My mom works at a bank, and that was very beneficial to starting my coin and currency collection. So many people bring in old money to make deposits it’s crazy! 1934 100 dollar bills 50s and 20s, silver dollars and half dollars. 1929 2s and 5s and Silver certificatesI was able to get most of my collection at face value because people were depositing their old money.
I just watched your comp. hunt with your brother where you had mentioned this video. I had to watch this Video to see why people thought it was a set deck. I believe you found them in the roles. But, I think I know why people thought it was set up. When I find a awesome coin like my seated liberty dime I was screaming and doing cartwheels. In your vid you were nonchalant like no big deal. I believe but I can say why some jeolous or a- holes would'nt. Thanks for Sharing.
Romance for Relics and bottles haha yes I get it. When I made this video, i hadn't even opened $100 worth of nickels yet and I wasn't super big into coins. So I guess I wasn't able to appreciate what I had found yet.
@@rp101aquatics6 Yeah. In the 1920's-1930's the stock market crashed. Causing *The Great Depression* that's why there are no coins minted for some years in the 20's and 30's.
That roll was AMAZING... I started looking through rolls a few months ago, not looking for old coins, but specifically looking for 2009 dated coins... much to my surprise I found that there were still old coins out there in circulation. This past Sunday, I found my first V nickel ever - a 1902. 2 weeks before that I found a 1937 Buffalo. I've also found 9 War Nickels to date, along with a 1938-D Jefferson, 3 1942-D's, a 1949-S, 2 1951-S's, along with a couple hundred or so other more common date pre-60s... and believe it or not a 2006-S proof nickel.
There are definitely still old coins out there! I haven't been having much luck recently though...which explains the lack of videos. Those are some awesome finds though! You really never know with nickels, they are in my opinion the best denomination to hunt for this reason. Happy hunting!
i hit the jackpot too, i got a whole roll of 40's 2 whole rolls of 50's a roll of mixed, a roll of 4 buffalos and 40-50's a roll of 7 buffalos and Canadians 20-60's and another roll of 4 Buffalo nickels, check my Instagram for photos
I used to do this in the late 80's and early 90's. Lately at my local bank I ask for any half dollar rolls they may have. Not surprised I have found 40% silver half dollars. Numismatics is fun.
I've never seen a v nickel without a date, but I've seen plenty dateless Buffaloes. They just didn't do a great job designing that coin, the dates wear off way too easily.
I went to a maritime museum in an old coastal NC town and i looked in the donations box and sitting before me were a silver quarter, a buffalo nickel, and a v nickel. I notified the lady at the front desk and told her they were worth more than face value, especially in their great condition. She pulled out the v nickel and gave it to me, and i then went to the gift shop and the ladies there knew what they were looking for and didn't want to let me buy the silver quarters off of them. Hahah crazy day. Nice video!

In the mid to late 60s a friend and I would go to the bank every Friday and get a $100 loose bag of pennies and a $200 loose bag of nickels - all parking meter coins. Although buffaloes were fairly common, V nickels sure weren't! Excellent find!!
Basically, any wheat of course, 55 double die, and in the nickels, there were quite a few buffaloes still in circulation. At nearly 65 I've started again. Fun isn't it? Parking meter coins were the best and they were brought to the bank in bulk. The bank separated the denominations and in turn they were placed in bags too, not rolled. Not like that these days! After moving to Arizona, my wife worked as a teller. SCORE! The best two things she found were ten $10 bills with just the first two printings and 3 rolls of Franklin halves that were cashed in for paper. When she realized this, she remembered the customer who was a regular and held them for him. He didn't want them back and told her to keep them. Two years later in 1979, silver hit $53+ an ounce. I kept a few dates and cashed the rest for melt value. Dammit, now you have me wanting to go to the bank!!
