  • This is our 3rd reaction video. We keep wanting to look at other "symphonic metal" groups but cant seem to get away from Nightwish! This was suggested by Gabriel from the comments on our first video. Amazing band, we hope you will enjoy.
Note, the beginning freezes for just a second and then after the video during the comments it freezes briefly again. Will try and fix that as soon as we figure out whats going on.
    Enjoy! We sure did #nightwish #nightwishreaction #floorjansen #floorjansenreaction #tuomasholopainen #suesueandthewolfman

Regarding studio versions…just keep a couple of things in mind. First, this band simply shines live…their studio stuff is great, but live is where it’s at. Secondly, Floor is their third vocalist and has only recorded two studio albums with them, so far, so a lot of their songs (ALL of them from the Wacken 2013 show) were originally recorded with one of the two previous vocalists. Nothing wrong with either of them, but just know that those studio recordings are going to sound VERY different. I, too, recommend checking out Floor’s personal YT channel…not just for her cover songs, but she also posts videos of her daily life, answers fans’ questions, interviews friends, etc. You can really get a sense of who she is there. And yes, she really CAN sing, literally, ANYTHING.

As a youngster being exposed to greats like Led Zeppelin Deep Purple Heart ACDC Judas Priest and Metallica just to name a few, I can personally vouch that I have never been so emotionally affected by music as Nightwish and obviously Floor Jansen. Great reaction guys

Wow, that list sounds like what I had on my record player back in the day. Love rush Zepplin Judas Priest today I’m just a few. My parents hated it :-) but definitely NightWish feels that void that I have in my music these days. One of the greatest Burns we’ve discovered in a long time. Thanks for watching.

Amy is amazing. However, Floor has operatic and musical theater training and can sing almost any style she chooses. See you both again very soon. The depression was caused by the firing of the 1st vocalist, Tarja Turunen. She was and still is the beloved original Nightwish vocalist. after this incident Tuomas felt he had lost his musical dream and was severely depressed and ridiculed by the media and his fans for dismissing Traja from Nightwish. You will experience some of the music this episode inspired him to write. Some of it very angry and some very emotionally packed with drama and grief. Thankfully this is behind now and they all love performing and each other. Smiles and fun rule the day and the night.

Please skip the official videos - Nightwish is a live band, possibly the greatest in this decade. When Tuomas writes / composes his music, it's meant to be live experiences, that takes you on a journey. And this includes the pyrotechnics, fireworks, pictures and film clips they uses.
And there are concert videos from almost all their songs - except from their newest album Human Nature - but it's too soon for this album yet.
And don't worry - you haven't seen any of the epic masterpieces yet - like the journey through a deep personal depression "The Poet and the Pendulum" - or "The Greatest Show on Earth", about the evolution of the Earth. And it is also too early for those.
But you could consider doing another one, showing more of Floor's techniques - from a newer concert in Buenos Aires 2018
"Dead Boy's Poem" - it has also become a masterpiece, after Floor gave it her own color.

You guys are doing great for just starting out, liked and subbed for your Nightwish Journey. I discovered this band and Floor 2 years ago, and they are amazing. She can sing anything, best lead vocalist I have ever seen/heard, and the band they are the very tops of their game. I am 54 and grew up listening to some of the greats, like you guys, these folks are special, you will see. Nightwish Army Georgia Division checking in. Prepare to be amazed, and every song a new story.

I think I missed your 2nd...I'll find it!
This is a great song...the drumming is fantastic! The drummer here is Kai Hahto, formerly of Wintersun. He is one of the greatest technicians of a generation!
The reason some ppl get ruffled by an Evanescence comparison, is that Nightwish was established in the early 90s. And as talented as Amy Lee is, Floor Jansen (pron:YAWN-Sehn) is quite simply...extraordinarily talented, far surpassing her peers.
Nightwish, and The Army, are big animal lovers! Your BooBoo is a welcome cameo anytime!
I too, began watching reactions to soothe depression. It's the lift you get from watching another discover and enjoy music that makes you happy!
The philosophy of this band, it's fans, is one of sharing more empathy, humanity and kindness. And of realizing how lucky we are to be able to come together on this Earth, united in peace and joy!

