  • The International MaxxPro MRAP (Mine Resistant Ambush Protected) vehicle is an armored fighting vehicle designed by American company Navistar International's subsidiary Navistar Defense along with the Israeli Plasan Sasa, who designed and manufactures the vehicle's armor.
    The vehicle was designed to take part in the US Military's Mine Resistant Ambush Protected vehicle program, led by the US Marine Corps, as well as a similar US Army-led Medium Mine Protected Vehicle program.
    MRAPs are categorized as category 1 or category 2, depending on usage and passenger compartment space, and Navistar produces the MaxxPro in both sizes, although the vast majority of those sold have been category 1 MRAPs. The MaxxPro Plus model comes with dual rear wheels for increased load carrying capacity, such as an ambulance or EFP protected variant. The latest model produced is the MaxxPro Dash, which is a smaller and lighter category 1 model. Both the Plus and Dash models use the MaxxForce 10 engine with 375 hp, in place of the DT 530 with 330 hp, used in the original base model produced.

    It´s called "weathering", not adding 20 layers of smirky shit to make the vehicle look as unrealistic as possible... You won´t ever see an MRAP which looks like this.

    Great job on the dash board, I built mine and painted it with Model Master Desert Sand Paint and weathered it slightly with some diluted light brown flat acrylic paint . They have some full scale MRAP MaxxPros at the National Guard Armory near where I live in America so I copied the paint color they have , I want to get a look inside the real ones, but they are fenced in.

    I know this post is a little old, but Great job Carlos. But one small detail on the facts at the beginning. Kinetic did not make a Dash Model. No one does. I know as I have worked on the MaxxPro for 6 years. The Dash has shorter a/c grilles on the sides and the roof is flat from the windshield straight back. We did this when we shortened the vehicle about a foot and reduced the height about 10 inches. I made the only Dash model in existence by cutting up a resin version. Other than that, very good detail, looks great.

    Great build up! At what stage did you remove the tape masks from the small side windows? They seem to be there as you paint the body. Did you just mount the windows temporarily?

    That model doesn't look realistic. You use color modulation that destroy the model. To make a shadows you use light BUT NOT A PAINT

    • @Ducesweden
      @Ducesweden 9 років тому +3

      Destroyed? You are crazy!
      When he paint shadows it gives the model more of a depth. You can say that you don't like how it looks, but the model is not destroyed!

    • @eatqsworld2424

      But It makes model not realistic

    • @Z3kyTw0
      @Z3kyTw0 9 років тому +1

      EATQs World i would agree that it needs to be lighter more towards the normal sand color but the technique he used is spot on. If we would have used this vehicle through a more moody and rainy environment it would look like this.

    • @TacticsTechniquesandProcedures
      @TacticsTechniquesandProcedures 9 років тому

      THIS LOOKS FANTASTIC! Subscribed and liked. However, the color modulation doesn't fit with how I remember this vehicle. While a muddy environment would look like this on the low half or even third of the vehicle. The top 1/3 or 1/2 would very much retain its tan color . We drove through shit-trenches quite often so if he stayed with this color he'd be spot on but only if he came back in and post-shaded the top 1/3 or half with a lighter, tan weathered effect. In other words, the weathering is too uniform. I'm also being VERY nitpicky at this point though. THIS LOOKS FANTASTIC! Source: served two deployments in Iraq utilizing the M1151, M1114, and MRAP 4x4(and other HMMWV variants).

      I think he definitely brought this model alive ,it is not ruined ,it is very good actually , a different style of paint job , there is alot of art work going on here ,and the environment of the vehicle is in the mind of the maker ,it is not just flat colour and boring
