Hi Guy I Like the way you show, and explain how to do thing's. I need you bad to help me on thid 47 styled A, similar to the 630. My pedal's are all stuck, So Im thinking that i could get away with removing the cover and see if thier just stuck at the adjuster's, If the lining;s are worn then ill do as you did on the 630,.
Great series. I'm very unlikely to ever do this job but if I come across someone who has it to do I know where the video manual is. Best Wishes, Brendan
I wish the brakes on my 49 8N were as easy. i suppose this was an improvement over that design. The early Fords were bad about hydraulic fluid leaking past the axle seal into the brakes.
redoing a pair of brakes on a jd Ar not as easy to access as those ones. had to fight them all the way off and even getting them apart was quite the challenge.
3 months ago, I did a brake job on my 1951 8n. I considered doing a video, but the views in the JD video were so low that I passed on it. OPPORTUNITY LOST.
I have a late model '47 B. Looking at my brake housings there is no nut on the outside of the housing. It looks as though you would need a spanner wrench to remove the housing. Anyone have an idea?
When you pull the assembly from the tractor there may be a cotter key and nut that holds the gear on the shaft. Remove those and the drum and shaft come out as one.
Great video series on brakes
Thanks
Yay! You installed it back on the tractor! I think the right side is harder - or impossible so far. 😁
Thanks. I checked out your awesome propane 70.
Good video a credit to those old Deere's so easy to work on did the brakes on my 39 A in no time no fuss with the minimum of basics tools
