Really enjoyed this! So happy you included 'The English Patient', the chemistry is scorching. And love the blushing in 'The Sound of Music'. ❤ I've always loved the high school dance in 'Angus'
I love the idea for this list and I love most of the choices. A couple of others that I would love to have seen here: Kelly McGillis and Harrison Ford's dance in "Witness;" Pierce Brosnan and Renee Russo's dance in "The Thomas Crown Affair." I see several people have mentioned "Shall We Dance" from "The King and I." IMO, Jodie Foster and Chow Yun-Fat's dances, especially the final one at the end of "Anna and the King" are also VERY worthy.
Loved it. I was, however, waiting for "Dancing in the Dark" with Fred Astaire and Cyd Charisse in "The Band Wagon." The two are performers who have to work together, but they've been at each other's throats for the whole picture. They realize they have to get away from the stress of rehearsals, so they go for a walk in Central Park. Somewhere a band is playing--they respond to the music, and then to each other, and the dance that develops could almost be an improvisation.
*MY FAVORITES:* "So Close" - Enchanted Dancing in the Street - The Notebook "Dance at the Gym" - West Side Story "(I've Had) The Time of My Life" - Dirty Dancing "Your Song" - Moulin Rouge! The Landler - The Sound of Music "Can I Have This Dance" - High School Musical 3: Senior Year "So This is Love" - Cinderella "Cheek to Cheek" - Top Hat "You Were Meant For Me" - Singin' in the Rain "You're the One That I Want" - Grease A Real Party - Titanic The Long-Awaited Dance - Avengers: Endgame "They're All Looking at You" - Cinderella Tango at the Bistro - Addams Family Values "Beauty and the Beast" - Beauty and the Beast "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps" - Strictly Ballroom
So glad you included “The Sound of Music,” my all-time favorite movie and dance scene, although I can’t disagree with the number one pick. Also love that you included “The Horse Whisperer” and “Love Actually.”
Yul Brynner and Deborah Kerr in The King and I. Also, Frank Langella and Kate Nelligan in the movie Dracula. One more- Jeremy Northam and Gwyneth Paltrow as they dance the last dance at a ball in Emma. (it's a slow, stately dance)
How could you have left out The Candle Waltz from "Crimson Peak"? Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska danced ever so divinely together that the candle they were holding kept burning. It was perfect for this list.
Which dance scene made you swoon in your seat? Let us know below, and check out our video of the Top 20 Greatest Romantic Period Films: ua-cam.com/video/skHhsbxeeYI/v-deo.html
Scott & Fran from Strictly ballroom should be higher on your list, and all the dances that shrieked adultery felt distasteful, the disloyalty took away from any romance that they displaced, I did like the top 3
This was so fun to watch, there all amazing. I agree with #1 being Dirty Dancing how sensuous. Then I loved Pride & Prejudice. There was a dance where they were focused on only each other and there was no one else in the room I remember.
So glad you had The Sound of Music dance scene. I would add the Aaron Johnson and Keira Knightly scene from Anna Karenina and the Lily James dance scene from Cinderella
If you don't have The King And I in this sequence, I quit. There is a moment when the King and Mrs. Anna stop dancing. He says "Come, we do it again!" Sexiest moment of cinema! ❤
Captains dance with Peggy made me tear up when I saw the movie! BEAUTIFUL! Kate and Leopold is one of only Romcoms I like and that was a perfect scene, as well as the scene in Titanic - BUT The fact you left out Crimson Peak's candle dance waltz is unforgivable!
I know me and my girlfriend will have our dance scene in our wedding. In the meantime, have a happy tuesday morning Ms Mojo, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
Dirty Dancing most definitely....but if you put "Shall We Dance" with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez, that would win hands down.....THAT DANCE MAKES ME SQUIRM!!!
Watching this left a smile on my face!!! Loved it!!! Another dance I love watching is from the Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Cinderella" movie , with Leslie Ann Warren & Stuart Damon dancing at the ball!!!
Loved that you included Tony and Maria's dance in the gym. I would have included the garage dance between Harrison Ford and Kelli McGillis in Witness. Oh, and for a fund dance that makes me laugh, I would add the contest dance at the end of Silver Linings Playbook.
In American Graffiti the “Snowball Dance” in the gymnasium becomes a heart-wrenching verbal exchange of emotion between the characters played by Ron Howard and Cindy Williams. In Brooklyn, the slow dance of the heroine and her “date” back in the old country is riveting as the sparkles highlighting the slow rotation of the camera weaves a spell. Can’t get more romantic than that!
