It's a big missed opportunity they didn't include the ability to stream from your home console. I have the Xbox app sideloaded for that, but it would have been nice to have an official solution.
What's the quality, latency, etc with the xbox app side loaded? I really don't want to have to pay for the monthly subscription to use game pass if i don't have to. I agree, missed opportunity here!
It's Xcloud, the same app that runs Xbox Game Pass on your phone. Streaming from your home console is only available on the PC Xbox app. The "sideloaded" Xbox app you used was for Xbox One and Rift, it no longer works on Quest.

@@acurisurYou can stream your console on phone app as well... Also Xcloud not available in all countries so when you travel or you live in non Xcloud country then at least streaming from console or PC is way to go, but since it doesn't have it then it's pointless app for these countries

Just like anyone with a Quest 2 would find a MR app for Quest 3 pointless. You just don't download those apps. As for why there's no Xcloud in some countries? No idea, your only option there is to ask Xbox support.
I set this up on Quest 2. Approving my gamepass account was a little clumsy with the 2fA requiring me to take the headset off for face recognition, which then caused the app to stop working. The controller setup process caused my hand controls to dissapear and I had to restart the headset. However, I did get it all working and.... WOW. really impressive. I tested Forza Motorsport and it seemed pretty responsive! I think this will work better with 30fps adventure games or turn based stuff but it all works, and well! Nice job MS/Meta
Great! Also, having the screen border or some other 3D game specific decoration like a funko on selected games would be neat. Perhaps even merchandise that temporarily appears on all rooms of a multiplayer session.
Ok, a bit unrelated, but. Gamepass has No Man’s sky. Gamepass is now on meta quest. No man’s sky already has vr modes for PC and PSVR. So bro, I really want them to make a version for Quest, at least quest 3.
I glad this popped on my feed! I've been checking almost everyday to see if it would be released! They didn't even make an announcement on the meta quest channel to let us know it's out which is really weird since they are partners.
IF u have problems with lag etc? Its actually YOUR connection. This thing works flawlessly with absolutely no lag whatsoever. And minimallatency...as long as you have a good connection.. the only problem that may arise is right at the beginning when ur setting up.. after that its smooth...so do not blame the app....ive played about 7 different games for a couple or few hours at each sitting and not once did a problem arise. Perfect!!
Great to see an official app. Looking forward to some new environments you can play in but also I do like the passthrough option. Would be nice to be able to pin your screen to a wall and also have the option of customizing your own display size including a flat screen and not curved . All improvements I'm sure are in the backlog.

It would be awesome if part of the Microsoft agreement would be to include on gamepass the Oculus PCVR games like Asgard's Wrath 1, Brass tactics, Stormland. And why not? A quest 3 and a xbox controller bundle to make a marketing statement.
You have to side load the Xbox app if you want remote play. This kinda sucks and I'm not sure why they won't allow remote play and only cloud streaming locking you into a sub. I have ultimate for the next few years paid but hopefully they will add it in the future.
Odd, I'm having the exact same controller issue you're having in the video. Problem is, i can't fix it like you did. I connect the controller in the xbox app, it connects but then it won't work in the app when i start a game. If i connect it outside the app, i shows the controller as found as well, but doesn't work when i launch a game.
@@cyberd3x193 it's working now. I noticed that once I paired it inside the Xbox app or Quest home, when I turned the controller off and back on, it wouldn't connect to the controller anymore. Not at all, like it wasn't paired at all. So what I did was forget the controller, pair it again and then without launching Xbox, turn the headset off and back on. Once I did that, turned on the controller and it connected to the headset. Then I launched Xbox app and it worked, first try.
I wonder if in the future you can play games that are regularly compatible with VR with Xbox cloud gaming. Like No mans sky instead of the screen it would be the full VR Game
I had the same issue what I had to do was unpair all the controllers that I tried and then reboot my quest 3 and then repair the controller and it worked great

I never could get my Xbox series x controller to pair. Looks like the issue happened to you that I had but you went through the pair and it worked. For me it just lost connection over and over

Great, I'm very happy with it. I sometimes play Play Station games flat on the PSVR2 and I always love the experience. Being able to also do it on the Quest with the games from xBox Game Pass ultimate is very good
Mine did that with the controller too. Too fix it, I went into settings and forogt the device, and re - paired it and everything worked great from then on. Just like what you did in the video.
Huh, will have to try this out. EDIT: Okay, tried it out. Wish it supported streaming content from your console it's self too. The games I'd be most interested in playing this way are not available as cloud streaming, or require too fine of twitch reflexes for cloud gaming's known input lag issues.
I cannot get hand tracking to change screen size on my quest 2. I can get the menu to work. I even switched it from left to right and still not working

