- This gay/lesbian themed love story was released in 1978 and was one of the first Hollywood pictures to tackle the very controversial topic of homosexuality and lesbianism. The film comes from a time before AIDS and the internet, where discos and gay bath houses were the most popular places to meet and greet. The film stars Perry King ("Mandingo", Riptide", "Lords of Flatbush") and blue-eyed Meg Foster ("Cagney & Lacey", The Stepfather 2", "Masters of the Universe") as Albert; a gay man, and Stella; a lesbian, who decide to live together when his famous composer lover ditches him for another man. To help keep him from being deported, Stella marries Albert. It's strictly platonic until one druken night turns into a one night affair. Soon the two fall in love, have a child and face Albert's infidelities. Although the film has its fans, many in the gay and lesbian community were (and still are) against the film stating that it conveniently takes two gay character's and turns them straight. The film is merely pointing out that love can happen between two people. The screenplay is written in a way that to the characters, the fact they are gay does not matter. This is simply two people (characters) in a world of miliions and millions of people and this is their story. This is indeed "A Diferent Story" and although somewhat dated, it's a film that everyone who enjoys a good love story, should see. Perry King fans here is your opportunity to see Perry King's naked ass in a nude shower scene (part of which is included here). Richard Bull (Mr. Olsen from "Little House on the Prarie" appears as Foster's father).Great music from Bob Wahler.
It was a pleasure and a privelige to portray Perry's boss, Ned, in this film. He was a nice as can be and very giving to a new actor.
I enjoyed this film. However, from what we know today, men and women don’t just STOP being gay. It is a very misleading outcome.
@@lissalives1 That’s not true Sex is very flexible And there’s a lot of people that are like that one day they’re gay and then one day they’re straight and then they’re back gay again or there by they don’t even know what to be
I wish you would post the whole movie, I loved this movie haven't seen this in years.
Meg Foster has always been underrated, imo.
meg foster is so beautiful!
honestly this is one of my favorite movies ever!
i searched almost everywhere i was unable to find such a beautiful and unique love story, you always see 'straight falling for the same sex' but you never see 'homosexual falling for the opposite sex' which is the case here. i really wish there were more stories like this.
Loved Perry King since I was like 5yo. He was to me who Robert Redford was to my mom. Loved him also in Lifetime movie “Their Second Chance” with Lindsay Wagner. Another relevant film about blended families and love transcending time. Go search it here on youtube.
Perry King is one of the most Beautiful male actors of all time! I doubt his take on this role was that "gays can turn heterosexual"... He has been an ally from generations when it wasn't so "cool" to be. And those eyes, that jaw, those cheekbones!
Oh my word! I only discovered him last night whilst reading about race and film from a tiny Mandingo still....was like 'oh my WHO is THAT!!?? On further investigation was able to confirm, yes, hes exceptionally lovely.
Must add however, Im not digging him here with the mow and the whole motorbike thing (and the chest hair, yikes!), and it goes without saying the politics of this film are problematic, misguided, homophobic etc, despite his best intentions and personal philosophy. Id watch it for a laugh though...'dont wait for tomorrow until tomorrow'...yaas! Lol
Ellaova
Homophobic? What the fuck are you talking about??
Calm down, buddy
Can someone Please upload this movie
I'll second ndnetime's wish that you'd post the whole movie. It's a very moving and beautiful story. I speak as a bisexual; gay people who whine that the movie makes gay people straight are showing the exact same ignorance and bigotry straight people have shown to us.
Meg is indeed a very enchanting and lovely actress that made just about any movie come alive by her mere presentation in it.
Perry King bello !!
Los ojos de Meg son de los más bellos de la historia del cine
I saw this film as a kid but never could remember the title.
Adoro esse filme ❤
I will always adore this woman...
Thank you for the upload. I want to buy the movie now.
This was WAY ahead of it's time! but then it also has to be remembered that the late 60's all the way through the late 70's and even a little later, was a sexually free time in a lot of aspects.
I can"t get passed the wallpaper.
😳 OMG,Yes! Just horrendous,Lol! 😂
Yeah I remember that picture, it’s really cool....
Ugh, I wish this were a movie about bisexual people, as the comments are trying to assert, but the fact of the matter is, the movie was made with the intention of showing gay people who "converted" to heterosexuality after meeting the right (wo)man.
That IS CORRECT & right! 👍 Scripture says so! Almighty God says so. 🙏
@Dennis Wilson Don't remember that being in the scripture, must've missed it.
Altoid Bazingá Almighty God still says so!!🙏🏼
@@d.b.4201 hahahaha! Your “god” doesn’t exist! Religious wing nut!
This film isn't good to say the least! It is offensive and hugely unrealistic!
It's just a comedy. It's called fiction, sissy. You need to calm down.
Robbie Aikman -blah, blah, blah.
True It just forces conversion therapy those dudes ass on the comments be on the DL
I really liked this film....thanks for making this tribute....
I hated this move when I saw it as a young teenager. Hate Perry thought to be a good actor he needed to show his bare ass to the word!! I do think TRUE love is the way a God intended it in the 1st place & the fact that they fall in love when they meet the RIGHT person, God intends for them, they come together! That part is TRUE & good!!! Like what the movie says but dont care to see it again. 👎🏻
Amen!!
Huh?
