  • In earlier episodes, we discussed the threat of fire in the oil fields. Today we look at one of the novel solutions that the early oil industry came up with to reduce the spread of fires and preserve property. Underground storage tanks were used in Lambton County for many years since the thick clay soil allowed for limited oil loss to the surrounding environment. You can still see these underground storage tank lids dotting the landscape in Oil Springs and Petrolia.
