I can attest to how dangerous the segway can be. In 2015 I was riding an off-road version on gravel. I went to do a 180 from a stop and it spit me off the back of it. It held on to my foot and broke my tibia and fibia through the ankle. That ankle still gets sore and swollen to this day anytime I'm on my feet for extended time... Which is often. It was fun while it lasted though. If it hadnt been for the oversize tires and exocage I would have just busted my as$ and been fine.
The Segway was an expensive dorky machine. Out of that awful self-balancing wheel mess emerged what is today the coolest way to travel around - the EUC.
Again, even if it wasn't kept secret c'mon.. who the hell would wanna ride those things. People have bigger things to worry about. Also It would have never replaced cars. Cars are comfortable and beautiful they're a status symbol for many. I think the inventor lost touch with reality. He was already rich and successful with his other inventions and that I think made him over confident thinking that people would go get them in a heartbeat. What a major let down.. lol
The cops had them in NC. It was a joke! And it wastes power and is against climate change because it uses power when you could run, walk, or ride a mechanicle bike.
