I watched this in California USA, I usually cheer for NZ or Australia if they play another country besides my home countries (Fiji/Tonga), but on this day I was praying for South Africa to win!
@@theephraimite What's wrong with mixing sport and politics? The Rugby World Cup in 1995 brought South Africans of all different colours and cultures together to get behind their team. To this day the Springboks remain a source of national pride and South Africans all unite to support them when they're playing. Sport is a powerful political tool!
When the politician cheats in an international sporting competition, it is a disaster. This World Cup is a sporting disaster. Referee officially bought, team deliberately poisoned....
South Africa should host a world cup bug it won't happen soon. The next is in France, 2027 is back to Australia and 2031 is in the USA. 2035 may be but that is more than a decade away

The shirts and shorts were cotton, the players mostly still real amateurs. No ads to speak of on the shirts. Unfortunately some law changes a few years earlier had already set the stage for the ruin of this game.
I forgot how brutal rugby was before all the smart safety changes! Excellent watch, thanks WR!
3:38 can't stop laughing at that guy on bottom right who got his cap snatched lol
I was 10 years old watching this from my parents home in Pretoria. It’s a good memory.
1:28:55 young Japie Mulder cutting down the legendary Campese behind the advantage line 🤘
The opening game of the 1995 rugby world cup. Australia were the favourites over the hosts because they're the defending champions 4 years prior
Can you please upload more of the 1995 Rugby World Cup ? this tournament is historic

That intro cover was from rwc semi final #1 at Twickenham in 1999
It is disappointing that South Africa does not get to host another RWC. 1995 is too long ago!
Good job with the thumbnail...
Such great memories
The boks seemed like Jack Russel Terriers the whole time - tackling, on-the-ball, busy, running, gathering, attacking...
It was my Gr 12 (Std 10) year. Remember my friend and I were selling those plastic WC hats outside Ellispark.
The best rugby world cup hands down. It wasn't just a sporting event, it was political
It’s not good to mix politics and sports. So no, it’s not the best.

1:03:35 where's the TMO when you need him!
When Australia were a true rugby global power.
England cut our rugby balls off in 2003. We got them back briefly in 2015, but it was a temporary illusion.
Ah beautiful flags here and there, memories of a once functioning country.
Are you talking about those racist flags

Where did the line-out go wrong, was it Dalton or is it more complicated than that?
Looked a timing issue - watch Auz line out, jump the throw, Boks threw and jumped
Anthem is different from now!
Jissis that was a lekker day
Fiji genial
Why's the jerseys so oversized for the Boks?
It was just the way it looked In😊 95
Thumb nail is from 1999 tho 🙈
They surely did not care about winning any lineouts. defence was so good.
That's a good wallaby side boks did so well to beat then
Such great memories. Not enough shots of Madiba in the crowd!
Richard Wilcock ... Madiba??? Y ??? Show more of South Africa's beauty ... not its corrupt underbelly!!
