I'm from NYC and my advice: stay away from the subways, Hell's Kitchen, and the entire borough of the Bronx! If by chance you have to take the subway, then don't go alone! If anyone is staring at you hard, he or she(if not a group)is looking to either kill you or rob you! New York is hellfire right now! Other than that, the pizza is still top notch.

Everybody trying to give you some scary ass advice. I don’t know if times have changed since I went in 2016, but New York is full of the most kindest people I have ever met. The subway is so easy to use and it wasn’t scary at all. Turn up and have fun Charlotte.

    Charlotte,
I have been with this channel for years and years now and every night you help me go to sleep, you calm my anxiety, and just make me feel like I can relax. I'm sorry that you are feeling so burnt out, I understand the feeling. Whatever you decide I promise you the real scabby pigeons will be here no matter what. I adore your livestreams and unboxings too! Take it easy, we arent going anywhere. You still have 115k subscribers, that's a whole football field maybe even 2! You got this, we will be here and we care.

I've been watching ASMR videos for what must be around 15 years now (so right from the early days before it became as popular as it is today) and you are without doubt, right up there as one of my favourite ASMRtists, in fact, thinking about it, you ARE my fave ASMRtist. Aside from your videos, which are absolutely fab (I particularly like the gift wrapping ones...mesmerising!) it's how real you come across when you post videos like this one, it feels like I'm having a chat with a friend (well, more listening than chatting!) but it's your honest and welcoming personality that really shines through.
I don't create content myself, but I can appreciate just how much effort goes into what you create for us, including all of the things that don't quite go to plan like forgetting to turn the microphone on(!) but the effort you've put in to build your channel over the years should be commended. I guess my point in all this is that you need to do what's right for you - you've given us years of amazing content that I'm 100% certain all of your adoring followers, including me, will be eternally grateful for, and we'd love you to be able to rediscover your passion and create a lot more. But, if it turns out that you feel you've reached the end of your journey here then although I'd be absolutely gutted, I'd also completely understand and respect your decision and would be left feeling very grateful that we've been able to be a small part of your life for the time you've been creating content. Thank you, thank you, thank you for doing what you do Charlotte, you're the best 😉
Oh, and PS: definitely go to the 9/11 museum, I went there a few years ago with my partner and her parents (it was her 40th birthday at the time too) and although it was very a sad, tragic and humbling experience, it also gives you an overwhelming sense of pride in just how amazing people and their actions can be towards others (who were often strangers) in the face of such a terrible, horrific event. I still think about my time visiting the museum to this day. It will leave it's mark on you, trust me.

This might be my first ever comment on UA-cam. I've also been a silent listener for years. You've been my favorite asmrtist for just about a decade. I understand if UA-cam isn't a profitable enough venture to pursue, and if it's not then you should definitely go after the things that bring you the most success. But at least know that for some of us, your asmr brings immense enjoyment and that your content is a significant positive contribution, even if its reach does get fucked over by the algorithm. Let us know what else we can do to support you. Lately I've thought that a mixture of asmr over music could become a genre of its own, but that's probably just crackpot nonsense. Regardless, please know that whatever your decision is going forward, you've left an unquestionable impact and your shoes are impossible to fill. Much love. I hope whatever you do pursue is met with crushing success. All the best!

Personally, I would say that the best and least expensive way to get from JFK to New York City is to take the AirTrain from JFK to the Jamaica Station on the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and then from Jamaica Station to Penn Station in New York City.
There are barriers in between the AirTrain platform and the Jamaica Station that require an $8 MetroCard fare for entry (you can purchase a MetroCard at a terminal on the AirTrain side of things). A MetroCard is a useful thing to have since it is how you can access the subway system in New York City in the event you need to.
Then, once at Jamaica Station, purchase a ticket from Jamaica Station to Penn Station in New York City (the fare will be about $8-$11 for a one-way trip). The trains on the Long Island Rail Road have overhead shelving above the seats where you can put your luggage while you are traveling on the train. The train ride from Jamaica Station to Penn Station is roughly 20 to 30 minutes.
Once you are at Penn Station, if your hotel is close enough, you can exit Penn Station on the street level and walk. If farther away, you have the option of taking a taxi, an Uber, a bus, or the subway. The fare for a taxi or Uber will be much cheaper inside New York City to your hotel than trying to get a taxi or Uber directly from JFK.
I hope that this information proves useful. 😊

