Sigma EF-M Lens Trio for Canon Mirrorless // REVIEW + TONS of Demo Footage
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 лип 2024
- Sigma has created an amazing f/1.4 EF-M LENS TRIO for Canon Mirrorless cameras like the Canon M50, and the Canon M6 Mk II.
I’ve been talking about my Sigma 16mm f/1.4 EF-M lens for months now, but today I test and review the 30mm and the 56mm to see how they compare.
This video includes TONS of demo footage with each Sigma lens, as well as a discussion about which lens is best for different shots, and things you should consider when using each focal length.
I include comparisons of video-specific issues such as image stabilization, lens noise, the parallax effect, and more.
Tell me in the comments which Sigma EF-M lens is your favorite, and what else you would like to learn about video production gear.
Special thank you to Sigma for letting me test out their awesome lenses!

Bye! ☀️
This is the best breakdown of prime lenses I’ve seen and I’ve worked professionally in the industry for years... 👍
Thanks so much Matthew! It was a lot to cover but a lot of fun too 😄
Tech Gear Talk covers these lenses pretty well too ua-cam.com/video/uORT1dfeS0M/v-deo.html
Yeah she did a damn good job. ⭐️
GOLD!! Actual gold. I love all this demo footage and the fact that you showed how far away you have to be for each? Yay I've decided the 30mm is best for me. Thankyou!! you made it so easy
Beauty with intelligence - perfect combo - you are rocking 👌🔥👍
Alicia! Just discovered you today. Will definitely be checking out more on your channel. Thanks for this!
Just saw this now. Very well presented 👍🏼 You’re a natural. Keep up the great videos/vlogs.

Keep it up Alicia! This is really informational and awesome!
Amazing video! Packed with so much information. These are great lenses for sure. Thanks for sharing!
An excellent & complete review! Thanks.
Best review of sigma lens for m50. I'm really convinced that I need sigma m series lenses for my m50. Thank you
just found your channel while researching the canon m50! great content! Now I know what camera I will get as I am revamping my YT channel and will def get the trio lens! Thanks again! Signed a new subbie!
I really like your teaching style! Great job!
Really good review, thank you!
Again a great review Alicia. Thanks for that. I'm still not into the 16mm but I've ordered the 56mm to complete my trio (11-22, 30, 56).
Very informative video as usual Alicia...Those lenses are very cool... Stay safe Hun with all that is going on. :)
Amazing video and so helpful. Thank you!
That was really a wonderful video presentation discussing the Sigma lenses. I never really understood their purpose before. Thank you so very much. 😊
This is the best video I have seen produced from M50, cannot believe it’s that camera. Can I ask what are the other settings you are using.
Great review, I really enjoyed this, very informative 👍😊
I love the joby tripod. It's extremely versatile and is a very sturdy, high quality product. I stumbled upon your channel recently and can't thank you enough for the in depth information about the Canon M6 Mark II & videos like this that have taught me so much. Thank you!!
Thank you, great explaination!
Just waiting to receive my M50 this was super detailed, informative and great use case examples that are so practical and well thought out from the buyer's perspective of all levels!
Thanks so much!! I’m glad it was helpful and can hopefully help you make a decision on best lenses for your new M50 ☺️
Lots of details no one else has covered - thanks :)
Hi alicia! Thank you. You really explained it very well.
Very informative, im so close to buying one of the trio for my m50! Thanks dear!
Sure thing! Glad it helped :) You will love owning these lenses!
Thanks ! Very informative, i like How detailed it was with all the examples !
Damn good job on the vid! 🍾
Great Video. Thanks for doing such a Great Job !
Awesome! thank you for this vid. Very helpful!
So glad to hear that, thank you!
Great video. I've been waiting for this. I currently have the 30mm and love it for photography. I plan to get the 16mm shortly. And the 56mm eventually. This just makes me want to get them all right now.
Haha I bet! The lens buying addiction is real. That sounds like a good plan though.. you will love the 16 :)
Hi Alicia! I found out about your channel because of the UA-cam suggestions and I'M BLOWN AWAY! The way you explain it's absolutely amazing and I love your honesty and knowledge. At the time I own a CANON EOS M50 and I love it. Recently I got a Canon lens 11-22 mm and I'd like to keep adding lenses to my kit (I do daily vlogs+beauty content+life) so I'm hesitating about getting the sigma 30mm or 16 mm. What do you think would work best with my other lenses? I'm not trying to "upgrade" the one that I have, just trying to add one more to my collection and make different shots. Thank you for taking the time for reading this!
What a great review and comparison! 30mm & 16mm for me 🙌🏼
Awesome video. I'm not sure which lens I'll get but I'll get it off your link to support your channel
I’m subscribing to this channel. You are so detailed and I do love your breakdowns thank you
Thanks Antonio! Welcome to the channel :)
Good hands on review and comparison 👍
Very helpful! Thanks for the hard work! Sigma should let you keep them!
