- Ratchet and Clank is a pretty large franchise, the games of which have already been released on 4 generations of consoles. I've always wanted to rank all these great games from worst to best, and now I've finally done it. Of course, this is just my opinion, and if yours differs, that's okay, but please don't get mad at me if your favorite game is lower on my list. If you have a different opinion, you can write your list in the comments.

That was the first Ratchet and Clank i played, i was like 7 years old. Never finished tho.
Now im 21, a friend got me a PS3, since i was "stuck" at the PS2 (which is the one that has the best games in my opinion), and im buying the Ratchet and Clank Collection for it, since it still has the Playstation Store and i can't find someone who has Ratchet and Clank for PS2 that i could buy. And if i find something is like for a big amount of money.
A crack in time is my first place, but rift apart is just behind it, noice list !

I absolutely love this franchise. My personal favorites is deadlocked and the trilogy. But right now my two favorites is Ratchet and clank ps2 and rift apart ps5

@@gold_gear Q Force is indeed the worst no doubt. Secret Agent Clank Size Matters and the remake especially I despise. My top 3 will be the original game UYA and Crack in Time. 4 and 5 tools going commando and 6 I think Rift Apart but they are all great. I dont hate All 4 One as much as most people and QFB Gladiator and Nexus are good but flawed.

I’ve been playing the 2016 game and I’m attempting to get 100% complete it. I almost forgot that this game is an adaptation of the movie from the same year so I understand why some might dislike it a bit.
I agree with GOLD GEAR that while the story and characterisation is bad, and a terrible departure from the original (game and series after that) the game play is a fantastic modernisation and polishing of the previous games in the series. My wife and I played it over and over to completion. It was simply fun to play. So much so, that it is relatively easy to ignore the story (perhaps imagine your own and/or dismiss as a Quark unreliable storyteller narrative) and just have fun with it.
I don't know how I would rank the games, but I expect R&C2016 to be fairly high as gameplay, and replayability, rank pretty high to me, over story.
Up Your Arsenal is the game I feel the most nostalgia for because it's the one that made me a Ratchet and Clank fan. Also Ratchet x Sasha forever!
My top3 favorites are crack in time, rift apart, tools of destruction and into the Nexus

@gold_gear narrative wise, the reboot would be much lower. (Probably just above Size Matters) but the graphical design and the gameplay are second ONLY to Rift Apart. If I were ranking on gameplay alone, Rift Apart would sit at the top no questions asked. But these rankings take everything into account - gameplay, soundtrack, graphics and art, and story and writing.

While this list is very different from my own its a solid list and huge respect for having the guts to put Rift Apart at the top. I feel like a lot of people will get upset when you really like new things these days lol but Rift Apart has become at least tied for the number one spot for me with Going Commando if not surpassing it in my eyes. The game never slows down and there isn't one single bad or mid planet in the game.

@@gold_gear no problem! I'll give a list of my top 5 but not really in any order since they shift around all the time. GC and RA are always at the top though.
Going Commando, Rift Apart, R&C 2001, A Crack in Time, Deadlocked (mostly because of the game's co-op, its the only one that did a good job of that imo)
Of the original ps2 platformers, I’ve spent most time on Sly Cooper. Never played Ratchet and Clank, but was always interested in it. Is it still worth playing today as a newbie? Where should I start? Is it worth playing the originals if you don’t have nostalgia for them???
You can start from original game, because it still hold ups perfectly! So i recommend playing in it in the chronological order.
But, if you prefer newer games with better graphics and controls, then you can play Rift Apart. You'll miss a lot of references and other stuff, but the game pretty much stands on its own.
Same I’m coming from Sly cooper trilogy to finally go back and finish a ratchet game that is not Ratchet:Deadlocked. I’m going to play the original Ratchet and Clank ps2 and A crack in time to get back into the series
Almost forgot to mention almost all of the games are available in HD/remaster on ps plus premium so you don’t have to have a ps2 or ps3 to play them

Like ToD, but the balancing near the end and challenge does leave some things to be desired. Also I put Going Commando in three cause I loved the gameplay it introduced (It was my first PS2 game). 2002 at 4 for it being a solid fun time with some cluckiness holding it back, but still a blast to play. Up Your Arsenal is great in everything expect the levels.

before Rift apart the franchise just existed and I didn't care.
but now I'm looking forward to the future👍

The story and voice acting in rift apart is not my favorite but my god is it fun I beat it three times back to back to back after first buying it
Personally, I like the plot and voice acting in this game. Emperor Nefarius is especially great! But everyone has their own preferences :D I'm glad we came to the same conclusion that the game is fun!

Size matters was my introduction to the series which is a weird way to start as the rest of the games were developed by insomniac and for context even the lowest game on my list secret agent clank i would still rate a 7.5/10 really just such a great franchise

@@gold_gear I've loved ratchet and clank since the release of the first one in 2002 and the one thing that I've always disliked about it was the clank levels. I couldn't play a game with clank as the main character
@@voidlegend2437 I get it, but to be fair, Clank's gameplay in his spin off game is pretty much like Ratchet's in the other games. He has weapons and gadgets etc.

Interesting list. I'm surprised to see ACiT so low, but glad that ToD got some love:)
Saying UYA is better than GC is so bs. UYA has less paths, less enemy variations, no grind rails, no ship battles and if you didnt notice the color and atmosphere of UYA is the most ugly in the trilogy. Even size matters feels much a RaC game than UYA. UYA = Overrated AF
I agree that UYA is less polished than GC, but it’s way more fun for me. I basically said everything important in the video.
By the way, I have a whole review of RaC 2 and RaC 3 is on the way too. So stay tuned!:)

Besides the graphics, Rift Apart has the most engaging fights and the biggest levels. But yes, there are still many things that developers can do in the future!
Idk I couldn’t play Rift apart over the story sucks , the music sucks , it don’t have that ratchet and clank feel the ps2 games had my top 3 are ratchet 3 , 1 and 2 deadlocked behind these
Well, everyone has their own point of view. I consider Rift Apart's story and soundtrack to be one of the best in the series, which is why it's in the first place. But the ps2 games are definitely great too!:)

@@sammcdaniel3257 I explained why I did it that way. In the case of RaC 2, I even have a whole retrospective on the channel where I talk about why I think the game is overrated. But despite that, I love it and I love all the games, but I think Rift Apart does a lot of things right and better than the others. The reboot is bad story-wise, but I like the gameplay and would want to play it more than most of the other games in the series.
So I stand by my opinion. If you disagree for some reason, that's fine, but next time try not to insult the creator and write more constructive comments.
