    I just flew the Cessna Citation Longitude and the thrust reversers would not retract after landing, so the aircraft was stuck on the runway.

      Haha, well that can’t be true. . . according to Asobo’s release notes, they fixed up the thrust reversers on all aircraft (a little too well apparently)! : P

      Hmm, sounds like a bug then I guess. Asobo did mention updates on thrust reversers, so they must have broken something in the process (sadly something that seems to happen all too often). Unfortunately it’ll probably be a while before things get fixed up as well. . .

    And just to clarify to people in the community since ive seen atleast a few people confused about this, but this update is exclusively prop physics and making them abide by the same simulation as wing surfaces. The new CFD airflow simulation they teased in the feature discovery and livestream is sim update 9.

      A very good point to clarify there Raven and one I think I got a little caught out on myself; I knew the physics update related to prop physics, but for some reason I had it in my head that would include prop wash etc as well (hence testing elevator effectiveness etc). Most of my tests in the Cessna were probably a bit moot then, but at least the King Air provided a good demonstration of what Asobo has achieved.

    So there are a couple of default aircraft that have the prop modeling enabled. The way I read it, you can enable prop modeling on any default prop aircraft ? How is this done? Does anyone know?

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Andrew,
      I don’t believe that’s the case: Currently the C152, C208 and the Kingair 350i are the only default aircraft with the updated prop physics modelled / enabled. Whilst developers can choose whether or not to use this functionality, the prop physics would need to be modelled, in order for them to be “enabled”.
      In short, I don’t believe you can use the new prop physics on any default aircraft outside of the ones mentioned above.
      I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best! : )

      Yeah, Asobo get a lot of flack (some of it deserved), but I don’t think anyone could accuse them of not trying to work with the community. MSFS is frustrating when it comes to aircraft physics for me. As a real world pilot and flight sim enthusiast I can understand there is going to be a limit as to how much a sim can replicate real world flight, however my issue with MSFS is with the tailwheel aircraft physics within the sim. I feel that ASOBO have completely dropped the ball with this one. The taxi/ takeoff physics are not even close to real-life! They have more in common with an arcade game than a sim tbh. If you compare the tailwheel physics of aircraft in DCS world to MSFS, it doesn't even come close. Nose wheel undercarriage aircraft get away with this shortcoming within MSFS because these aircraft don't experience the same yaw instability on taxi and takeoff and will generally self-center if they swerv on landing
    Tailwheel aircraft are much more susceptible to ground looping. Ground-looping occurs because, whereas a nosewheel aircraft is steered from ahead of the center of gravity, a taildragger is steered from behind which makes them inherently unstable on the ground. In addition, some tailwheel aircraft must transition from using the rudder to steering using a castoring tailwheel while passing through the speed range when neither is wholly effective due to the nose high angle of the aircraft and lack of airflow over the rudder. DCS World has modelled these physics really well better than any other sim I've experience. Its so unfortunate MSFS have opted to avoid modelling this.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  Рік тому

      Hi MW,
      Yes, MSFS can certainly still be a frustrating sim and taildragger physics are still in need of much work (with Asobo not having been in much of a hurry to fix them it seems). I gather Asobo is aware of what's causing the issues, so hopefully we will see improvements at some point going forward. It seems like for the time being, devs custom coding their own physics (as we have just seen with FlyingIron's Hellcat) is the only real solution.
      The DCS ground physics are light years ahead and indeed, DCS has the best flight modelling of any sim from what I have seen. No sim is perfect though and MSFS does have its own strengths. The good news is, even after 2 years, MSFS is still the relatively new kid on the block; though progress has been slow, the sim has definitely come on a long way and will hopefully continue to do so!
      Cheers and all the best : )

    There's been an update to weight changes while in sim.
    While in a flight, you can now change weight settings without everything getting reset to whatever setting you loaded in with.
    You now have to press enter after changing weights.

    the game serves "weather radar data" to addon aircraft as flat bitmaps of the radar image, which obviously can't be edited, rather than actual data about rain/wind/turbulence which the addon could use to create realistic weather radar displays. unfortunately the flat bitmaps are very exaggerated, showing very minor rain/turbulence as red/purple patches of death. for this reason devs like FBW have simply disabled the whole hot mess in their addons until Asobo actually provide a proper weather API. it's been requested multiple times but, no joy yet.