Nice clear run down. Thanks
love this video, I purchased the 30mm sigma for my M50 and absolutely love it; would buy it again
Nice comprehensive review, I personally use these trio of Sigma lenses for my videos and I love them 😎👍🏻
That's awesome to hear, and thanks! I think you may be the first person commenting who owns all 3 👍🏼
Hi from indonesia..i'm ur new subscriber..thanks for the review by the way😊✌🏽
OMG 😳 YOUR COLOUR GRADE...🤤
Out of this world...beautiful and sharp images. 🌺🌳
I am learning so much from your videos. I got the 16mm Sigma for my Canon M50 based on your video. I am just 1 day in but it is absolutely amazing. Thank you.
did you have to buy a mount?
Super film! Thank you!
Just in case anyone is looking for feedback regarding this awesome trio, I can speak from first-hand experience with the 16mm. Here I figured it would thrive primarily as a great vlogging, and street photography lens, but it is fantastic as a portrait lens too! Generally I reserve that type of praise for the nifty fifty's, and the 85mm lenses, but the 16mm allows me to get nice and close to my subjects. I love that lens and would honestly recommend it as my first choice out of the three.
1:16 "Fascinating." Just like this video! Thank you! :D
9:18 That background music transition is on-point.
12:25 The "AMaeTV" logo lines up almost perfectly with the stick on your Mac. Lolz.
Congo for 50 k
I was planning on getting the Canon 32mm f/1.4 EF-M for my M50 (Mark II) but I already made up my mind to get the Sigma 30mm due to the fact that it's way cheaper, has a sleeker look, the images look baetter to me & I love the fact that it comes with the lens hood.
Best lenses I ever got, can't recommend them enough. If you ever take photos indoors you will be grateful for the day you got the 16mm f/1.4
Thank you for the video. I will go with 16 & 56mm lenses
I love how your child smiles😁
Best review of the lens
Nice showing, thx
Excellent reviews and I am glad that you are here in Atlanta area. Hello neighbor.
I have the M50 and purchased the Sigma 16mm and I have 6 grandkids it works great making videos of them , I can get nice shots of them skateboarding, play basketball and just running around. Also the1.4 great indoor shots
I just got the 30mm one and I'm blown away
Great video 👍
Thank you for that informative comparison on the lenses.
For my use I think the 16 mm will be the best option.
I will really consider buying one 👍
Stay safe and healthy
So glad you enjoyed the video! You will love the 16mm.. We are definitely staying safe and healthy and we hope you do the same 😃
Love this video and the informational analysis! So if I were to get one extra lens in addition to the kit lens, it would be either the 16 or 30mm right?
Exelent video💯✔
Great Content
I recently discovered your amazing channel and as I'm a lucky m50 owner as well I'm really thankful to you for all the fantastic content you're publishing. As I'm about to buy my first sigma lens I was wondering which one, in your opinion, is the best for travel footages. I guess the 30mm is the best one but I'm still not 100% sure 🤔
Nice video thanks
Love it ,thank you for who you are
Thank you for your kind words!
Great production. 👍🏾
Thanks!
How does the 15-45mm kit lens compare to these Sigma lenses? 🤔
I mostly use the 22mm w/ my M50 since it's awesome in low light, but I swap it for the 15-45 when I take my camera anywhere I might need to zoom. I've tried the 11-22mm for versatility, but it's terrible in low light.
I'm trying to figure out if the 15-45 can get crisp zoom shots and it's just user error, if I should spring for the 30mm Sigma, or if I should upgrade my camera to something better for combo video/photo usage. I love how compact my M50 is, and I was hoping the new M50 Mark II would be my answer, but it seems to offer few improvements. Appreciate any advice you can offer. ♥
Nice one! They are brilliant lens.... I will have at least one from this line once the isolation is all done with 😓....#stayhome #staysafe
Pure beautifulness
👍👍
Excellent video 🙏🙏
This channel is brutally underrated.
I really loved hearing your perspective on these lenses and your uses as well as limitations you found with each focal length. I haven’t used the 30mm because I already had the Canon 32mm but there was one thing I’ve distinctly noticed with my 16mm and 56mm when compared to my 22mm and 32mm - that’s the color rendering. My greens tend to look cooler and there’s more magenta tint to the image. It’s not a distraction by any means, but I do prefer the color from the Canon lenses when tested side-by-side…but they’re still incredible lenses and very welcome to the M-mount.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing that. I've always wanted to do an even MORE comprehensive review and comparison of all the lenses by both brands- so I will consider color and look out for this whenever I do 😃
Incredible video. Hate to be a copycat to comments below, but this is one of the best product explainer/comparison videos I've ever seen.
I went with the 30mm! Thanks!
I would love for you to compare these lenses with the sigma 18-35mm
I'm tempted with a 16mm or 30mm so I can't thank you enough for the level of detail in this video.
I thought I need to go to sonys line up to achieve these type of sharpness in video but woooww Im in love with the m50 again.
Alicia...great vid! Which of these would you recommend for a sit-down interview?
Nice video well presented
I have just invested in a Canon eos M50 for filming.
Mainly because of your cool videos and reviews.