My concern is that I really want to use it for work as well as play and am a little worried about feeling sweaty and hot after an hour or 2. But it certainly seems more capable than the brainless glasses. I guess if I want to connect directly from my series x to it instead of cloud gaming I will just have the side load the android Xbox app. I wish through were better integration with my IPhone, but I can understand why. Been having controller problems. Where it pairs but sent recognized on the xbox apps. They used to work. Was using apk xbox apps and after an update a while ago they stopped recognizing the controllers. I mean it would work like a mouse basically. Havent tried the new app tho. The input delay with ur controller is sooo bad and annoying. Fortnite and rocketleague are a no go. Some adventure games are fine tho but I hope theyll fix that somehow
This should have came with at least a month of ultimate free so people can try it. The Rog Ally came with 3 months and so did my gaming laptop. Just 1 month at least would be a great way to get people trying it on the Quest and possibly turn them into customers. 🤷♂️

The app on your phone/iPad doesn't stream from your console, I'm not sure where you heard this but it's incorrect. Heck Apple doesn't even support the regular Game Pass cloud streaming app like Android does, you have to use the browser version. Streaming from your console is only supported on the PC Game Pass app.

I’m interested in this because I have ps extra and quite like it (it got me to this “Netflix of gaming” idea) and gamepass sounds intriguing to me for the Xbox exclusives but I no longer own Xbox. Maybe with this I could pay for its subscription and play it without the need to own the box itself?
Well that’s honestly a big point of xcloud. You can always just pay for the subscription when you want to play the GamePass games anywhere without an Xbox
I fully believe that Xbox’s future in the gaming space is entirely based around game pass and not console gaming at all. They stand to earn a ton of money from it if they can start nail down AAA releases back to back reliably. Games like RDR2 and Balders Gate 3. Hell I could see them working out a deal with Sony to have a “PS exclusives” add on to standard game pass on PS5 if they really wanted to go all in on pass.
Phil Spencer has recently said they're already several years in with regards to making the next Xbox console, so no, they won't be exiting the console market any time soon. If anything, acquiring Call of Duty is going to make a lot of casuals who only play that game switch to Xbox for next gen.
@@acurisur I never said I don’t think they’ll continue in the console space, I just think between PC and PlayStation they’re being wildly outperformed and should drop out. Whereas with game pass they have something no one else is doing.
Awesome in theory but the latency is terrible. I wish you could download the games like you can with Xbox Game pass on the console. I've got a 512GB Meta Quest 3, I've got the storage and it would make this usable. Right now the latency is too poor.
Getting people to use their VR headsets regularly is a bigger problem right now imo. Anything that can be done to make Quest 3 more useful is a big W for Meta.

Does is stream from your local Xbox. Or via fully via the cloud so you can play anywhere you have wifi?
Cloud streaming only from Game Pass cloud servers. Works completely independently of your local Xbox.

I’m interested in this because I have ps extra and quite like it (it got me to this “Netflix of gaming” idea) and gamepass sounds intriguing to me for the Xbox exclusives but I no longer own Xbox. Maybe with this I could pay for its subscription and play it without the need to own the box itself?
Well that’s honestly a big point of xcloud. You can always just pay for the subscription when you want to play the GamePass games anywhere without an Xbox
I fully believe that Xbox’s future in the gaming space is entirely based around game pass and not console gaming at all.
They stand to earn a ton of money from it if they can start nail down AAA releases back to back reliably. Games like RDR2 and Balders Gate 3. Hell I could see them working out a deal with Sony to have a “PS exclusives” add on to standard game pass on PS5 if they really wanted to go all in on pass.
Phil Spencer has recently said they're already several years in with regards to making the next Xbox console, so no, they won't be exiting the console market any time soon. If anything, acquiring Call of Duty is going to make a lot of casuals who only play that game switch to Xbox for next gen.
@@acurisur I never said I don’t think they’ll continue in the console space, I just think between PC and PlayStation they’re being wildly outperformed and should drop out. Whereas with game pass they have something no one else is doing.

Awesome in theory but the latency is terrible. I wish you could download the games like you can with Xbox Game pass on the console. I've got a 512GB Meta Quest 3, I've got the storage and it would make this usable. Right now the latency is too poor.
Hope there is away to get almost 4K. 1080p. Is so decade old
Surprised this is even happening. The Quest stands to have a lot of their Customer's VR time cannibalized by GP. Imagine once COD hits XCloud ...
Getting people to use their VR headsets regularly is a bigger problem right now imo. Anything that can be done to make Quest 3 more useful is a big W for Meta.
Well they a partnership so they both make money and improve their brands out of it. Be interesting to see how that develops
It would be surprising if you didn't watch the Meta Connect event where Meta and Xbox announced they were teaming up to make this cloud streaming app.

The wait times to log on are ridiculous.
It's in beta and the servers can only hold so many people
Don't see the point in it, unless you're on holiday or something, but you can just use you're phone and play.
