One piece of advice I gave my sons
"If you got to fight. Fight without fear. If you love. Love without reservation."
"If you're falling of a cliff. Might as well try to fly. You got nothing to lose."

As a mother of 3 boys ( my husbands google account) i cant even explain to you how much this song means to me. I had my kids at a young age and I had the best father and mother EVER, they helped me raise my kids. This is my go to song, the one i swear was written about my oldest son Brandon and I . I have listened to this song more times than any human could and EVERY SINGLE TIME I DO the emotion that it brings is overwhelming!!! I swear every word has actually happened with Brandon and I lol. My dad helped me raise these kids in such a touching way that when Rodney says HE's every last bit of my old mans son... well its true because my kids looked at my dad as their dad too. its so fitting for us and is his and mines ANTHEM. IT MEANS SO MUCH TO US AND I THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!

I'm in tears because I know so many young boys who seem like they've never had a strong, loving role model, or at the very least a few good people to commend them for what they do. Obviously, as a girl, I could never be a father figure to them, but I try to play a big sister role to them, which they seem to appreciate very much.
My little brother does karate, and during their starting workouts, one child was having a really hard time keeping up during the relay portion. My brother paused by the child and shouted, "Come on [Name], race me!" I almost started crying right there. For the rest of practice, my brother cheered him on, and I know he always does. He's told me about that kid before, even introducing him to me later; as the kid walked away, he said, "he's a great kid". I could not be prouder of him--he's the best kid in the world.
Our boys need some more love, guys! Don't let those "tough guy" fronts fool you--they need someone to claim them, say, "He's mine." I'll tell one of my younger guy friends that I'm proud of him for the work he does, and he'll break out into the widest smile and quietly say, "Thank you." A little (or a lot) of encouragement goes a long, long way!
I'm TOTALLY sending this to my guy friends right NOW. I think they'll love it. Thank you so much, Mr. Atkins. 😊

If you think you're that good, but you won't be. It usually came to blows, but my brother didn't have to fight until he was old enough to do it for himself. My husband and I have always loved this song!! Yesterday, at my 12 year old son's midget football game, part of this song became kinda true for us. The other team was playing dirty for 3/4 of the game. So when one of their players had their hands all over our QB outside of the actual play, my son went over and shoved him. They started fighting, and my husband, who is a coach, went out and pulled our son off the field. At first I thought he was mad at our son, so I pulled up this song's lyrics to show my mother-in-law that my husband shouldn't be mad. However, after the game was over, I discovered that my husband was in fact proud of our son for sticking up for his teammate. My husband was mad at the referee because he thought he grabbed my son's facemask when he broke them up. In fact, all the coaches were proud of my son and told him "thank you". I'm proud of him too!! 🥰🏈

This is the relationship most men dream of having with their sons (I believe). Problem is...this has to be nurtured and maintained, s'alot of work. Well worth it tbh. Work hard for your children, they all deserve this kind of Dad!! Beautiful song, well executed and wonderful video as well. thank you, kind sir, for your hard work putting this out to the world for us commoners!! Lots of Love from NY!!

My daddy taught me to never swing first but to always swing back. If I do swing first he said and I quote "You better a god damn good fuckin reason for it". I proved that the next year at a middle school football game when someone blindsided our quarterback....long story short I made the guy wish he never played football and got benched for the next two games and my father was so damn proud

This song reminds me of my dad. I did some dumb shit as a kid, and I know I was the cause for half the grey hair on my dad's head, but not once did he say anything other than " that's my son. I'll deal with him in a minute." He never punished me unjustly, never made me feel the brunt of his temper, but Lord have mercy on the person who tried to do his job for him. As an8 year old kid, someone tried to lay a hand on me, and my dad laid them out with one hit. I never felt his temper, but I saw the Force of his temper on someone else. He's been gone 9 years, and I still miss him. We had our little arguments, but we both knew our place.

Wow, my pop just forwarded this song to me,I've not heard it until today,my pop would say no one ever truly wins a fight, and it doesn't matter if u win or lose in your head,as long as the other guy never forgets u were there, uve done ur job, and never have I ever outright started a fight,(and there were plenty),the furthest I've ever come to starting a fight was standing up to the bullies who targeted kids they knew would do nothing in return,I can guarantee u not a one will forget my name, and as pop always said,no one ever wins a fight, in my late 40s I wouldn't be half the man I am w out my pop,,,,now my ma,that's another story, she wanted me to strike like a Cobra the second a mouse moved, lol, thanks pop I love you buddy,it makes me feel like a real man that you're proud of me.

Took my book sack, got a 5 maybe 6 yard run, next thing u know u hear a loud boom and he's on the ground me on top beating the shit out of him, a d at the time I loved to read so I had a big ass book took it out and damn near killed him, point being, no matter what protect younger sibling to siblings who can't defend them self, and rlly any giel cause nobody will go without fighting a punk.