Thumbs up from a Danish fan :D
That’s so awesome to hear! I’m sure you will love the M50 😃😃
Another awesome video! Does the 16mm have an initial crop taking it to 18mm (or more)? I noticed my 11mm starts around 12-13mm
Thanks for the video! I'm wondering if you would (or would not) also recommend the sigma 30mm ART HSM + viltrox adapter over the sigma dc 30mm? Thank you!
Video everything just wow
2:36 - A GREAT point that so many people miss! And a +1 for the Modest Mouse shirt @ 3:20. ;-)
I love your videos, with your sweet daugthers smile. 😊 I have the same Canonon M6 Mark II, and i get tomorrow my Ronin sc for the Camera.
Excellent videos, congratulations! What lens do you advise for gastronomic photography,Thanks!
Thank you Alicia for this video! I began using canon eos m200 with a kit lens but I hope to try one of these or canon 22 mm lens. I wonder what you think of canon 22 mm lens and shooting with different bit. What's you recomendation? Are you shooting with 10 bit cameras or you just do not feel like it is necessary for your needs? thank you!
this is such a well made video! love the comparison between 3 lenses and it is just so professional.
im planning to get a lens for portrait photos/ some b roll for my vlogs. which do you think (16/30mm) would be a better choice?
anyway big support from Hong Kong and love your vids!
Thanks so much! For portraits and B roll I'd say the 30.. it's going to give you gorgeous portraits and nice close-up and personal B Roll.. you will love it 😊 And hello to Hong Kong!
Thank you!
Hello! I may have missed it because I'm new to the channel, but I wanted to see if you have any videos about the Canon 22mm f/2 lens? Thanks.
Hi!! I want to buy the M50 for photography, I love the 24mm and the 35mm on a full frame, and I have a lot of doubts with the EF-M lenses. I’m loving the Sigma 16mm and the 30mm (thank you😁) but I have some doubts with the canon 22mm f/2. Can you compare this lenses? Would worth getting these three or some would look quite same?
Thank you so much for a clear, informative comparison...but now I'm stumped on which one to get. (Can only get one now.) I have a new M50, and I put the Canon 18-150mm EF-M lens on it, which I love. Should I get the 16mm or the 30mm? With the cheaper price on the 30 I might be able to swing a gimbal also. Not a vlogger, but I love taking video, and will be making content for my church. Any advice?
Very informative Thank you
And btw 24p is now available in m6 mark ii
What lens did you use to do your sitting down part? Thank you!
You do gorgeous work!!!
Hey Alicia, absolutely love your videos! I was wondering for APsc cameras you have to multiply the crop factor for the aperture as well? For example for the sigma 30mm f1.4, would be the equivalent of a 45mm full frame size, so would the f1.4 change or remain constant at 1.4?
Thank you so much
Thanks for great review . i think you made the best sigma trio lens review on youtube..
i been trying to decide between the 3 lens you covered.. your video is the only video that gave me the answer.. all the other video made me even more confused about myself after watching them lol..
at first glance i liked the 16mm but i try not to get it because i have canon 11-22mm on my m50 i love how sharp image is and it's very light but like you said it starts at F4..which sucked for indoor videos..
and i have vintage lens konica hexanon 40mm f1.8 which is some what close to the 30mm so i didnt want their 30mm..
and i have the interesting have konica hexanon 57mm F1.2 so very close to the sigma's 56mm lens..
my lens being F1.2 i didnt want to down grade to "F1.4"..
so i had all the right reason to be indecisive.
but when you said your kid always comes right next to you while you're filming her.... and all the other focal length becomes unusable other than the 16mm.. because my kid is the exact same way :D
you earned my Subscription :D
Hey, I love your videos and wondered if you could give me some advice on the best lens to get next. I have the m6mk2 with 22mm, kit lens, 55-200mm and the apc 50mm with adapter.
I mainly use the camera for travel (!) and taking family shots and video. I did have the same gimbal as you but sent it back as found the set up too much hassle. I'm torn between the sigma 16mm but the talking to camera I do is limited, the Canon 32mm (but do I need this if I have the 22mm or 50mm?) or the sigma 56mm. Right now I'm favoring the 32mm for the image quality...
Your video quality was really good. 👍🏽 What picture profile did you use???
Hey, I love your videos!! I just got a cannon m6 mark ll with the 16 mm lens! Do I need an adapter for my lens to fit on the body? I didn’t think so but I can’t seem to get it to fit. Thanks for all of your info😊
Sigma also have a lens-mount changing service, so if you change to Sigma+Leica's native L-mount, Sony E-mount or Panasonic/Olympus MFT-mount, you can save money by paying a small amount for the conversion rather than a large amount for new lenses. All three of those mounts have stabilization, too ;)
Great Video! What do you think about the Canon EF 11-22mm lens? Which one of the Sigma Lens Trio would take its place?
thanks you for this review , i was looking for video performence of these lens but counldn't find one . if you have any experience of useing this lens for fuji x mount please share .
Great video! Do you think the 30mm would be too tight for talking head, at a desk type UA-cam content?
