideas. You're also more than welcome to join our Creative Hive Facebook Group to get some insights from other fellow creatives in the macrame/pattern industry too. Here's the link in case you want to join: facebook.com/groups/creativebizmarketing Good luck and I wish you and your business all the best! ❤️
Hello! I am a graphic designer that specializes in creating clear written and illustrated instructions for knitted and woven projects. Do you know of anyone needing assistance in this?