The Concept Tuomas and Tarja the original singer was this Metal symphonic music with this Etherial Opera vocals. The Second singer was more Pop and i don't believe reached the sort of power vocal levels that Nightwish prefered she was still a great singer. But Floor is something else. Trained in theatre and is an empath she knows how to connect with emotions and understands just what Tuomas requires for each song. She is also trained in Opera and went to a school that teaches in Heavy Metal. She can sing rock check out Northward. Has done many Opera songs including Christmas songs and has featured with many other bands like Epica and Ayreon to name a few. Floor has performed songs on the Beste Zangers ( Best Singers ) and has performed many cover songs singing in Pop, Rock, ballads. She was 16 when she started with the band After forever then she was in Revamp before she joined Nightwish. Thank you for another great reaction enjoy.

Tuomas plays all KORG synths - His left tilted keyboard is the KORG Karma, Top mounted is the KORG N364 and the bottom mounted is the KORG Kronos. He previously used Tritons and TRs as well. In studio he uses the KORG Oasys :)

    • @jeffhoffman8370
      @jeffhoffman8370 2 роки тому

Thank you for that because I couldn’t tell from the video which he was playing. I have played Cork products over the years. The first core guy owned was in the early 80s that it was a Korg Delta. Loved it
I had a Kronos for a long time but it got too heavy to carry the gigs so I sold it. I did notice on this last video we did from Buenos Aires in 2019 he was playing a Yamaha keyboard on top. And that’s what I went to. I went to the Yamaha montage. Which I love. But I have been known to buy and sell gear at a breakneck pace! Just ask my bride. Thanks for the information I love it.

This is an old NW song, I think they added it to the setlist of this tour as the subject fits the last 2 albums of the band: the universe, earth, evolution and us. Tragedienne of heavens is the earth (as it is full of tragedies, evolution being maybe the biggest non stop tragedy)
    Tragedienne of heavens (earth)
Watching the eyes of the night (the stars)
Sailing the virgin oceans (earth sailing through empty space)
A Planetride for Mother and Child (earth and moon)
Thomas knows something about the history of astronomy: "Following the pages of Almagest"
(Wikipedia) The Almagest is a 2nd-century Greek-language mathematical and astronomical treatise on the apparent motions of the stars and planetary paths, written by Claudius Ptolemy (c. AD 100 - c. 170). One of the most influential scientific texts in history.
Enjoy your journey, and please follow the road map Gabriel gave you and do not forget Gandalf's words before leaving the hobbits at the edge of Mirkwood:
"Be good, take care of yourselves-and DON'T LEAVE THE PATH!"

Thank you for your honest and 'real' reaction - it's a genuine joy 🙂. If you are looking for another slightly different form of the metal symphonic subgenre may I humbly suggest Ayreon. This is a project by the Dutch maestro Arjen Anthony Lucassen. There are lots of live videos of Ayreon to have a go at but may I suggest "The Day that the World Breaks Down" official video - Arjen is a multi instrumentalist and composer (he loves his analogue synths and keyboards !) and this song has 11 (yes, 11!!) singers, each playing a character in a story. If you love Rush, I think you would love Ayreon. Good luck with the channel !!

This whole concert, in 2015, is almost as good as Wacken in my opinion. Wembley the same year also.
    Buenos Aires too :
Dead Boys poem, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean, Slaying the Dreamer....
Basically, you can't go wrong with a live Nightwish concert.
Note there is also a return to Wacken 5 years later in 2018 as part of the Decades tour.
Floor can growl and I know she gets down to around C3 . At her high end, she seems to favour somewhere around d6 but I'm sure I've heard her go to f6.

    you hear that a lot.

aah , next day next song , i like :)
i specially like that you don´t go step by step down the list of Gabriel ... who is your guide ? SAM! Thanks! Good work !!
i recommend just jump around the 4 liveshows, lots of stuff ,BUT :
"the poet and the pendulum" and "the greatest show on earth" should be saved for later, and listened not before Nightwish doesn´t surprise you anymore ! you won´t regret !!
another suggestion is to listen to the first song of the first album 1997, it is "Elvenpath". They brought it on stage for the "Decades Tour", and filmed it in 2018 with an intro which highlights the abilities of the "new" members, it´s called "Elvenjig/Elvenpath" live Buenos Aires 2018

Thank you so much! Yes we are very off the path a little bit but we feel like we will always come home tonight wish. Some of the suggestions have been fantastic however and we love Sabaton! My buddy Sam does give me a whole lot of direction in guidance and it’s all turned out to be very good advice! If you watch her latest video we show a song from NightWish in Buenos Aires in 2019. I have to say is the best one we’ve done so far because of the song is amazing and the crowd is amazing. Thanks for sticking with us!

