In this video Canadian Guitarist/producer Dean Wolfe reacts to アナメイン @ 森、道、市場 Tricot Live in concert.
From Discogs: “Tricot is a Japanese alternative rock band formed in Kyoto on September 1, 2010. The name is transliterated in Japanese asトリコ, 'toriko.' It is pronounced "tree-ko" after a French word for a type of knitting.
The band founding members are Ikkyu Nakajima (vocals / guitar), Motoko “Motifour” Kida (guitar / backing vocals), and Hiromi “Hirohiro” Sagane (bass / backing vocals). Drummer Kazutaka Komaki joined in May 2011, when they established their own label, Bakuretsu Records.”
A LITTLE ABOUT ME: I'm Dean Wolfe, a mostly self-taught Canadian guitarist/composer/multi-instrumentalist/singer/producer/performer. I started out as a full time musician on the road at age 17 for two years, but went part-time ever since while holding day careers including as a chef and in spiritual health care while raising a family.
I've recorded hundreds of my own songs- many being used in media and award winning documentaries etc. I've been in several bands including a prog/jazz fusion act nFuze, performing in International Jazz festivals and jazz clubs. I abandoned the prog genre more or less back in the 1990s but have returned to it now with vigour a full 30 years later- so much prog I've ignored and quite frankly didn't have any idea about. My own prog band was rejected by record labels as "too progressive' in the late 80s, so i detoured into grunge, pop and alternative instead (then folk and acoustic fingerstyle guitar and ambient electric as well).

Love this band. Recently bought all their albums. Haven't a clue what they are singing but great melodies.

If you would like more japanese math rock I would love it if you reacted to "paranoid void - 美しい孤独 "

    “Tree-koh.” Tricot a kind of fabric/yarn.
Tricot, the band, have many other songs worth checking out.
It seems you haven’t reacted to any Japanese bands since this one. Black Hole might be BAND-MAID’s most progressive song. See a live performance on the “Manners/Black Hole” double-header video.

Tricot is pronounced Tree-koh. It's a French word for a type of fabric. I think for this song they deliberately made the chorus simple with no words, so the audience could sing along. They have some songs with more complicated rhythms. "Wabi-Sabi" has a 21-beat pattern. "DeDeDe" also has tricky rhythms. They have some "How to play 'DeDeDe'" videos on their webiste, which show the guitar, bass and drums in isolation as they play along with the track.

Their name is pronounced "To-ri-co", coming from the Japanese word for captive. The French knitting thing is a complete red herring, and completely coincidental :-)

Means stuck in a small french sweater perhaps

@@neilonaniet quite the opposite. Their original name (and the name they always use) is tricot. Torico (トリコ) is the adaptation of tricot to japanese characters. But they barely use it. I'm sure they knew tricot was a type of fabric.

Nice reaction. You should check out the Japanese prog rock band Ars Nova. Listen to their song Morgan, performed live in 1997. They are pretty damn good.

I recommend Genie High, another project of Ikumi "Ikkyu" Nakajima, the leader of Tircot (vocal, rhythm guitar). ua-cam.com/video/OHlAltJ2b_w/v-deo.html