You are my favorite ASMR artist. I consistently listen to your videos when I'm going to sleep. You have this perfect blend of soft talking/whispering, natural object sounds, and then silence that makes me completely let go and relax and fall asleep. It's such a great feeling! I'm not a fan of tapping or constant chatter with other ASMR folks. You have a gift. I am always happy to see when you have a new video. Hope you were able to stay well when your partner came home sick! I live in Atlanta, GA. Haven't ever been to New York, but I work in theater and would encourage you to seek out a show off-Broadway. Cheaper and usually just as compelling. Maybe an improv show? I think maybe you book comedians (?) as part of your work, so maybe you're not into that on your vacation. But, if you're looking for grandness, I've heard great things about The Cursed Child. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip, if you choose to share it here!

🗽🐙🐦 Yours are the only ASMR videos I watch. I started watching after I saw you on Would I Lie to You. I really like how natural and real you are. You have helped me sleep so many nights when my anxiety won't let my brain turn off. You (and Joe, I guess) have made a significant difference in my life. I hope you rekindle your love for youtube but more importantly, do what makes you happy. If you never uploaded another new video, I would just keep rewatching your old ones over and over.

Lived there for 10 years. Few things:
    - I'm happy to report that NYC will be in full Christmas mode for you!
    - Definitely go get one fancy cocktail at Apotheke (go right when they open to get a gorgeous seat), it's a quintessential NYC speakeasy vibe, and it's a fun walk through Chinatown.
    - Rent a karaoke room in Koreatown
    - If you go to Macy's (or any store) do not go the day after Thanksgiving, and if you can, go on a weekday after that first weekend.

My NYC tip would be to go up to the top of 30 Rock instead of the Empire State Building, the crowds aren’t as bad, the views are basically the same and you can actually get the Empire State Building in your pictures!
Also see if Seth Myers is taping, it’s free and in 30 Rock too, it was a lot of fun.

Another lovely, gentle video Charlotte. You are really good at this. Sorry you had to do it twice. Have an octopus: 🐙
Even if you drop all the role play videos and just do more like this, I'm sure people will like them. For me it is your voice that is the most magical element and the natural gentleness and good humour that always seem to come through. I won't deny it also helps that, 10 years on, you remain such a beautiful woman...that dimple when you smile......it's hard to think you are 40. I take my hat off to Kristian.😉
About Thanksgiving, I once went to a Thanksgiving dinner given in London by an American neighbour of my then wife-to-be. It involved turkey, which was good, and then either a pumpkin pie or a pecan pie. I'm afraid I can't remember which, but I do recall I didn't like it much: sweet, very bland, and too filling after the turkey. No idea how typical this is, though. When we lived in Houston we kept our heads down at Thanksgiving - it didn't really seem to be our party, seeing as the early settlers were often people made unwelcome in Europe. But have a great time in NY. Hope Kristian gets well quickly, as I'm sure he will, being a fit young chap.

Oh another cool thing to do that is free is to be an audience member in a talk show. If you ever watch Seth Meyers, Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah, Jon Stewart, its usually not too difficult to snag a ticket off of 1iota. It is a time commitment - could be 4 hours or so, but definitely an experience!
Also recommend you see a comedy show! I recommend UCB or Gotham Comedy Club - big names will sometimes surprise you!

    • @TheASMRAngel
      @TheASMRAngel  Рік тому +1

I'll have to put my name down and see if I'm picked as an audience member. I was thinking of a comedy show but it might be a bit of a busman's holiday as that is what I do for a job and can't usually relax at them because I'm always looking at how the show is being run 😂