      I'm afraid I don't have anything interesting to share really holobolo. The only sensitivity setting I have changed in my sim is the rudder sensitivity - the rest I have let as default. I agree that the sim is overly sensitive in general, but of course adjusting control curves comes at a cost. The rudder is the only control I just couldn't bear in its default state, so I knocked that back with a curve of -50.
      I'd consider making a video on the issue (although I'm not sure I'm the best man for the job on that one), but let's see what the state of the sim is like after SU9, as I believe more aerodynamics fixes are inbound then.

    An excellent overview of the update. I guess the thing is, when does one release a Sim? They could have held it over for another twelve months or so, and worked on it, leaving us with P3D and XPlane. Or, they could have done what they did, and I, for one, am glad. I've actually screamed at the bloody thing, but, overall, I think if not quite a masterpiece, it's one in the making. So much so, that it's now the only sim I have on my PC, and I'm wearing the loss of some wonderful aircraft in the other platforms as a result.

    • @IntotheBlueSimulations
      @IntotheBlueSimulations  2 роки тому

      Thanks very much John!
      Yes, it is an interesting conundrum and you always have to feel for devs; on the one hand they get flack for an unfinished product, on the other they get hounded to release.
      Generally speaking, I like to purchase and see a finished product, but I think Asobo made the right call releasing it when they did, given the events of the last couple of years (I don’t know whether that influenced their decisions or not). I think a lot of people have used the sim as a bit of an “escape” from reality, a conduit through which to “travel” and ultimately a way to have some decent fun at home.
      MSFS is still far from perfect and it’s a shame some of the foundational stuff still hasn’t been sorted (some people *still* getting constant CTD’s, not even being able to install the sim etc), but I very much enjoy it overall (at least for the GA stuff) and it is hard to go back to any other sim now. I fired up P3D today and found that quite out of the blue, all of my Orbx stuff had disappeared / uninstalled itself haha (it was working fine just a week ago). I briefly toyed with the idea of just uninstalling the whole sim, but I still use it for the occasional video - it’s living on borrowed time for sure though. . .
      I think the fact that PMDG sold record numbers of the DC-6 (and there have been similar other occurrences with other devs), proves the fact that MSFS is probably here to stay. Hopefully as result, it continues to be developed as we would wish to see it and this update gives me hope that will happen.
      Fingers crossed and all the best! : )

      Nope, other than downloading the sim update, there’s no need to do anything else on your end. As I say though, it’s only the 3 aircraft currently updated and even then, it’s only the prop physics that have been added (in other words, you may not notice a drastic change overall).
      That’s very strange re the CTD. I would have guessed mods might be the issue, but not by the sounds of it. I don’t know what else could be causing that then though I’m afraid. Have you tried restarting the sim since you installed the update?

    hey Captian! thank you for the review. I think there is no doubt that the sim is developing and going to the right direction. for me the SU8 made the FS run much smoother, and it does look somehow much better or flawless. and against other simulators we shouldn't forget that I'm able to run it on a 500€ XBOX in 4k. but what is for me the greatest fix coming with this update and it's bringing tears of happiness into my eyes (:D) is that the sensitivity settings of the HOTAS is finally saved after exiting the game. really, I don't mind any further CTDs, coz I don't need to set all 7 axis again after restarting! no more wishes, Asobo. Haha, that wasn’t even intentional Bernard, but I guess subconsciously my brain knows what’s going on XD
      I’m a big fan of the sim and I think Asobo have done some amazing work, but their quality control does seem to be haphazard at best. They end up chasing their tails and presumably creating a lot more work for themselves. I was pleased to see this update though, I know it hasn’t worked out for everybody (and that’s not ok), but just looking at the new physics etc, it’s great to see Asobo focusing on the sim for a change, as opposed to adding more content.
      As you say, they’ve done it to themselves. It’s been 18 months and the pattern seems to continue, there are still some fundamentals that need fixing as well. I don’t see how things are going to get fully on track, until Asobo sort things out. That being said, my hat goes off to them in terms of their engagement with the community etc. I think their hearts are in the right place.

      Yes, it’s a real shame we’re still seeing a lot of haphazard updates. I can’t really think of too many areas where we’ve seen significant progress and we’re now approaching 2 years into the lifespan of the sim. It’s a shame, because MSFS has so much potential (and is already a good sim), but at this rate we’ll be looking at decades of development to get the sim to where it needs to be. . .
