  • This lovely longboard blank was sadly rotting away in somebody’s shed, lucky for me they decided to give it a new home.
A lot of work had already been carried out on the blank leaving little room for error when bringing it back to life.
The idea was to keep it as large as possible giving me an end product of 11 x 23.5 x 3.5 (The perfect summer battle ship)
Behind the scenes I’ll be carrying out a little more fine tuning to try and remove some imperfections and deep sun damage, but overall I’m very happy with the outcome.
Stay tuned to see the process continue.
    Thanks for watching!

Is it important to get off all yellowed foam? If not will this effect the glassing?

The yellowing in this case was due to the previous shaper having already attempted to shape the blank and left it out In their garden for a while. In terms of glassing, I’d always aim to have a uniform finish. Normally I work to around 180 grit with mine, some people may go higher. But to answer your question, I’ve personally never left any yellowed foam on my blanks so I can’t answer that from experience. From an aesthetic point of view though, I’d definaltey aim to remove it.