@@jeffhoffman8370 there is no "path" to follow ! for real Nightwish fans, you can´t pick a wrong song
But be warned, there are many bad videos out in youtube, they are slowed down and/or wrong pitched. To prevail this, Gabriel Bardac created the link-library which is posted in the first reaction (GLS)
this aren´t sponsored links or any other thing, it is "just" a collection of good youtube videos.mostly they are the official videos by nightwish or its members and they aren´t copyrighted, but sometimes the youtube AI doesn´t get it, so you have to write to them to unlock the block...
When a song is picked for whatever is the reason, go to that library and pick the link.
      have fun !

@@jeffhoffman8370 iam only a mere pupil of the Maestro i spend a big part of the passed 15 years to get "into the mind" of Tuomas as iam also the guy who has to rearrange some nightwish songs so they fit our technical abilitys
i would love to get my hands on a Kronos i actuall use the same Setup on stage as Tuomas in the "end of an Area" DVD so N364, Krama and Triton Pro

@@goesman81 You have a great rig!! I understand authenticity. But until you can afford it, I'm confident no one who sees your band even knows. it not an exact rig.!
I owned a Triton Pro 76 for years. I think that board has one of the best Leslie simulators available and the Hammond patches are great! The synth leads were also great for live playing. It was loaded. I sold it and my Motif 8 and bought a Montage 76. It was quite expensive and I'm a little disappointed. I don't feel the sounds are quite the same, but it's supposed to be a combi of the Triton, Motif and the Karma. Honestly it has more bells and whistles than I'll ever use.
I sold my Korg Kronos 73 recently and honestly glad I did. I bought it because it was cheaper and a little lighter than the 88. The issue I had after I got it was that with the weighted keys it was hard to play some parts necessary for the 80's cover band, I was in. Also, I thought it would be good to play at church and again a little lighter than 88 keys. It wasn't.! for some reason my brain had a lot of trouble with the 15 keys missing. I didn't like how it played. It's silly I know; you seldom use the keys from those registers, but I couldn't get past it. I used it for a few years and then sold it. I was hauling around three keyboards and they were all heavy. The band encouraged me to program the songs for two boards, but I'm lazy!
I got ill earlier this year and have not been playing. I have been asked to sit in for an outdoor gig with some locals, I'll probably do that.
Sorry, this is so long! I'm a gear head and could talk about it all day! It's awesome hearing from you. Take care.

      another thing for the gearhead:
Tuomas writes/Composes all of the songs on an Korg Oasis Workstation
my rig actually authentic, but not for Tuomas actuall setup (N364,Kronos and Karama) but for the 2004 Once Album and End of an Era DVD
we strive for as Mutch Authenticity as possible my avatar is actually not Tuomas but me in Stage Costume basically "cosplaying" Tuomas, as we want to give a most authentic impression on stage as we can, so then NW Fans in our Area can basically get as Close to a real Nightwish show as possible

    Ah..all three listening;)
Anyone told the Gent, he got some similarity with George Lucas, when his Glasses are on?
OK, you choose an very old Classic, therefore the operatic Style is much more present. Rush/ Metallica were also Influences Tuomas followed by own mention.
And Yes, they are Famous for enjoying themselves on STage and really want the Crowd acting as another Instrument on many if not all Songs, the Prog/themed ones apart.
    Stay Healthy.
PS. didnt take an look this vid, but is there an Channel Description on now:)?
Do as you like, but the more transparent and informational you build it up, the more ppl would like to stay and give recommendations etc;)

I had another person comment and say he thought he was looking at a George Lucas reaction channel! I haven’t gotten that comparison but I’ll take it :-) I’m not sure about the description other than what I post every time a really some video. We will do Nightwish but also will do some others in the future so I’m not sure we can be described as just a NightWish reaction channel. I’m not sure what you meant but if that’s not what you meant let me know. And thank you very much again