I’m shocked that “You Were Meant For Me” from Singin In The Rain is only 16th place! To be honest, I have never seen a more romantic dance scene before or since! Gene Kelly and Debbie Reynolds are unmatched in my eyes! The greatest musical of all time also has the most romantic dance scene of all time 😍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Where is Enchanted at? Patrick Dempsey and Amy Adams dancing to So Close is perfection. And, Zendaya and Zac Efron dancing to Rewrite the Stars in The Greatest Showman is full of sexual tension.
I always think of Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas dancing in Romancing the Stone. Also, another vote for Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr in The King and I.
I think that pride and prejudice should have made the top 10 also shall we dance and the greatest show man should have also been on this dance list other than that good list
For Sound of Music, CP and JA never hated each other...they were close friends right up until CP's death. They did a live production of On Golden Pond on CBS back in the early 2000s. They did interviews together on major anniversaries for TSOM. He attended a tribute function held in JA's honor (the Ella Awards in 2001) and surprised her on her closing night of Victor/Victoria on Broadway in 1996/97 (he was doing Barrymore in a theatre really close to, or even right next to the theatre she was in). CP was nothing but a gushing fan boy of hers in his memoir In Spite of Myself and countless interviews. He always praised JA for carrying the movie, and she has always expressed gratitude towards the guidance he provided her in some scenes. JA always has fond memories of filming the gazebo scene because they both got the giggles and couldn't stop and then were gently reprimanded like two children by the director. Her husband Blake Edwards directed CP in The Return of The Pink Panther. JA and CP have met up any chance they got along with their spouses whenever they were in Europe or the US
I think the reference is from at least one interview I saw w CP wherein he said something to the effect that TSOM was the worst film he had ever been in or the perhaps the one he most regretted doing. I don’t recall the exact quote - just that I was completely floored and so horrified to hear that about a film I had loved since I was a child and I had come to appreciate the love scenes as I got older. I always thought their chemistry was perfect and while the actual world events were quite awful (British understatement) the film on the whole was so captivating that I could have cried after seeing that interview. As I say, I can’t recall the exact words, but he made it appear like the worst mistake in His life and I remain unhappy to this day that I ever saw that interview at all.
@@prosen8966 that's different from the poster saying that he and JA didn't like each other. It's quite well known he had a difficult relationship with the movie - it was kind of a love/hate thing. But he definitely mellowed over the years. I wouldn't say he made complete piece with it but he certainly grew to appreciate it more for what it was and what it's meant to fans. I saw the Oscar nominees interview from 2012 where he was asked which of his roles was the most difficult to play and he said straight out Captain Von Trapp, but he didn't say he hated it. He and the screenwriter did spend time making changes to the original script because the character in its original form was quite dull and one dimensional. I think I'd compare CP's feelings to those of Richard Gere towards HIS role in Pretty Woman - RG said something along the lines of Edward being a suite. You could put anyone in that role and it wouldn't matter (Julia Roberts was in that interview and vehemently disagreed with him, as do all PW fans). And don't forget, CP could be kind of mercurial at times when asked about TSOM - I think he didn't want to be remembered just for that role, and struggled to come out from under its shadow for a while. Read his memoirs and you'll see he doesn't outright hate the film, it's more love/hate. He talks about the experience quite extensively. And check out interviews he did as he got older - he definitely became softer towards it. He did a lot of interviews on just TSOM, like for anniversaries, documentaries, retrospectives etc.
@@1Bornconfused All I said is ‘perhaps the poster got that notion from’ and then named an interview I personally saw where, regardless of what you say, he was quite vehement about disliking the role. No ‘Shall we dance’ from The King and I ? That was so much fun.
My absolute favorite!
I was just going to say this one. Talk about intense!
Amen!
He looks at her and says "Come, we do it again!" And his arm is around her waist to pull her in towards him. To die for! 😅❤😊💋
My favorite is the dance scene at the party in The Sound of Music between the Captain and Maria.
Dance scene from the Picnic with Kim Novak and William Holden is mesmerizing!
The English Patient!! How he looks at her as they dance for the first time!!! ❤
The "Shall We Dance" scene in the "King and I" had some romantic chemistry in it, even though it was an energetic dance.
Keira Knightly as Anna dancing with Vronsky in Anna Karenina. The ball scene was terrific.
PICNIC BLOWS IT OUT OF THE WATER
The rooftop dance in Kate and Leopold is my favorite romantic dance moment.😊😊🤟🏾🥰❤❤❤❤❤
I Adore Kate and Leo!