There was a bit of a queue to get in when we went around Labour Day 2018 but it’s soooo worth it! ❤ the view from the Rockefeller is beautiful too! Hiiiiii! So I have been watching your channel for many, many years, and fun fact: You were my first ASMRtist!
I remember looking at Magic The Gathering card unboxings, and then the video ended and pop! There's Charlotte! It was the "What's in my makeup bag" video featuring Glamorous Gabby, and I would have loved to watch the whole thing but it knocked me out COLD. I woke up and was like..."Huh. It's like targeted science teacher voice in a cute British form." It actually started my ASMR addiction and brought me to all my favorite artists, the first of which being...⭐️You!⭐️
Thank you for all the things and you are just the most amazing and adorable person. I absolutely love your characters and their quirky mannerisms. Daisy Flowers. Oh dear. Poor Daisy. I want Daisy to just have a good day. A day where nothing goes wrong and everything is nice.
That and Bad At Her Job Girl has probably given me the most tingles, but I can't fall asleep because I am too interested in what she's doing.
Even more amusing is that one time I went to pick up my sister from Cosmetics school and the staff thought I was trying to apply to join the class. I told them that my careers advisor told me that I needed to go there to learn the therapy of beautiful people. They looked at me like I was an idiot, but I just improvised a story and refused to acknowlesge that my advisor was wrong.
...Until my sister came out. But it was fun.
    You are the best x3

Re the heating, have you looked into heated gilet jackets? If you happen to have a power bank for a mobile phone then you can pick up the jackets for about £30 and they're really cheap to run off the power bank (especially if you can charge the bank off peak), so if you're finding heating the entire home difficult, it at least allows you to heat yourself (they also tend to have linings that stay warm for a while after you switch off the heating elements).

Take a cab from JFK, its a flat rate. Don't use uber, costs much more. I think by that time the crowds will be minimal and the subway is a bit complicated and tiresome after a long flight. Book a dinner on Thanksgiving, if you google places that are open I'm sure there are restaurants that do a special dinner. Otherwise Chinese restaurants on holidays in NYC are the best, you will never be disappointed! Christmas windows on 5th Ave should be up, your friend can shop, you can enjoy the beautifully done windows. Transit museum in Brooklyn is great! Musem of Natural History is amazing!! I have endless recommendations, Domino Park in Brooklyn for the view of the city, Staten Island Ferry - free and great view of the city. Have fun, Happy Birthday :)

Hi Charlotte. I just returned from a trip to NYC with my wife and adult children. We saw that they were doing a lot of setup/construction in Bryant Park for their yearly winter Christmas village. I looked online and it is supposed be the best Christmas market in NYC. Also, it is directly behind the iconic NY Public Library - big old beautiful building that you should visit and look around, it's free to enter.
Regarding museums, have you been to The Met? Huge museum.
Also, we took a walking tour that covered SoHo, Little Italy and Chinatown. There are many walking tours available for various parts of the city - you can find them on Viator.
I hope that you have a great time in NYC.

Been to NYC twice. First time saw the Thanksgiving Parade. It was ok. Better to watch on TV as driving and parking was insane. Second trip stayed in New Jersey on the shore and at a hotel that looked directly at NYC. It was spectacular. We spent all day and had dinner in the city and went back via the Ferry. The beautiful tree at Rockefeller Centre, Ice-Skating and Macy’s Christmas windows. We stayed for 5 days and crammed a lot in. Just going to 5th Avenue and watching all the people, and there are thousands. CHELSEA markets! Lastly. Can’t stress this enough, ask if you can get a better price on everything😁 Seriously. My hubby is an Aussie and the Yanks love an Accent. You have a lovely voice and accent. You might be surprised.
Enjoy your trip. Great time to be there.

The classic Thanksgiving dinner for me would be roast turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, and green bean casserole. But be aware that the majority of things in the US shut down for thanksgiving. Like, fast food and drugstores might still be open, but a lot of other places will be closed. Especially federally run stuff like the Statue of Liberty are going to be shut down.

I blame the fact that the last two years were just like "lost" years. I was 34 when freaking Covid started. I just cannot see myself as someone in my late thirties. It doesn't mesh with how I feel.

The Thanksgiving parade is typically in the morning around 10Am EST and the dinner in the US is a similar meal to Christmas only Turkey is the main protein/focal point of the meal. There are also some quintessential sides such as mashed potatoes, a stuffing, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce and finished with pumpkin pie. I'm not sure of any specific restaurants in NYC to go to for the dinner but I'm sure Google would have some recommendations. Sorry it's not more information.
