  • Day 2 of our fishing adventure to the far north of New Zealand, where today we target deep sea fish particularly Hapuka, Grouper, Bass and Blue Nose. All great table fish we do hope to be successful at bringing some fish home for the table.
I was committed to slow pitch jigging deep water and had 500+ meters of PE6 braid on my reel, ready to pitch all day, we set off for an amazing day. As you will see the deep-sea fishing was great, but then we crossed paths with an amazing spectacle of fish feeding on the surface. Although I could have continued to do slow pitch jigging, there is nothing like a surface eat from a big angry yellow tail kingfish. As you will see the day ends with some amazing things, you will need to subscribe and hit the notifications bell to be sure not to miss the next episode of some amazing top water fishing action.
Bit of description below of the gear I was using.
    Deep slow pitch jigging heavy
Rod : PE 4-8 Adrenalin deep game Oceans Legacy
    Reel : Everol VJ20 jigging
    Line : 500+mtr PE 6
    Deep slow pitch jigging light
Rod : Long fall PE 0.8-2.0 Oceans Legacy
Reel : Prototype hi speed(unable to elaborate more)
    Line : 500+mtr PE 2
    Top water
Rod : Agressor plugging PE 6 Oceans Legacy
Reel : Shimano twin power 14000
    Line : Tasline PE 6
I had the pleasure of riding aboard a 9mtr RIB built by Smuggler marine and with 500hp on the back we have capability to head off shore fishing.

@@flynnvangemmert4973 😂 yeah bro. Lots of learnings aye. I should have left the rubber cap on the rod and had it in the bucket of gimbal instead. Enable the rod to twist a little. 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

try not to let the electric reels get covered in salt spray. bad for them... cover them till ya ready to use them. saves 150 bucks to service them...

Cheers bro. Although things are made to use in the salt, it doesn’t mean they’re made for salt 👌🏽

@@otklfnz this is from shimano and dawia reps. salt water spray gets forced into the reel when zooming along. and as you know salt never sleeps.. it just grows. and causes damage.. just to look at the reel is 150 bucks.. per reel. less parts. i have the dawia 1200 and have a 80 wide neroprane cover on it.. good gear costs lots these days... im heading to white island next month. hope the fish are biting...