You missed the dance of the widow Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the wind 😮 that’s iconic, one of the bests

The best one, the most romantic one, the iconic one...GWTW where Rhett & Scarlett dance and he tells her someday you will say to me ...I love you.
The dance among the stars in La La Land is so good! They have such excellent chemistry!
The dance scene in the barn in Witness with Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis could definitely be on the list.
I thought the best scene was Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth dancing in pride and Prejudice that scene is the best part of the movie.
That’s one of my fave dance scenes in a movie ever!

I would have thought “Shall We Dance” with Kerr and Brynner might have figured highly.
I was just thinking the same thing. It should have been in the top 10.
Missed Picnic. My favorite.
Ohhhh is true, that’s pure chemistry

I absolutely agree with the picks... but I have to say that I was also hoping to see Anna Karenina and County Vronsky in this list!

Luke and Lorelei dancing at his sister's wedding to Sam Phillips' Reflecting Light.

Picnic. Bill Holden and Kim Novak.

The dance scene with Kim Novak and William Holden in Picnic is still No.1 for me. I would put Baby and Johnny second.
The most famous dance in film history is Kim Novak and Bill Holden in PICNIC.
So glad you had The Sound of Music dance scene. I would add the Aaron Johnson and Keira Knightly scene from Anna Karenina and the Lily James dance scene from Cinderella
The dance scene with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock in "The Lake House" should have been on here. Those two have unmistakable chemistry.

Gary Cooper and Audrey Hepburn in "Love in the Afternoon"
Pride and Prejudice, 1995 should be here :P

See above. Can you read?
Where's the dance at the gym from West Side Story? That's one of the most romantic dance scenes ever filmed
BEAUTY AND THE BEAST SHOULD’VE BEEN NUMBER 1 🥀
That number being left out of this list is just straight up wrong.
The end of Avengers Endgame was romantic with Steve and Peggy finally have their dance
I cried happily, when they danced!
I wondered if anyone was going to mention that scene in Romancing the Stone. I believe the two leads improvised it.
What about the dance scene in Enchanted? It's the most romantic for me.
Most romantic dance scene - Luciana Pedraza and Robert Duvall's very short tango in that terrible movie Assassination Tango. They were magnificent!
I am glad that dirty dancing is on this list. I will never forget this movie.
Actually, the most romantic dance was missed here. It should have been William Holden and Kim Novak dancing to Picnic/Moonglow in movie Picnic.
Agreed
Absolutely!
I think that pride and prejudice should have made the top 10 also shall we dance and the greatest show man should have also been on this dance list other than that good list
I loved the Disney 2015 live Cinderella ball scene - especially when done with the Eugen Doga “waltz of Love
Knew Dirty Dancing "I've had the Time of my Life" would be # 1
So glad you included Strictly Ballroom!
Oh, come on!!! Where's Al Pacino's tango in 'Scent of a woman"???
Great scene but it was not considered as a "romantic" move...memorable but not romantic.
The dance in Pride & Prejudice is good but I prefer the dance in 2020 Emma.
Frank Langella’s Dracula piercing gaze while spinning you around and around and around (1979)
The best Adams Family ever.
Shall we Dance with Richard Gere and Jennifer Lopez . Also Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner in The King and I!!!
I understand that Debbie Reynolds had no formal dance training when she was in 'Singing in the Rain'.
Scent of a woman, with Al Pacino dancing with a girl on a restaurant floor.
I love how awkward Meg Ryan is dancing with Hugh Jackman in Kate and Leopold. It's a cute moment that shows another side of Kate.
Beautiful people. Beautiful dancing. ❤
Don't forget "More than a Women" dance with Tony and Stephanie in Saturday Night Fever
The Bodyguard dance in the cafe
Love these !!❤❤
BEST DANCE KATE & LEOPOLD
You left out Emma and Knightly from Emma 2020! Good grief, the chemistry was thick!
Dirty Dancing is absolutely Top 1
Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift in 'A Place In The Sun'. Their dance scene was so tender and intimate that you feel like a voyeur watching it!
Okay someone tell me why "So Close" from Enchanted is not on this list.
Hope Floats also a lovely dance scene.
Ooh, that's a good one.
the dance scenes for sound of music and dirty dancing were exceptional….considering the actors didn’t like each other.

"The Auld Anzine Waltz" with Robert Taylor and Vivian Leigh in "Waterloo Bridge" 1941 is one of the most romantic dances in movie history.
Anne with an E - The Dashing White Sergeant (ok it's not a movie)
Goodbye Mr Chips - Blue Danube Waltz
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps absolutely definitely, heart in mouth time. ❤
